Does a Painting Estimate Really Matter?

    C&K Painting Services
It went great. They came out and did the estimate and we scheduled a date to start. Kim called me about the colors I chose with some concern over how dark it might be in the hallway. I agreed and appreciated her input and adjusted the choices. She was definitely right, as it would have made the hallway very dark and uninviting. The job was done on time and was very professional. Charlie came out during the job and made sure everything was progressing properly and he helped get the job finished. Overall, I great experience. I am thinking of having more painting done and will definitely call Kim and Charlie again.

My siding looked as good as it did when I first had it installed after he power washed.  He power washed my deck also and it also looked new.  I was wanting some drywall replaced and the whole interior painted and since he price for the power wash so reasonable and decided to have him come back and do the work inside.  He is prompt and his painting is perfect.  When he left there was no mess left.

I will hire him again when I decide to tile my bathroom.

    Jerrys Painting & Powerwashing
Outstanding!  Jerry moved his schedule around to get my house done last minute for listing on market.  His crew came in and did a very professional job from ceilings down to all the crown molding and trim.  They were in and out in 3.5 days with only 2 items found during walkthru that Jerry had fixed on the spot.  I highly recommend to anyone needing painting, compared against 3 other painters, 2 of which I didn't have the confidence they could handle that size job in short amount of time and third with too much 'al carte' on the pricing menu that I knew would end up in a pricing nightmare.  Jerry looked at the house and gave price to include 'everything' which it did.

The work was outstanding! Thye even did a small flooriing repair in an unaffected area at no additional cost. The staff from the estimator (Chad) to the actual workers were very friendly, courteous, and professional! Highly recommended.

    Advanced Painting
I chose Advanced Painting because they were one of two providers that accepts the Angie's List 10% off coupon. So I called the owner (Steve) on Monday and he was able to come over on the same week that Thursday for an estimate. He said the job would be 600 dollars which is the all day labor rate because the job would take the majority of the day. I agreed but said Id like a few small areas done as well if I had to pay the all day rate. I then presented him with my Angies list coupon and he agreed to take 10 percent off but he didnt seem very thrilled with it. He mentioned that he'd like to make a thousand dollars a day (which I didnt understand with a 600 dollar full day labor rate).  He told me he'd be able to do it the following Friday which I was pleased with (the following week after the estimate). I called him the next week on Thursday night and asked what kind of payment he'd like (cash or check) he said hed prefer cash if available and then I asked what I could do to make the job move along easier. He said that I could remove outlet covers and light swith covers if I didnt mind. I doidnt mind and I did remove them. He told me they'd be there between 8:45 am and 9am the following morning. The next day at 9:25 I called him to ask where the workers were and he told me that they would be there in an hour (1 and a half hours later then the time he had said the day before) and of course I got angry and we got short with each other on the phone. He mentioned that the price he was giving me was practically charity and that he was only making 150 dollars profit on the day. This infuriated me because he simply charged me for a full days rate with a coupon (His estimate straight forward) and his workers werent going to be there until almost lunch time. I felt as if I were provided no favors or so-called charity and was offended by this. The workers showed up at exactly 1038 and they got straight to work. They were proffesional and polite and worked very well. I was pleased overall with their work. They fixed 3 nail pops in my drywall and a 2 inch long by 1/8th inch wide crack. I was not pleased however that they were satisfied by one coat of paint after the owner Steve had given me a quote for two coats on everything. So I asked them to please put up another coat and they did after only a slight hesitation. They did work quickly and the overall product looks fantastic. I would recommend the quality of their work but the customer service was lacking.

    Haller's lakeside Services
They started out really good. They showed up and jumped right into the work. They were here for several weeks working to get the job done. They were professional and friendly. But what turned us off about them was the finish. They had set aside a time limit to complete our job. But when they ran into issues with getting the correct color of paint, it pushed their finish time beyond where they wanted to go. They had another job lined up after us and it was upon them before finishing ours. So the end result was work done too quickly and times got missed. After they left, I found walls not painted with dry plaster still on them. The paint never really matched. They repaired a small work curl on a window and only painted one side and painted it on the window without tape. So paint was left on the window. When we asked for them to come back, we were told they would, but they never showed up. This really made us sad because we had really liked them and felt like them just blew us off for another job.

Scheduling was tricky and I went out of my way to make sure I was ready but the job before mine took longer than expected.  I had a vacation planned so they started and completed painintg while I was out of town.  That would've been ok if the right color was applied.  Steve was good about coming back and putting the right color on.  The things I found unacceptable was the amount of dust and paint left afterwards - really excessive dust!  In particular, the bathroom had a great deal of white splatter all over the sink and toilet.  This was not removed to my satisfaction and Steve seemed more concerned with getting out of my house than cleaning up when I asked him to fix it.  Overall, the paint looks good but I really wish the job had been neater since I had a lot of clean up to do afterwards.

I called Steve about a week before I wanted the interior of the house my husband and I bought painted. The Job wasn't issue free, but the issues I had were dealt with promptly and to my satisfaction (I am highly OCD) On top of me being picky I chose semi-gloss paint which is a PAIN for painters, it SHOWS EVERYTHING. Steve's crew did an excellent job. Will, Todd and I can't remember the other guy's name were excellent.
The Job was a large one, top to bottom the house is 3500 finished square feet and I had 14 different colors.
Overall 3 suggestions: 1) Hire Steve 2) Don't use Semigloss 3) let them buy the paint for you so you don't have to deal with home depot trips.
I will be using Steve again in a few months to repair some siding and pressure wash.

Billy W. Rose Jr. Construction Company
Work provided on our home renovation project was beyond exceptional, especially given that we were in a time crunch to move in so work had to be completed in a short period of time! Despite having to manage many obstacles during the project
due to our homes condition at the time of purchase, Billy W Rose Construction embraced the challenge with attention, dedication, and diligence. Their attention to detail on all aspects of the construction - especially our beautiful, custom kitchen - as well as proper scheduling and coordination with subcontractors, was remarkable. Their commitment to go above and beyond by personally seeking out the manufacturer of the kitchen cabinets - to replace one that was missing - was truly appreciated. They managed coordination of multiple inspections needed for the homes examination due to its previous foreclosure status, and always made themselves available to answer our questions throughout the reconstruction process. In addition, they provided exemplary service when having to work under a tight schedule to ensure the house was move-in ready in a short amount of time. The attention to detail led us to find additional fixes required in the home that we may not have otherwise known prior to inspections. We would recommend to future customers, and will be working with them again in the future.

Bob was always prompt and communication was great. He was willing to adjust the plan as we went, and still produced an absolutely beautiful kitchen. Wish I could post pictures! Only reason it's not all A's is a couple leaks with the sink and dishwasher that were not caught with the install. That being said, Bob showed up late on Friday night to make things right. Absolutely recommend to anyone interested in great work at a great price.
