    Air Duct Care
he quickly went under the house and looked around, he was on time, he was very professional, although job was not completed. He offered a credit towards doing the whole job, which is 4400. by the time i think about it the offer will expire, but do i get my money back for the offer i purchase for 199.00 because that is a lot for just a look around?

    Crawl Masters
Mark and David arrived promptly and began working right away.  They pulled out and bagged up all the old poly and debrie and installed the new moisture barrier.  Mark said they would call me next summer and come out to inspect under the house to be sure there is still not a moisture problem.  From my first phone call to set up an appointment to the completion of the job, Somer, Mark and David were friendly and professional.  They are hard working conscientious young people who take pride in their work.  I would recommend them to anyone in need of an honest company.  Not at all pushy.

    A-1 Inc Exterminators
I previously had the home inspected and called out a termite company prior to purchasing it in April of this year.  The home is a foreclosure.  In addition, one of the pipe's had burst over the winter while the house sat unoccupied, so we had to have it repaired to ensure that the water actually worked.  Needless to say, THREE different professionals and my husband spent quite a bit of time in the crawlspace.
With so many people going under the house, we found out that the prior owner replaced a lot of the wood due to the fact that the house did have termites at some point.  Essentially, they remedied all issues under the house, sans the addition of a vapor barrier.  Point being, everyone mentioned how lucky we were and how "good it looks under there."
During the home inspection, another termite company in Tidewater gave us a quote that included the vapor barrier and a regular bug/termite package for the next year.  That quote was approximately $800.
When I saw this deal for the vapor barrier only - $200, I thought that was fair.  Until it turned out to be a scam.
When the guy finished his inspection and started spouting off about how much debris and wires and crap were under the house, I just scoffed and asked how I could get a refund.  I contemplated not writing this review, but realized had I not known that he was lying, I might have gone along with it.
If you use this company and the work involves something you can not see or are unwilling to access it in order to see it (crawlspace), ask for pictures of the issues prior to handing over money or better yet, go with a more reputable provider!

    Insulation Pros of America
Keith Murphy came to our house (2 hour drive) before the actual work was to be accomplished so he could go over their plans, discuss the insulation rating, take square footage measurements, offer options that would complement our current insulation factors, and schedule the actual service.  As our home is much larger than the offer, he had all the recommendations, plans, and costs right there in that session--quite reasonable at that and well worth the extra cost.  He wanted to ensure we had a plan that we were happy with, one that was the best for our home--and all before the team was scheduled to arrive.
He and his team were super--they made valiant efforts to reach our home in a snow storm, however they only made it halfway and had to turn back due to road conditions.  They showed up the following week and carried out the plan that we discussed with Keith to the letter--with no surprises.  They were very professional, high quality work, customer oriented, friendly, and they did not leave any mess in our home.  Thanks Keith for a job well done, kudos to your team, and again it was definitely worth the investment!  We highly recommend Insulation Pros of America to anyone wanting to increase their home comfort and save on energy costs!

A/C Masters Heating & Air Conditioning Inc
So we recently needed to make a decision on purchasing a new heating system. After getting quotes from many companies around the area I settled on the Mitsubishi system. After looking at the local dealers list on the Mitsubishi site I came across A/C Masters. I called them up and asked for a quote. Their quote not only beat every other quote I had but they also had the best system configuration. So we committed, a date was set (within a week of our commitment) and they came to install the system. The install was 99% error free, with the only error being a faulty outdoor unit. The technicians were awesome though staying until 9PM troubleshooting. They made the decision to replace the outdoor unit with a new one. We have had the system now for a couple of weeks and couldn't be happier, in fact as I write this it is 25 degrees outside and we are quite comfortable inside.

Michael Greene Painting & Home Improvements, Inc.
They were prompt, professional and detail oriented. They gave us a great estimate, they broke down everything. They have fair prices it's just we decided no to do the remodel. The quote they gave us was a fair quote.

    House Call Co
Workmen showed up on time and got and to work removing the old system.  Repaired some problem areas from the previous unit then installed the new system.  Rewired the upstairs to accommodate the dual thermostat capability and installed the baffling to allow for dual zone heating and cooling between the upstairs and downstairs portions of the house.  Once complete (on time in two days) checked and adjusted the system as needed to ensure it was operating correctly.  All technicians were professional and disciplined, and I would highly recommend them for the quality of their work.  Estimate for the total job was slightly higher then some estimates but the quality of the work, professionalism, and the little "extras" they threw in to complete the job made it well worth
    the cost.

    eShield of VA
I saw the advertisement for a free home energy assessment at a home-a-rama show in Va Beach. I knew I needed additional insulation in my attic so I thought I would take advantage of the offer to see what else could be done to improve the energy efficiency of my home. My home is 20 years old.  The energy assessment I was given was a joke compared to the one I just had from Ecovative of Virginia.  They did not do a blower door test to check for air infiltration.  He looked in the attic to determine how much insulation would be required and checked a door glass and window to show me the temperature.  Then he did a demo to show me what the eshield attic barrier does, checked my electric bills, and gave me tips on where homeowners tipically experience air infiltration. He showed me they guaranteed a minimum of 25% savings in heating and cooling in the first year.  Needless to say I have not seen that kind of savings.  He was really only interested in selling products.  When they done the work, one of the workers stepped through my cieling and didn't bother to come tell me.  I called the company and they said that happens and they would fix it.  I insisted it be fixed before they left that day.  I had to call them back to tell them the repair was unacceptable and they sent a company out that specializes in dry wall work.  It is still not the best but it is better than what they had left it that first day.  The company gave me a fire place insert for the inconvenience but didn't come install it.  I called them and they said it was so simple I could do it myself.  When Ecovative did my energy assessment this month, they couldn't put it in either and asked if EShield measured my fireplace before sending me the product.  They did not and they didn't even look inside the fireplace insert to ensure it would work.  I would never do business with them again or recommend them to anyone.

I had this big deal refunded because I set two appointments with this company and each time they never showed up. I would not do business with a company that cannot show up to an appointment they said they would.

James Mercaldo was the service provider. I got three bids and his was the lowest. He responded quickly to the request for a bid and he is a kind man. He indicated that he would start the last week of March, but, rescheduled for the next week. He indicated that he lost an employee and that caused his scheduling to run behind. He arrived on the new date that he promised and went to work. Overall the experience was good. The repair work was professional and James was a pleasure to work with. We have not had any problems with the areas he worked on. I would highly recommend him for handyman services.
