    J & N Car Care
Having heard they were a reputable place, I took my car in for an oil change. I provided my own oil and filter (which had cost about 32 bucks), and didn't think to inquire as to the price, it usually being around $10-12 most places for the short time it takes to drain an oil pan and put in four new quarts. When I picked up my car, it was $38.05. I asked if they'd used my oil and filter, as instructed, and was told yes. Then, why did it cost $38? "We charge the same whether you provide the oil and filter or not."
I thought this was pretty lame, so they won't be getting any more of my business.

Made appointment by phone, Took car in and they got to it immediately and got to it, they also put in synthetic oil.  We were very happy with the oil change and they even washed the car.  We were very happy to have them do the oil change.  We will be back.

    WRENCH CRAFT

It wasn't that big of a deal and they were reasonable. He's my go to guy. This is a specialist in Japanese cars who's been there for a long time. Super nice, super accommodating. Very skilled. I recommend them. I tend to use him for major repairs.

    Rittenhouse Auto Service
They spent time with me to understand what was going on with my vehicle, and then worked with me to find the right solution for the car AND my budget. Both Rick and Jon explained everything very thoroughly--greatly appreciated. They took me home when I dropped the car off, and came to get me when the work was done. I strongly recommend Rick, Jon, and the rest of the folks at Rittenhouse Auto because of their knowledge, professionalism, and courtesy. I also have to comment on the  positive attitude displayed by everyone I met. I'm grateful for the quality of the service and genuine appreciation for my business... I will be back.

    Precision Imports
My most recent visit was for an annual inspection. However, I have had brakes serviced, cooling system flushed, and routine maintenance work done on my 1996 Nissan Pickup by Precision Imports since moving to Harrisonburg in 2008. This is a two man shop, very clean and professional. They don't try to sell me service I don't need and their rates are fair. They specialize in Japanese imports, and recommended I take my Audi elsewhere. I really appreciate their integrity and honesty.

    European Auto Haus
I own two older Audis (a 2000 A4 and a 2001 A6). European Autohaus has done on the service on both vehicles since moving to Harrisonburg in 2008. This includes a timing belt replacement in the A6,routine maintenance on both vehicles (oil, filter, coolant system, air conditioner service), and the replacement of the power window motor for a passenger door window in the A6. The A6 was purchased as a used vehicle, and came with a lot of differed maintenance. European Autohaus had the A6 running like new after several days in the shop. I've had my vehicles serviced in Arizona at Scottsdale Audi (Scottsdale, AZ), Ken's Import Service (Flagstaff, AZ) and Audi of Tyson's Corner (Vienna, VA), and the quality of the service from European Autohaus is comparable to everything I have had done elsewhere. Their rates are less than I paid at Audi dealers, and about the same as the other independent auto service I have used for the Audis.

    Precision Tune Auto Care 043-33
Amy at the front desk is extremely friendly and professional.  I wanted a used engine, low mileage, with a warranty and she found me exactly that.  Quoted me close to a week to get the job done.  Amy called during the tail end of the week and explained in great detail what happened.  Their mechanic put in the replacement transmission and there was no reverse.  They were working with their supplier to get a new one but the supplier was doubting that the one they sent was bad.  Precision had to break down my instrument panel to verify that it was not an electrical issue before the supplier would give them another transmission.  The job took about two weeks instead of one to complete which they were very concerned about would make my own transportation difficult.  Luckily I had another vehicle so it wasn't a problem on my end.  And I didn't have to worry about any additional fees for them doing the job twice.
I'm extremely pleased with their service and come back to them for all my auto service needs that I can't perform myself.  I especially appreciate their level of detail in what needs to be repaired, why, and anything else I should be aware of.  When I picked up the truck the mechanic mentioned that my torsion bars were at different heights (which he fixed)  and that I had an exhaust bracket missing which I opted to take care of myself.
Precision is friendly, they do a good job, and they stand behind their work.  What more could you want?

    Jenkins Automotive
Horrible! Dropped my car off on a Friday to have head gaskets fixed and called the following Wednesday to find out when it would be finished and was told the mechanic that took my engine apart no longer worked there. The guy then explained that typically the one that takes it apart puts it back together. Long story short 1 month later I picked my car up after paying $1400.00 and didn't even make it home before it started knocking and overheating. Jenkins would not do NOTHING about it. Whitmer's Tires & Service
Ms. Whitmer (woman-owned business; second generation!) gave me price estimates on new and rebuilt parts. Gave me computer readouts from my current starter. I okayed the work, and she had the vehicle finished two hours earlier than promised. Called my attention to front-end parts necessary to replace; gave me a cost estimate. I chose instead to sell the very high mileage vehicle. I have known her and her father for decades, always excellent in tires and front end work. She added general auto service to the service lines offered, has a knack to keeping good mechanics employed. Prices very reasonable. Very dependable.

    Valley Import Service LLC
Responsive, prompt attempt to diagnose intermittent noise. Thought he had, working from my description. He never could produce the noise, and i never could while he was along on a drive. Perversely, I heard the noise within a half block of leaving the shop. It was warranty check time, so I drove the car to the nearest Lexus dealer, 2 hours away. From my description, they fixed it.
