Nova Medical & Urgent Care Center

I use the Gainesville office and see Dr. Phillips. She answers all my questions, is pleasant, and knowledgeable. The office staff is friendly and for the most part you are seen at your scheduled time without a long wait.  I also have walked in to use the Urgent Care and there has never been a long wait.

The professionalism of the PT staff was terrific.  The administration, and the nursing staff and technicians were  very unprofessional.  A beautiful clean facility where the failings are all human failings.  I would not recommend it.

    Active Spine & Sport
I've been seeing him for about a year and a half. The thing that is important for people to know is that this chiropractor is certified in Active Release Technique. This is not typical chiropractic practice. This works with releasing pressure points and releasing muscles and he works with a lot of tri-athletes. Its all good because he's keeping me going. I'm 67 and I have a lot of arthritis. It is his ability to do the ART that puts him in a different ball game than many others. There are wonderful people there.

    Gainesville Family Practice
They are okay and are kind of like an HMO. I have established a relationship with a CPN; I thought she was a doctor. I do like her. I probably would not give them a lot of stars to be honest. You get what you pay for. Obviously, the price is right and my insurance pays for whatever they do, but I also think they probably don't take a lot of interest in their patients or their concerns. They kind of minimize my problems and I don't think there is a lot of concern to try to figure out what is going on. It is a lot easier solution. They are no different than any other HMO. They are pleasant enough, but do not go out of their way, that's for sure. Their availability is pretty good. They are convenient and are very near my home.

    Gupta, Dr. Alok K.
He is responsive and professional. I like his medical expertise and it is easy to get an appointment. He is very courteous and they have a friendly staff. They have been wonderful and I have been going to him for six years. I have referred countless patients because he is medically sound. It is easy to get a referral. He is the third doctor I have gone to and once I went to him I have not gone anywhere else.

    Bennett, Ricardo

Initial visit was a little confusing because there is no sign inside or outside telling you the doctors names.

Upon entering the staff was watching TV in the waiting room and talking on their cell phones because it was lunch time. When lunch was over and it was time for the patients to go back, a few members of the staff walked the halls still on their cell phones. Being in the dental field for over forty years, I was not pleased with the staff appearance. It was not professional with over the top painted nails, see thru uniform pants, too much jewelry and make up. Note this was not all of the staff but some. Examining rooms are clean, and Dr. Bennett was very knowledgeable and professional. He was concerned about my condition and spent enough time with me so I felt that he really was concerned to find a solution to my problem. Overall, was a good experience.

It is a group of doctors. They are very good at fitting you in for an appointment, they are very caring, they gave me the name of the primary care doctor that I was looking for, because I haven't been happy with the doctor that I was looking for. They were able to make a good recommendation, they are very informative, they are very good at keeping you up to date with test results, and that kind of things. I have used them since August of 2011.

Dr. Susan Fitzgerald is my doctor there and I have been with her for twelve years. The staff is nice but her son is an introvert. The office is simple. Dr. Fitzgerald is fantastic and a great doctor. I am crazy about my doctor. It is nothing like I have had before, it is a relationship and I am not just another number. She is almost like a friend. When I am there with her, I am her number one priority. I was in California, I ran out medication, I called her, left her a message, and she called me on Saturday at 7 pm at the house telling me that she was sending in the prescription right away, how many doctors do that? You don't get that. She is the best.

Novant Health Prince William Medical Center
This was the second time we had a baby delivered at Novant Prince William Medical Center (formally Prince William Hospital). Our experiences were night and day, as the first delivery was excellent. The second time, the service and treatment was horrible.
We went to Novant Prince William Hospital for the planned delivery of our baby via cesarean section. The operation and/or delivery of baby went excellent, all of the doctors, nurses and staff were awesome. The immediate post operative care by the nurses was superior and effective. As far as that portion of our experience they were excellent.
However, once we were transferred to the Birthing Center (Maternity Ward), our experience changed dramatically. On the positive side, the baby did receive proper and attentive care. However, the treatment of the mother was absolutely sub-standard, especially considering she just had a cesarean section. Specifically, the mother did not receive proper pain management for 24 hours after her surgery. Obviously, this resulted in extreme pain and discomfort for the mother. The doctor had ordered specific pain medication, which two different shifts of nurses failed to read, follow the orders, or administer said medication. Various items (i.e. heating pad) were asked for and never brought. Once we spoke with the treating doctor the next day, numerous nurse supervisors spoke with us about the errors and attempted to remedy the problem. To the supervisors credit, they were very professional, friendly, and apologetic. Additionally, attitudes from some of the nursing staff were less then friendly and probably contributed to the lack of attentiveness and communication. It is very easy to see which nurses are just going through the motions of their jobs and which ones legitimately care. The mother and child must be treated as a whole to effectively complete treatment.
We spoke with two lactation consultants. Both were very responsive in coming to our room. One was very personable, relaxed, and generally helpful. However, the other consultant lacked interpersonal skills, and made comments which felt like she was passing judgment about the choices we were making.
Overall, we would not have another baby nor recommend Novant Prince William Medical Center for birthing needs, as there are numerous other hospitals in the area.

Calling to get the appointment at 4:30pm, I was the 18th person in line on the call. I waited on hold for more than an hour. They have many drs, and are open late, but didn't have many appointment options. Got in the next day and arrived early...but, I was not seen early. I was seen slightly after my appointment time, but (here is the kicker!) waited in the room for the dr for more than 1/2 an hour. No apologies. Dr came in, made a general diagnosis, and left. Quick visit, once I saw the dr.
My family has gone to BRFP for some time, and they have gotten MUCH LARGER over the past ten years. Expanding as they have, I think they have drifted from patient care, and really become an insurance billing machine. A disappointment...we will be seeking another family practice.
