Wait time was long and when I got into the exam room it was welcoming and the nurse was great. When the Nurse Practitioner got into the room she started going over my medical history including past pregnancy, surgeries and medications, as expected. When she saw that I was on a Class C medication prescribed for depression she immediately said that I would have to go off of it and said I could go onto another Depression medication which is also a Class C medication but works on completely different brain chemicals. She explained that this office is very conservative and whichever doctor I chose there would ask me to make the switch to a different medication. Then she saw on my medical history that I had MRSA in 11/2006, she immediately said that I would need to take a heavy duty antibiotic at the end of my pregnancy to prevent any reoccurrence. I explained to her that I did not take any antibiotic with my first daughter born in 2013 and that she could take a culture from my nostril to check for colonization of any infection ( as I have had done yearly and also right before I had my daughter) she said, and quot;at this practice we would put you on an antibiotic' and and quot;we suggest that you have another C-Section because you had one before.and quot; She again explained that Elite is very conservative and I would have to see a high risk doctor because I was on a medication that they are not comfortable with in the same Class C category (benefit out ways the risk) I took the medication through out my first pregnancy. She set me up with blood work and the high risk doctor, I again told her that she can go ahead and take a swab sample of my nostril to be sure I was not colonized, she flat out refused to do that test, even though it conclusively would tell her whether I had any skin infection or not (I've been 8 years clear of any skin infection).

I decided upon leaving that I would cancel any follow-up appointment and see an OBGYN office that has better educated NPs regarding depression during pregnancy and medications in the same category as the ONE medication they allow pregnant women to take for depression. I would also find a doctors office that has educated individuals which know about skin infections and how to screen for them. My husband is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and when I explained why I would not be returning to that practice he completely agreed that the NP I spoke to did not know what she was talking about with regards to Depression medications and skin infections which occurred 8 years ago. I will never return to a place with close minded, non-understanding, and (as far as I can tell) uneducated individuals working there, because of all the reasons listed above.

Beware of who you entrust your life and that of your unborn child. I only met the Nurse Practitioner and I am only relaying what she said and explained to me as how Elite's practice runs, I never saw a doctor there to confirm what she explained as true, so this is not about any doctor involved in that practice. What I will say to Elite is, please continue ongoing education in the field of Obstetrics, things are constantly changing and the things that were true many years ago may not be true in 2014. I will continue my search for an OBGYN office and doctor.

If you do not take any medications and have never had any previous infections or surgeries, this may be a good practice for you. The NP had a gentle touch when checking my cervix for position and to make sure it was closed.

    Brenda Hines MD
Dr. Hines is a fantastic doctor. She has a truly wonderful bedside manner and she is very well versed in any medical issues that have come up. I have recommended her to several friends who have started seeing her and they have all been extremely pleased. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

I've gone to Leslie twice. Both times I have LOVED the doctor, but hated everything else about being there.
Both times she's run over an hour late, and the staff was less than helpful in giving us an update on when she'd be ready. In fact, they almost seemed irritated when I asked. Sure- I get it, they're swamped and I don't help by asking them these questions, but it just makes the experience feel unfriendly and rude.
I don't know why, but Leslie always gets you in to that vulnerable uncomfortable position and then calls in a nurse to help her- which I'm never expecting. Plus, the nurse I had last time opened and closed the door really wide, pretty much leaving me exposed to the waiting room. I did not appreciate that at all. Because I really do like Leslie, I will probably go back, but I'm not sure. I am somewhat undecided to tell you the truth.
