Team arrived on time, performed work they were contracted for, finished within a reasonable period of time, were polite and respectful of the property and services were properly estimated as to cost. I would recommend as well as use them again!

Two guys came on time to my house. They were both very friendly and helpful. They told me that my chimney did not need to be cleaned and showed me pics of what it looked like from the roof. You could still see the clay on the inside! It had barely been used! So I only had to pay $50. This is why it pays to shop around and it just makes me so mad that there are people out there trying to rip us off. I am a single mom and do not have $400 to clean my chimney. Thank you Cougat's for being honest and reliable chimney cleaners!!! I highly recommend!

I absolutely did not like Eurotech Chimney Restoration. Three men came and they came right away. They spent a great deal of time doing nothing. They just talked about themselves and they asked me some questions. They looked back at the chimney and they did not go up the roof and look at the chimney from that standpoint. There were 2 fault places and they proposed solutions for each of them that were beyond the price, they were just very expensive, way too expensive. One of them was going to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $10000. They didn't know their industry very well. One of the places is in my bedroom. I found out that you need to be very careful as the county here has strict regulations about the size of gas inserts which I had considered and they didn't really know much about that. They didn't know what the town required and I had to find out myself. They responded somewhat in the house but they didn't even give me a price while they were here. One of the men had to call me back and he didn't when he said he was going to so I called them.

Castle Chimney Sweeps & Home Repair
We hired Castle Chimney Sweeps to replace a missing damper and to clean and seal the fire box and surrounding bricks blackened by soot from the previous owners use of a wood stove. Due to smoke allergies and asthma, we needed the fire box and bricks cleaned and sealed. We also needed a damper installed (none present) to seal the chimney from drafts. We also wanted to be sure there were no safety issues.
Owner Stuart Merting conducted a thorough examination of the fire box and interior and exterior of the chimney for structural deterioration, as well as fire and fume hazards . During his inspection, he took detailed photos of the top of the chimney and down into the interior of the chimney using a camera scope. Using the photos as reference, he then discussed his findings with us, most considered both fire and fume hazards. Thoroughly pleased with the details and explanation, we scheduled the job, which took a total of 3 days from demolition to final county inspection. Photos were taken during and after the job to show us what was being done. A county inspector examined everything when the work was complete.
The cement crown of our chimney was cracked and deteriorated, so it was removed and replaced. The current flue, narrow for use with a wood stove, was not up-to-fire-code for normal use and was removed and replaced with a larger diameter flue. For optimal weather sealing and insulation, a top-mounted, high efficiency damper with its brass pull-chain handle mounted inside the fire box for easy access was installed. For further insulation, Thermix, a material which expands inside the chimney, was poured into the empty spaces around the flue to seal against drafts. The final part of the job involved cleaning and paint-sealing the fire box in black and removing as much as possible of the soot from the wood stove that had soaked into the hearth bricks. Both processes involved chemical use; however, a high-power, reversed fan at the top of the chimney was used, so that we were unable to detect any odor. Clean-up of the exterior and interior work spaces was perfect.

I definitely got my money's worth, and learned a lot about the operation and care/maintenance of fireplaces and chimneys. I was prepared to be disappointed w/ a very cursory inspection, but the detail that they went into, checking the inside and outside impressed me that they're weren't there to just and quot;check the boxand quot; and get their name out. Will definitely look to use them going forward, looking at a mechanical cleaning in the near future.

    Neat Sweep
We had never had the chimmey cleaned and meant to get  a cap for years. With the house being over 20 years old , thought it was time.  Dave provided pictures on a camera to confirm the problems he found.  He also took care of scheduling the next appt and I received a call to confirm they were scheduled the day before.  Very smooth process.

Total for Cleaning, Cap and Repairs ended up being $504.

A-1 Chimney Sweep and Power Wash
They clearned the chimney and while cleaning the fireplace he found the mortor had been softened and the first three rows of bricks were loose. We had been told previously (about 2 yrs ago) that some cracks were there and wanted over $700 to repair. When A-1 looked at damage they showed us what was wrong (pulled out a brick and pointed out damage) and said it could be repaired for onlu $400. We also had another chimney that needed a cap and sealed the vent which was no longer needed and they did both jobs for only $600.  We were very happy with work and the man was on time and very polite. He was unable to complete both jobs the first day as he had another appointment to go to, but we scheduled another date a few days later and they came and completed the second repair.

They weren't real personable but the job got done. He asked them if they can do additional work and they said our chimney is twisting too much and it would be unsafe for them in which I respect. I guess a few negative things would be it took them forever to call back but they have a great reputation and they do my father n laws place. You know probably a little bit of customer service improvements would be the biggest thing.
