    My wife would have been a new patient of this Doctor and after a one month advance appointment scheduling, we visited the office today and were handed standard insurance forms to be filled out. I explained that we do not sign the HPPA release which is our right by law. When the office manager stated that they insist upon HPPA to be signed, I stated that I would sign it under duress. It is stated clearly on their form that I can later ask that HPPA be refused. Since it took so long to get an appointment with this Doctor, I decided to sign it anyway. The office manager came back to us and refused to accept us as new patients. I would strongly suggest that you find ANY other Dermatologist other than here. Buyer beware!!

    Terrible! Unprofessional staff and physician. Dr. Gurney did not care about concerns I had on my face and back. Burned 3 places on my face and charged me for "surgical' procedure. I was in and out of the office in 10 min. yet was overcharged for this service. Attempted to make Monty payments but check was sent back and now I am in collections with an attorney in Fairfax increasing my bill by 18%!

    I was able to get an appointment the same day as my call. Dr. Gurney identified my issues and treatment needs immediately. His experience and knowledge was evident. I was in and out in 10 to 15 minutes. Pricing was not applicable since it was a specified insurance co-payment.

    We were excited to go to this office because it had good reviews. However, we left our appointment disappointed because no new treatment was offered and they recommended we go to a dermatologist closer to our home. We drove 20 minutes to this office for supposedly the best care. We ended up going to another dermatologist who prescribed a medicated cream which helped my son's eczema clear up.

    The provider was at first able to diagnose and prescribe a few things to my son, but by the fourth appointment nothing was working for him. Doctor robert, then brought a form to my attention and told me that I needed to sign it to give my son Acutane. When I asked why he told me that "Some stupid congressman's son committed suicide on this treatment, so now we have to make people sign this form". When I responded, and let him know that he shouldn't talk like that in front of my son, he became very confrontational, and tried to persuade me to just sign the form. I wont go into detail about how things went from there, but there is no way I will ever bring my son to this doctor again. Needless to say, I got a second opinion on this medication, and it turns out that it was not even necessary in this case. I'm glad I stuck to my gut feeling and walked away from this doctor when I did.

    Doctor Gurney inspires confidence.  He quickly diagnosed the problem, stepped me through his reasoning, and treated the issue.  He took extra time to answer questions and allow my daughter to calm down.

    I went there for Moe's surgery. Had a chunk removed from my upper shoulder after receiving a confirmation biopsy of a skin cancer. Dr. Martin Allen Braun did the procedure. There are five of them there. A family business. Focus on the word, business. 
    After the procedure I asked for a few prescription strength pain pills. I did not ask for a 30 day supply.  A few would have been fine. Just to get over the first few days of pain and swelling because I had to return to work immediately. Was offered only something with Codine, which I do not respond well to. I told him that repeatedly. I asked for a few Vicodin(strength to be determined by the doctor) and had a horrible long drawn out argument with the Dr. Martin Allen Braun. After a ten minutes argument he finally wrote a script for five pills(plenty for what I needed) and handed it to me in protest. I was so disgusted I told him "we are done here" and I left the prescription with him when I exited the procedure room.  
    In the end it turns out he was more concerned with his liability for prescribing a drug that I know to be effective, than in controlling my pain immediately following surgery. We are talking 5 pills here. He brought up his liability several times in our conversation. 
    I was asked to come back for a follow up in two weeks. I will not be returning to that business. My family physician will prescribe something for my gaping wound and I will get a referral to a physician who cares more about his patients than his perceived liability for prescribing a few pain med pills that will improve the life of his patients.

    No waiting, dealt with issues on the spot, good communication. Went back for laser removal of age spots on hands and face, and that went well (but may need another). Very good service and reasonable fees.

    The office staff is friendly and polite. High marks for them. Our appointments were usually on time which was a pleasant surprise for a doctor's office! It seems as though appointments are available only thru 2 or 2:30pm, which is tough if you don't want your kids to miss school. We first saw Morgan Klein, the physician assistant, for my son's molloscum. She was so friendly and patient when explaining our treatment options. She was gentle and great to work with. All of our interactions with Morgan were positive. I feel our interactions with Dr. Stashower and Dr. Tieu were not as positive. Dr. Stashower seemed a little awkward with a teenage girl with acne. His treatment was mainstream (antibiotics and Differin). On my child's 3rd visit, her acne was flaring up. His comments to her were a bit insensitive and he recommended birth control pills or Accutane on the 3rd visit. I felt those options -especially Accutane -were a bit extreme given there are other products or antibiotics she hasn't tried yet. So then we switched to Dr. Tieu because my daughter thought she would be more comfortable with a woman doctor. This appointment seemed like a drive-thru appointment. Dr. Tieu was so quick and out the door. I thought she should have asked for more background info. She didn't change any meds.

    The staff is very accommodating and friendly.  We were able to obtain same-day appointments for both myself and my wife.  Check-in and check-out, including insurance processing were easy.  Dr. Gurney himself has an excellent bed-side manner.  He is up front in saying what issues he cannot treat (e.g. split nail) and very knowledgeable about his field.
