I made appointment with Dr. Gurney to secure a secondary treatment for scabies.  I was initially treated for this condition with a topical cream while I was in the hospital for chemotherapy, but the condition did not abate.  After I was released from the hospital, I made the appointment with Dr. Gurney, believing that a dermatologist might have a more effective treatment. Dr. Gurney prescribed two types of pills and a topical ointment.  When I asked what each of the pills was designed to do, he simply said, "It will be on the label."  I asked the question several times, and the answer was the same each time, so, in effect, Dr. Gurney never answered the question.  My reaction to his office is that it was somewhat unkempt, and that was unsettling to me.  The office staff was not overly welcoming, particularly to a new patient, but certainly was adequate in its level of service. When I called back to get one of the prescriptions reissued, I was told that I had to come in to see the doctor, which I declined to do; however, in the end analysis, after this course of treatment, the condition disappeared.  It was a condition that afflicted me for at least three months, and it was agonizing, so I was thankful for Dr. Gurney's ability to finally rid me of this condition.

The doctor explained clearly the procedure and patiently answered all my questions. He was not pushing for treatment, but rather explained that we can keep an eye on few things if this is what I am more comfortable with.

When the doctor showed up, I felt like she spent no more than 7 minutes with me, which may have been a result of me wanting to speed things up. She did not ask thorough questions about my skin irritation, and I left with medicine/prescriptions for all sorts of 'diagnosed' issues. I thought that the exam was cursory and the doctor was quick to prescribe . . .two combinations that I do not appreciate. Since I didn't trust the diagnose and IMO over medication, I did not take anything prescribed and handled my breakout on my own. I would've just written them off without providing a review, but then I received a bill in the mail about 30 days after my appointment with information on what my insurance covered and what I owed Nelson Dermatology. When I looked at the bill, the total amount (~$130) was less than what I prepaid for the appointment (~$180). I called the billing number to ask why I owed additional money. No one directly answered, so I left a detailed message. I never got a return phone call. 30 days after that, I received another bill in the mail indicating that I was late paying my bill. I called again. No one answered, so I left another detailed message. I did not receive a return phone call. This time I sent an email documenting my concerns and received a response stating that my account would be credited with the over-payment. The whole process was frustrating and made me lose trust in the office.

The spa is located in a very private and peaceful location. I arrived at the spa a little early and was warmly greeted by Deborah. I was asked if I would like some homemade scones and some herbal tea to enjoy while waiting for my appointment. After enjoying a scone and tea. I am escorted to a changing room where I change into a robe, wrap, and slippers. The facial is relaxing and the products smell great which enhances the overall experience. Afterwards my face looks amazing. Then onto the massage. I have a very high stress job, so Kris is patient to work through the knots in my neck and upper back caused by stress. After the massage, I am very relaxed and refreshed. This is the only place I now go for a massage.
