Chimney Cap Repair reviews in Lorton

I had a leaky chimney. I had several people out and each told me something different but none of their solutions worked. John came out, took one look and said that my problem was the chimney crown. He applied some special stuff to the top of the chimney and voila! No more leak. So far I have been trough several hard rains and not a drop of leak. Thanks John!

They inspected and had a long list of things that needed to be done; one of which included a chimney relining. I called two other companies that both said we did not need a new liner. The company we used for the chimney repair and cap was 50% less than their estimate.

Nicto is fantastic. The work was completed on time, and looked great. They cleaned up all of the mess. The cost was significantly less than another estimate. Also, another company stated we needed a new liner. Nicto inspected and said we did not need a liner. Marcos came to inspect the work and make sure we were happy before getting the final payment. Everyone is extremely professional...from the office staff, to the brick layers and laborers to Marcos. I was extremely happy. They will be my chimney company from now on. I also will be calling them in a couple of months to clean our dryer vents.

The chimney tech team arrived promptly and did a great job of cleaning the fireplace and flue. The inspection revealed what I had already seen evidence of - there was brick crumbling at the top of the chimney caused by water coming in through cracks in the original mortar chimney cap. They recommended replacing the mortar with cement, a job I was able to schedule with them later the very same day. While I know I could have saved money by removing the old mortar myself and then dragging a bucket of concrete up on the roof, my wife convinced me that we should just let them do it, and I am very happy to have done so.

Oscar was great to work with. He was very professional throughout the whole process. When I contacted him he counseled me over the phone with recommendations for the service. He was very busy with his schedule and made time to provide me with an estimate. I felt he went above and beyond to provide excellent service. The crew to complete the work did additional services such as checking my gutters. The crew was very timely and thorough with their work. Since the work was completed we have not had a leak.

I called Sixpenny on 5 September because I wanted an estimate for a
chimney chase cover/reapir, being that we suspected ours was leaking.
Not being knowledgeable on this, I said in my phone call chimney cap
(but I'm assuming they would go on the roof anyway and inspect the
chimneyto see if there was damage and what it would take to fix).  On
the 5th, a young gentleman from Sixpenny showed up and said it would
cost about $165 to get a new chimney cap.  I asked if he had seen a
leak, and he said "oh yeah it leaks".  $165 was doable so I said ok.  He
said he could come back out next day and replace.  The next day comes
around, and when I get home from work I see the same chimney chase
cover.  I call the company and they said they needed to talk to me
because there was a problem.  The young gentleman who came the day prior
explained that it was the chase cover and not the cap and that I did
not have a cap.  I was a bit irate because I would think they went on the
roof the day prior and knew I had no cap, and I had a chase cover.  They
told me because of this "Franco" would be coming out (I believe he was
the manager) the next day to talk to me and measure the chase cover.  I
said ok, I again LEFT WORK EARLY.  On the 7th, Franco did not show, he
sent the same young gentleman from the past two days who said he
measured the chase cover and that when he got to the office, someone would call me with
an estimate.  No one called me Friday, and no one called Monday.  Monday
afternoon I called and left a message asking if someone could give me
the estimate.  I have heard nothing back.  I will be taking my business

Ray arrived with his unloaded tools well within the appointment time-frame. He prepared and protected the area around the fireplace.  Ray's appearance and bearing were professional and purposeful. I knew that he was there to perform timely and efficiently.  Ray assessed my woodburing habits and provided salient guidance, assistance and hints that would enhance my future woodburning experiences.  I followed through with his recommdation that I purchase a second stainless-steel chimney top/cover so that I might rotate the pair from one cleaning to the next.  I  burn 'one-fire' a season so the soot build up is thick.  I will water-soak one stainless steel cover in a plastic container while the other is being used so that I will always have a top relatively free of soot build up.  When Ray visits for my next cleaning he will have a soot-free top to replace the soiled top with.   He also provided great advice relative to a second (not used much) fire stove in the Mother-in-Law suite.  Ray came, assessed, performed in a timely and efficient fashion, gave me some excellent stock market advice and departed leaving all clean and in excellent order.

I needed a chimney liner installed, as the house we just bought had a woodburning fireplace insert but no chimney liner, which was not to code and a fire hazard.  As soon as I called Nicto Chimney Sweeps, the receptionist answered and was very professional.  She quickly set up a free estimate with the owner, Marcos Pacheco.  I will note that Nicto was the only chimney sweep we called (of about 5) that promptly called us back and wasn't booked out for months.  Marcos arrived on time and spent over an hour with us for the free estimate, explaining what sort of liner was needed and how much it would cost.  Inspecting the chimney, he noted several other problems.  A different chimney sweep company had just completed some other work that was subpar, and he picked up on this right away.  Although we were disappointed to have to start from scratch, pricing was very reasonable.  The cost for the liner plus all the repairs was about the same as what a different company wanted to charge us just for the liner.  Nicto did A LOT of work for $1900.  Two men were there for an entire day and they also returned the second day.

On the day they were supposed to do the work, it was pouring rain, and the receptionist called the day before to reschedule.  She also called the day before the rescheduled appointment to remind me.  Marcos and his assistant arrived on time.  They cleaned the interior of the chimney so thoroughly and actually removed several pounds of soot that a different company didn't remove, even though the prior company said they did.  I was truly impressed with how thoroughly they cleaned the chimney.  They installed the new liner and put on a new cap and crown.  They also did all the other work as outlined, and even pressure washed the deck while they were washing the chimney.  The other company had done a really shoddy job of washing the chimney, but Marcos was able to get it so much cleaner.  They obviously take a lot of pride in their work.  The mortar work on the chimney shoulder looks great and was done very meticulously.  He also examined our dryer vent and cleaned our gutters for free.  Finally, he reassured us that what we thought was mold on our fireplace was actually efflourescence and gave us some cleaner to wash it off.  (He said he could have done it but was nice enough to just give us the cleaner so that we did not have to pay for him to clean it.)

I would highly recommend Marcos and Nicto Chimney Sweeps to anyone who wants a professional job done!

Alex and Jack called to let us know that they were running 15minutes behind. They put drapes down on the hardwood when they came into the house and did the cleaning. They were both very professional and gave specific recommendations. Alex took time to explain and answer questions.
