  • Never got a return call. Finally after two weeks they came out. They had the wrong part Nat gas v. LP. It took another week to get them back with the correct part. Then they determined it was the main valve and had to order it. Three weeks later they came and replaced the valve. After using the stove for a couple of weeks, black soot was coming out around the place where the chimney went through the wall and at the floor - meaning it was venting into the wall. I texted Chuck and Maria with pictures of the black soot. I got a reply “Who is this” I gave my name and never heard another word. I replaced the Stove with a ventless stove and had another plumber install it. We are lucky that CO did not fill the house and kill all of us. Horrible service.

  • The fireplace is nice and gas line was installed professionally. The staff that came to do the install was great. The negative part was the sales team and the billing team. They were misleading on when I could cancel the project. I bought two systems and was told that I could cancel the orders up until I found out the cost of running the gas line. We decided to install one of the systems and forgo the second system due to the cost of running the gas line. Cancelling the second system was a nightmare. The company charged us for the second system after we cancelled it and then did not process a refund for 2 months. The refund came after more than 20 calls to various Cyprus Air customer service representatives. Finally only after threatening legal action did we receive our money.

  • The job went fine, but we had to reschedule inspection 3 times and it took a period of a couple months before it was done. I did read another review prior to booking that once Aspen got the full payment inspection was something that took a long time and that maybe the full balance shouldn't have been paid. (I still went with them for the product.) I did find that was exactly what I experienced, but it eventually got done and then i had to follow through multiple times to get the actual permit for my records. In addition it was the customer that had to follow up on the face plate and something that took 6-8 weeks, then the "wrong" order was sent and a re-measurement needed to be done. A frustrating process, but the fireplace works well and looks great.

  • Very well, he performed a thorough cleaning, and added some decorative pieces which had apparently burned off over time. We confirmed that it stayed on for an hour so we are comfortable that the issue has been resolved, and the fireplace looks much better!

  • Everything went very well. I purchased a deal on Angie's List and was contacted right away via email to set up the appointment. The technician, Ryan, showed up as scheduled. He cleaned and inspected the logs, checked CO levels, etc. Ryan arranged the logs correctly so the CO detector doesn't go off anymore which is great! After some discussion, I decided to have him install a remote control unit which makes turning the unit on and off extremely easy. I highly recommend Wammoth Services.

  • Now that it was serviced, I haven't had any problems. He even went above an beyond to fix a part for me that had been broken since we moved into the house. He welded a new tab to hold on the front cover and brought it back to me the following week.

  • Overall, the experience was good. See my review on YELP for more details. The front-office people are very good; and you want to do business with them. I think you could save money if manage this as 3 projects: a) install gas line; b) chimney report: inspect fireplace, sweep it, and repair any bricks; c) install gas logs. Examples: I found a contractor to install the gas line @ $15 per foot (but his communications skills were slow). Also, Bromwells charges $135 for a chimney report. This is really an opportunity for a 3rd party (NICTO) to inspect the fireplace and tell you what work needs to be done. The initial check list and receipt for services performed was the actual chimney report. Overall, a good experience.

  • The company claims to be a full service provider for equipment and installation services.  That was not our experience.  The worker who installed the gas line made holes in our walls before measuring and deciding where to run the line.  He used one of our dining room chairs as a stool with his work boots on without asking.  We had multiple step-stools in plain view. 
    The bricklayer entered our home unannounced, did not use a drop cloth, got mortar on our kids' toys, and dumped his excess mortar on our landscaping. 
    The electrician did not show up when scheduled.  When we called about it, Homeliving refused to provide the electrician's contact information and when pressed about license and bond, immediately canceled the electrical work altogether.  We were forced to call in another electrician at the last minute.
    The end result of the installation is a reasonably attractive gas fireplace insert, but the process was a series of unprofessional, stress-provoking interactions that led to this review.

  • Edited 1/18/2016 after a cool-down period and reflection: 
    Generally, we like our fireplace, but had a disappointing and at times, a frustrating experience overall mostly because of lack of good follow-up/communication.  Issues arise; how those issues are addressed professionally is key.  A couple items were discussed but lacked follow-through.  Customer service needs attention; several emails and phone calls went unanswered.  My recommendation:  As with contracting any company, do what I did not, meaning withhold the installation fee until your final county inspection has passed and you are happy with the final job.
     
    Initially, my wife and I scheduled an installation after visiting their Herndon storefront.  Storefront personnel were unreliable.  We failed our first inspection; not too uncommon, but how that's handled was key.  I called and spoke with Diane and asked to speak with Chuck (owner).  Diane curtly said he's in the field a lot and hard to get hold of...  but that she would text or call Chuck and ask him to call me.  I heard nothing for the rest of the day, so I stopped by their shop on my way home from work and found Chuck working the back storeroom.  Chuck emerged and I told him I was extremely unhappy.  Chuck, obviously frustrated, told me to go and complain to Fairfax County.  ???  Chuck did eventually apologize after he scheduled to come by to address the inspector's findings. He showed up and then scheduled another visit for an upcoming Saturday during which he and his son completed repairs. 

    General:
    Good equipment is only as good as the complete installation process.  There was a surprising disconnect in scheduling the inspections as it took three attempts to obtain a final inspection.  The inspector asked why an inspector was not present because, according to him, "they usually go to installations".  Chuck disagreed with that, saying that is unreasonable to schedule those in a realistic manner.  Maybe, but inspections should not be left solely at the feet of the customer; at least having a contractor rep on site the actual day of inspection makes sense because the homeowners did not perform the installation and so have little to no information should problems/questions arise (as often happens).  I'd recommend adding a $50 - $100 fee to cover on-site employee to be available during an inspection "window" to better resolve issues that arise.
       
    Some findings:  installation was a little sloppier than ideal (and yes, I'll admit to having higher than normal expectations as you'll see below; code is meeting minimum requirements, so better-than-code should be the norm for most jobs).  The chimney cap was not mechanically fastened to the flue; of 4 sides of the flue, only 2 sides of 4 were flat-caulked to hold the cap in place.  Chuck did offer to have someone look at that and seal it better; I declined, saying I would address it myself.

  • They were unable to schedule me until February or March, which is far too long for my fireplace to be inoperable. When I asked about whether or not they had Saturday hours, the woman with whom I spoke asked (with a snide, disrespectful tone), "Do YOU work on Saturdays?" They didn't seem at all willing to work with me. If they can't honor the specials in a timely manner, they probably shouldn't be offering them.
