    Green Shield Construction Services
Green Shield Construction Services did a one cargarage construction that has been full of delays; they destroyed a mini split
heating unit they installed by incorrectly hooking it up to an electricalline they installed. They told me months ago theywould replace the heater. It has been over five months since theydestroyed the heater and they still have not done it. I have sent dozens of phone calls and emails to them over the past two months that have gone unanswered.
I signed a contract with Jeremy Mitchell of GreenShield Construction Services on December 2014 to have a one car garage built. Contractstated project would be completed in approximately 30 days once constructionstarted. They finally started
construction in May 2015. OnOctober 7, 2015, five months after they started construction,Jeremy said everything was done and requested final payment. Afterwards I discovered that they had notcompleted the installation of the garage mini split heater unit, it was not functioning.
On October 29th,Green Shield sent out an HVAC repairman who could not get the unit working. After I sent them numerous emails and phonecalls, Green Shield Construction Services came out to look at the unit on November18th and could not get it working. Jeremy Mitchell said they would replace theunit. After I sent many more emails and phone calls, on December 4, 2015,
Heather Mitchell, the office manager, sent me an email stating that the newheater was on the way and would be here the following week. Over three weeks later the new heater theysaid they ordered still had not arrived and Heather sent me an email saying ?Iam working with the company who manufactured the unit. They guaranteed me2 weeks ago it would arriveand now no one knows what is going on.? OnJanuary 6, 2016 Heather sends me another email stating ?The HVAC Manufacture would
like to now send someone out to trouble shoot the unit?. No heater ever arrived, they never gave me any explanation.
On January 12, 2016, morethan three months after they said the garage was completed and took my finalpayment, they sent an HVAC serviceman out to troubleshoot who discovered that during theinstallation Green Shield Construction Services connected the 115 V mini split heaterunit to a 220V power line that they had installed, destroying the heater.
On January 26, 2016 Jeremy Mitchell sent me andemail saying that the replacement will cost Green Shield Services out of pocketand that as soon as they had the funds available they would order a newheater. It has now March 2016, 10months after Green Shield Construction Services started construction, over 5months since they took my final payment, and they still have not replaced theheater. I have made dozens of calls andsent numerous emails over the past few months them which have goneunanswered. This has been incredibly frustrating. Hiring Green Shield Services was a mistake.

FOLLOW UP Aug 29, 2016 - It has now been over 10 months since Greenshield Construction Services negligently destroyed the new heater they were installing in the garage by connecting the 115v heater to the 220v line they installed and they still have not replaced it. I have contacted them dozens of times, most without any reply from them, to get them to replace the heater. I received nothing but continued excuses. They have continuously blamed financial difficulties and inability to schedule subcontractors for 10 months. In their response to my original posting in March they actually said that they considered the job completed, even though they destroyed the heater during installation and never had it working. This alone should be enough reason to avoid this contractor. They also said I sent threatening messages, which is absolutely untrue. Another falsehood told by this contractor. I am honestly amazed by their actions and how they think they can get away with all this. Jeremy Mitchell has only contacted me a few times during the past 10 months. The rest of the emails have been sent by Heather Mitchell. In March 2016 they finally said they were ready to purchase a replacement mini split unit. On April 11th Heather said they ordered the unit. After I again sent them a number of emails trying to get a status update, on May 11th, they sent me a copy of the heater invoice. I contacted the dealer on the order who said the heater was just ordered on May 11th, a full month after Heather Mitchell told me that they had ordered it. Another example of her not telling me thetruth. The dealer also told me that Greenshield Construction Services had received the unit on May 20th. Below is a list of the continued emails Heather Mitchell sent me of excuses and delays in response to my numerous emails for status updates: (Greenshield) 3/28 - Green Shield should be in position to purchase new units towards the end of this week. Once I have tracking info on the delivery I will forward it to you. (Greenshield) 4/11 - Yes, I have ordered the unit over the weekend. Will forward tracking info to you once they have sent it out. It will ship directly to you. (Greenshield)5/11 - The units have not come in yet,as advised in previous emails I would send you a tracking confirmation once it was established. Again this wasn't something that Green Shield Services had any control over, this was a manufacturing warranty issue. Below is the confirmation that the units have been ordered but have not shipped. Below is the confirmation of the order. (Greenshield) 5/19 - Units have shipped and are actually shipping to our office. I'm hoping to have them by mid week, next week. We have the electrician on standby so hoping to get it done over next weekend. (Greenshield) 5/31 How is this Saturday? June 4th? Our electrician was gone on vacation last week. Finally, on June 9 Jeremy sent me an email that an electrician would stop by to look at the heater wiring. The electrician came and said some rewiring would be required since the new heater was also a 115V unit.Thats the last I ever saw anyone from Greenshield. I emailed Greenshield services a week later to see what was going on and got no response. I emailed them again on June 21 and Heather Mitchel l finally responded on June 23 with more excuses. She emailed three more times again excuses and absolutely no action. (Greenshield) 6/23 - Trying to nail down the HVAC crew. Should know something by this weekend. (Greenshield) 7/12 - ASAP, working with the electrician now. As soon as I've confirmed will let you know something. (Greenshield) 7/21 - Following up again with the electrician now, will let you know something ASAP. (Greenshield)7/28 - We understand your frustration, we can deliver them this weekend but do not have confirmation from the electrician of his availability. It is now the end of August and they still have not replaced the mini split unit they damaged in the garage they built. It has been 10 months since they damaged the heater during installation, 15 months since they started working on the garage, and 20 months since I signed the contract with them. It is not just the fact they were carelessly negligent and destroyed the new heater, it is the fact that it is 10 months later and they have done nothing but lie to me, give me excuses, and appear to have no intention of replacing it. I am honestly amazed that a company would treat a customer this way and actually try to get away with something as blatant as this. This has been a complete nightmare, and a costly one. Greenshield Construction Services is the most unreliable and unprofessional contractor I have ever worked with.

    Door Doctor Inc
I called Door Doctors on a Friday afternoon 8/14 and they came out on Monday 8/17. The previous owner of the house/garage hadn't installed the garage door correctly. The garage door didn't close all the way (1" too high), the sensors were still in the housing unit, the opener inside the garage was in an inconvenient location, neglected to install the keypad.
Door Doctors took care of everything and more! They were prompt on their arrival window and after a brief overview of the issues/problems, they went to work right away. They were able to answer any and all questions I had. DD's were great to work with and had a great personality.
If you ever have an issue with your garage door, I would give DD's a call before anyone else.

Affordable Sheds & Garden Products LLC
We contacted Affordable sheds to get a quote for a 10x16 shed to be built on our property. Of the three places we contacted, Affordable sheds had the best price plus the best customer service/response times for our inquiries. We had a lot of questions and wanted to make sure all of our shed requirements were met. We worked with Karen who was extremely responsive and answered all of our questions. She also provided a great deal of information about the choices we made as well as suggestions when we weren't sure of our options. We wanted a concrete slab under our shed and she assisted us with finding a reputable concrete company that works often with Affordable Sheds.
Our shed was built on April 21st in roughly 5 hours on site. We couldn't be more happy with how the shed turned out. I highly recommend Affordable Sheds (Keith and Karen) for a shed building project.

    ABC Garage Repair
It went pretty well. They did a good job. I'm still trying to get them to come out and fix like a chain issue, a chain sort of dangling from it. It's not their fault that they haven't come out to fix it because we're under kitchen renovation, and I haven't had a chance to send the pictures. They want pictures of it before they come out. So, that's it. Yes, it turned out well.

    Barry's Capentry
I hired Barry to remodel my downstairs bathroom and to install ceramic floor tile in two other rooms. I have a signed written contract and paid him half of the total price before beginning the job. He didn't show up for nearly 2 months. He continuously made excuses for not working. Finally he worked for 14 hours over three days then demanded more money. He walked of the job with my house key and left a big mess inside and outside. The PVC pipe he installed is leaking. Nearly 3 months later he refuses to complete the job and return my house key. In addition he used the name and VA plumbers license number of J & L Plumbing located in Falls Church VA on our contract. I've spoken with the owner William Gaskins several times and he admits to hiring Barry a few times but insists that Barry does not work for him and does not have permission to use his companies name or license number. I have given Barry the lowest rating possible. He is aware that I have reported him to the authorities but says he doesn't care and claims he is well protected. I have never met a person with less integrity. Do yourself a huge favor and select another person.

    HYBILT Contracting
We hired Hybilt to build a deck on the back of our house as well as changing out our front door and frame with a new door and frame.  We contracted Jarred in beginning of September with work to start end of September. We were quoted a price and were told it would take a couple weeks with completion by middle October.   Work started and from the beginning it was a nightmare.  Hybilt company was really just Jarred and his friend.  Days stretched into weeks and stretched into months. Rarely did they come early, if at all on a daily basis. On the rare days I was at home he would show up around 11am and leave by 2-2:30.  This of course included a trip to get lunch.  By November I was getting pretty frustrated.  During this process he would regularly ask for checks for “supplies”. Ironically that would (in hind sight) center around a weekend, or his supposed wedding or other conveniences.  Meanwhile all the word is sitting on our grass killing it, as well as leaving it in the rain uncovered and it warping.  As the building progressed the workmanship became more and more shoddy.  Finally the beginning of January I told him he was done I couldn’t take it anymore. This was preceded by him asking for more money above the quoted amount for more supplies to complete the deck. I told him I would not give him any more money but would pay for the supplies at TW Perry in Leesburg. When I went to pay for the wood, there were also saw blades and circular saw blades to the tune of around $100 of extraneous expenses.  As we have come out on the deck the workmanship is appalling. Sections of framing were pieces cut to fit together as he used scraps to finish the deck. In addition the external framing structure was crooked and the main cross section of the front of the deck is not even aligned. The wood framing is warped and misshapen. The wood doors are so cheap they are sagging and look wretched. We have had to hire a carpenter as well as a siding guy to start fixing all the mistakes.  We had also hired Hybilt to replace our front door and frame. While replacing the front door there were bangs in the wall, marks everywhere and overall the door is of very poor quality.    I would never let this person anywhere near my house again. He is not trustworthy, a very poor craftsman and actually commits construction fraud by not completing his contractual agreement. As we look at the deck it is apparent to us that he deliberately performed poorly by using damaged materials and using scraps of wood to build the deck.  A contractor with any integrity would not have performed in this manner and delaying the project months from the delivery date

    Walker and Clarke Builders Inc
Donnie did a professional, good-looking job.  I've worked with him before, so I expected that.  He went way beyond even my expectations in two ways:  he worked hard to find  ways to keep costs down, while keeping the bumpout within my HOA specs and meeting County regulations.  He also met with inspectors to get the necessary approvals (he had to chase one inspector down, who was not an easy guy to reach--he was not answering my calls--but Donnie got that approval in time for the fireplace firm to install the logset).
This job required a lot of coordination, and Donnie stayed in touch by text, email, and phone throughout, helping me to navigate the permit process and to work with the fireplace firm (I would not recommend them--they made the job harder every step of the way, with poor customer service and poor communication, so Donnie's working to get things straight with them was especially important).
The problems with the fireplace firm threatened the deadline, and that was when Donnie really saved the day.  He came early and stayed late, he made calls, he followed up:  and when he left for his Christmas with his family, the job was done.   (Check  out the pictures!)
Finally, he called me from the beach just before the 19th to ask if I needed anything else:  "Even if it's not something  my guys did, let me know if you need anything," his voicemail said.  I called back to wish him a Merry Christmas.
Donnie has something you really want in a contractor:  he takes great pride in his work.  There's no substitute for that as a motive for doing jobs promptly, correctly, completely.            See? Done by Christmas!
Christmas carols by the fire, because Donnie made the deadline!

    Backyard Shed & Deck Co
It's now May 2010 and the shed is in perfect condition, the back side of the shed had all the vinyl siding blow away I simply called the company up and they replaced it all for free. that's old school good service. I would highly recommend this company i've noticed several sheds around the community i live in (hamlets at red cedar in leesburg off evergreen mills road) where several folks have had sheds built by other companies probably in the last year or so and they're falling apart, or the foundation caved in inbetween... my shed on the other hand is in perfect condition and can tell will for years to come. After installing the concerte foundation and joists a few days later 2 young men probably in their very early 20's or late teens came out in probably 100 degree weather and built this thing all by themselves from scratch probably from a pre cut kit within about 4 or 5-7 hours, i seroiusly thought they weren't going to make it the whole day.
