Basement Waterproofing reviews in Great Falls

    Basement Innovations Waterproofing
The basement waterproofing went fine. HOWEVER, do yourself a favor and get educated about sump pump drainage BEFORE the waterproofing is done. This company got the water out of our basement just fine, but changed the location of where the sump pump drained outside. This is now a major problem for us outside - estimates to fix the new outside water problem are almost equal to what we paid for the inside work. We should have thought twice when the worker suggested a "day of" change to the location of the sump pump from where it was located in the estimate. The company's response was basically "Hey, we got the water out of your basement." And "If you bury the drain pipe, you void the warranty." So I guess our bad for not understanding more about where the water was going to go. But, we've had a sump pump for the 25+ years that we've lived in this house and never had an outside water problem before now. Just sayin'.

They were very nice and professional from start to finish of the job. They answered phone calls and came out promptly to give an estimate on the work. The estimator took a lot of time to answer all my questions, showing pictures where applicable to explain everything. The foreman brought the crew on time both days, and he answered all my questions before, during, and at the end of the project without hurrying me or making me feel I was wasting his time. All the work seems right from what I can tell. We haven't had any rain yet, but they have a lifetime warranty that will cover the work if any water comes in. When the crew came out, they saw that we didn't need one of the window well taps that was in the contract because the window was far enough above grade. Without us even having the ask, the company corrected our price to reflect not putting that in.

    The Crack Man

From start to finish, this was a wonderful experience.  I found Alek on Angie's List, and checked out his reviews and website.  Since the picture on his website of the kind of cracks he fixes looked just like what I saw on my basement wall, I decided to call him.  He was professional at all times, informative, and easy to talk with.  It was clear he wanted to the fix the problem and not "upsell" me to a larger and more expensive solution.

He was more responsive than the other "wet basement" contractors, and was easy to schedule.  He showed up on-time, performed the work to our satisfaction, and explained his extensive warranty and when to call him if we need anything.

I will recommend him to others, and will call him in a New York Minute if we have any basement cracks to contend with in the future.

    The Foundation Expert
Our basement bedroom started to leak water after the August 2011 Northern Virginia earthquake, which may have had no relation.  Although it never leaked before the earthquake, this could have been an aging issue.  It leaked during each of our two major hurricanes in September 2011, then again in Superstorm Sandy October 2012.  At the first hurricane we thought it a fluke and went back to normal after cleanup.  We realized we had a problem with the foundation when the water under the carpet during Superstorm Sandy was actually muddy water suggesting earth was coming into the house somehow.
The Foundation Experts were highly professional from start to finish.  They had clear expertise and gave us great confidence that they knew exactly what they were doing.  We also were pleased with their Angie's List reviews. They explained things to us quite clearly so that we could understand.  They offered two pricing options as part of their bid--one a lower bid that would attack a localized smaller area for around $3000 and the higher bid that would address the entire side of the house for around $10,500.  Based on the possible aging issues of the house and that we intend to own the own for our adult lives, we elected to repair the entire side of the house to avoid any future issues.
The team did a good job inside and out, including dealing with surprises.  They were thorough in how deep they excavated, finding drainage piping at the foundation of the house coming somehow out of the bottom of the house that was not draining to anywhere that they added piping to to drain out properly toward the rear of the property, including adding a screen to ensure no pests could use it as a house entry point.  After doing crack/hole repair, they resurfaced where necessary, added waterproofing materials, drainage piping, and then backfilling.  Although our existing landscaping was disrupted, The Foundation Experts advised that in advance and also suggested that moving forward we use grass in that area to help absorb water better at the top of the ground.  They suggested that the way that area was previously landscaped was actually retaining water in a negative way right against the house.
They also repaired inside the house in the basement bedroom.  They did a treatment against for mold, cleaned and restored  the carpet, and repaired the water damage on the baseboard areas at point of water entry.  They even painted, matching the existing paint color to my pleasant surprise.  The basement bedroom was back in top-notch shape for our guests.
We were extremely satisfied, and we would recommend them to others facing foundation issues.

    Bright Construction Group
The only time there was any holdup in the work was when the weather did not cooperate.  The work was completed, pretty much as scheduled -- I have no complaints at all.  The company and employees were very professional and answered all my questions as I asked.  I highly recommend Bright Masonry for any work they may provide.  I will definitely use them again.  They are well qualified, they explain the process in detail and are very responsive when there are questions.

I could not be more pleased with this company.  Another contractor had told me it was a waterproofing issue and was ready to jack-hammer the foundation.  Jay cut a hole in the drywall and found a simple pipe leak -- which will save me more than $6000 in repairs AND fix the real problem.  Next time I will skip the other estimates and go straight to Basement Technologies.

    Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing of VA
After reading some horrendous reviews I cancelled my appointment for an estimate to repair a basement leak. As all the reviews indicated it is true this company will continually harass you calling all hours of the day and night, trying to pressure you into using their services. I have asked at least 5 times that they cease to call me and have threatened to sue them for harassment. Often they simply laugh. Telling them the work has already been performed works no better. Contact them at your own risk! President of the Virginia office is: Ed Fennell: 540-752-6900, 112 Juliard Ct. Fredericksburg, VA 22406. General Manager is: Keith McDonald. Best of luck.

    Apex Waterproofing
He proposed an exterior excavation which would result in removing any existing landscaping, installing various pipes and connecting a water system to a sump pump for a fee of $5,200.  The above is an extremely abridged description of his proposal which comprised four pages.  On the interior he proposed the removal of drywall and treating for mold for $1,865 and installing new drywall for $875.

Subsequently, I had two additional waterproofing companies come out and one civil engineer...all said to simply put a dehumidifier in the area.  My husband removed the drywall which took him all of forty-five minutes.  Mr. Peyton was going to remove all the drywall even though the problem resulted in a pipe breaking which was in the middle of the wall.  I have never had water in my basement but for the pipe breaking.

After receiving Mr. Peyton's proposal, I emailed him asking for clarification of some issues.  He did not respond to my initial email, I sent a second email and he did call me.  I was not at home so did not speak to him and have not heard from him since.

Mr. Peyton spoke at length about the exterior "grade" of the property which needed correcting.  In my email, I asked for clarification about the "grade".  His phone message to me was that he did not know what I was talking about as though he never mentioned "grade".

Two more inspections by waterproofing companies and a civil engineer inspection saved me $8,000.

    Basement Masters Waterproofing
I can't say enough positive things about Randall Butterfield and Basement Masters Waterproofing.  They came in after another company had totally botched the job and didi the work in a professional and thorough manner.  They had no problem in dealing with a woman (whereas many of the other companies wanted only to speak to the "man of the house.") and Randall spent tons of time explaining everything to me in great detail.  Whereas most other companies pass the work on after they "sell" you a contract, Randall came out and personally inspected the work even changing something he didn't like before requesting payment. We had them out a second time for repairing another foundation leak and Randall delivered exactly what he promised.
Basement Masters Waterproofing seems to always go the extra mile for the customer, after digging for a foundation leak they not only returned the dirt neatly they applied mulch on top so it would look better.
I can't say enough positive things about this company and do yourself a favor and look no further for basement and foundation waterproofing

I can not say enough negative things about this company.  It starts with a salesperson coming out asking for the man of the house and selling you a very expensive solution to "never having water in your basement again."  When questioned who would be supervising the work, he assured me he would.  Well that is not the case, this company then passes on the work  and the person who sells you the contract NEVER comes to make sure they are doing the right thing which in our case they did not.  Because they didn't do their homework they didn't realize until too late that there was no way to connect the exterior and interior drainage systems so they jackhammered our foundation for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.  THey then proceeded to remove a brand new sump pump that had been placed and put in a small shallow one.  Again this was done for no apparent reason.
To make matters worse, when questioned about why they didn't do what the contract stated, the supervisor threw his hands up and said "I am done with this job" and walked off but they still insisted on being paid in full.
Do not use these people, not only did they not fix the problem they made it worse than it was.  They are rude and horrible to deal with.
