David Sampson and his team are just the best. True professionals. From start to finish the project could not have gone better. I highly recommend you speak with David if you have an insulation project. He will walk you through all the options and explain all in detail. The work was done in March. The first day the team removed all the attic insulation. I was amazed it was vacuumed out so clean. The attic looked just like it was before they insulated 20 years ago in 1999. The next day the put down the foam and blew in the insulation. Clean up inside and out was immaculate. Looking forward to July to see how well the system works. We just installed a new Trane system in the attic back In October. We have only used the AC a couple times this year mainly due to pollen and my hayfever. I know how well my Yeti coolers work and suspect this will do the same.

    Adelphia Exteriors
Great!  Very happy with this job although the extreme cold weather hasn't arrived yet so the true test is yet to happen.  Added extra insulation to my home, placed ventilated boxes above 12 recessed lights to stop heat going up through the lights.  Added expansion foam in areas where air seepage was occurring from my first and second floors to my attic.  I feel it has made a difference in the warmth of my home.  Last year my house last year was very cold.  This year it has been very comfortable.  This has been one of my best experiences with companies via Angie's List.  This is a family owned company.  The Koutsis family is wonderful to work with.
One other estimate I received to do the same work was over $7,000.  It was a blessing to find this company on Angie's List.  Keep up the good work Adelphia Exteriors!

    Efficient Attic Systems by ARS
Brad was wonderful. He came out and inspected out attic. Explained to us that we didn't have enough insulation in some areas and that our attic floor had cracks that was letting heat and air escape into the attic which was very evident. Brad was schedule to come out on a Monday when he arrived to pick up his truck to do the job it had a flat tire. He knew that I had an appoint that afternoon and was on a time crunch so he called me to explain that he could come but was concerned that it may run into my appt time. He asked if I wanted to change his installed to Wednesday so he could do a thro job, which I had no problem. Brad and Stefon called 30 minutes prior to arriving show me and explained as they worked. He was also going to blow insulation under my bedroom floor thru in the garage ceiling but after he cut and hole determine if it was needed. He discover it was not needed and patched hole. I could asked for a better job. They cleaned up after themselves very nice people.

    Efficient Attic Systems by ARS
Brad gave a detailed, thorough written estimate of how to best air seal and insulate the attic. He had expert knowledge which correlated accurately with all of our online research, including pricing. Brad, TIm and Stefan arrived on time, were careful to keep the house clean, and performed all the work in the 3.5 h timeframe they had promised. They came on a Saturday (and also for the estimate) which was very helpful for those who work M-F. They reviewed the plan again before starting, after finishing and showed us the final results. The house is finally warm and comfortable! I would highly recommend this company for their honesty, excellent work and customer service.

    Summit Environmental Solutions Inc
I'm writing this review within my daughter's Angie's List account rather than my own which is located in Austin, TX.  Even though Angie's List says I'm a Plus member and can use any provider throughout the U.S., I have difficulty with the website letting me write a review or find providers in Virginia.  Therefore I googled to find a provider for what I described was the problem above.
    _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
My first hand account/review of Summit Environmental Solutions (which I could have found on Angie's List) is as follows:
I was very stressed to learn from my home inspector that there was a major mice infestation in all 3 attics of a home I am under contract to purchase in Gainesville, VA.  I was on the phone with several companies found on HomeAdvisor.com after searching Google.  [I had already asked Affordable Pest to visit the home in Gainesville, VA.  AP came out and scared the sellers with an outrageous estimate and the listing agent refused to ask the Seller to comply.   Also the written estimate I requested from AP was a few sentences even after I followed up with a phone call asking them to provide details.]
Donna at Summit Environmental Solutions phoned me (as I am the negotiating the purchase of a new house) directly as a result of my inquiry to HomeAdvisor.com.  I had talked to three providers already over a period of 4 hours and with all the variables to solve the mice problem, remove/replace different types of insulation and how companies bill for components of the job I was ready to give up.
The Sellers have a 6 month pest control contract with a local pest control company and now have treated the attics for the mice problem and sealed up one hole on a hose from the air conditioning unit.  They are transferring the remaining 3 months of the contract for pest control to me as the buyer.  I still plan to purchase the home but it will be necessary for me to get someone out to evaluate what needs to be done to disinfect, seal up all possible entry points and give me another free estimate to remove the urine/feces stained/burrows/tracked existing insulation and install new insulation up to current code.
Donna followed up with me on the phone and I plan to call SES once I've closed and am living in the home and my finances are stabilized (as my home in Austin, TX has now been removed from the market during the holidays and I'll now have the added expense of my Austin home).
Donna's knowledge of the issues and presentation of various options and pricing (after SES went out to the home and completing a thorough inspection for FREE) have given me confidence that when I call them to come back and re-evaluate the condition of the problem, they will suggest what is needed and provide me with some choices.  I can't emphasize enough how comforting and supportive Donna has been.  Plus, I like the fact that this company uses environmentally safe products and guarantees their work.  I also like that they are a family run business for over 20 years and strive for 100% customer satisfaction.
My only regret is that I wish I had been able to send SES out to begin with as Chris (the technician) was able to explain the problem, showed the Seller photos of what he found and developed a professional rapport with the Seller.  However, and in spite of SES's summary of the problem, the Seller and Listing Agent did very little to remediate the problem.  I know when I get through all this -- the closing on the home, handling the long distance move and what I feel is necessary to make this house my new home I will look back on this unnecessary over-the-top stressful experience and be glad there are companies out there like Summit Environmental Solutions.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It turned out to be a lot more expensive than I thought it would be. The amount of work I needed required more people so I got the credit for the Big Deal, but I also had to pay for an additional person. They do a good job. They were clean, thorough, and billed me for whatever hours that they worked, and then they billed me more than that. It's just that you have to be careful of how much work you are going to give him.

    Quality Insulation
Owner called me to set up an appointment, I asked how much will it costs, I gave the square footage of my house and told him I have an existing blown insulation on the house and he gave me an estimate around 1700.00 what is not clear to me is how he arrived at those numbers, since were not insulating the whole attic, I just wanted to increase the R factor of the attic. He said honestly that it would depend on how much they would have to use.He wasn't pushing to do the job. I would reconsider his service in the future.

    Jenkins Restorations
Jenkins Restorations repaired/restored our home after it was struck by lightning and caught fire on 7/11/2011. The lightning struck our gas meter and the electrical charge entered our house on the flexible stainless steel gas line. It arched off into the house wiring and smoldered/burned inside the finished basement walls and ceiling before starting to spread. and quot;Pipand quot;, from Jenkins Restorations, arrived while the fire dept. was still here. He offered Jenkins' services, gave us a business card and then left. We still don't know how he learned of the fire- we've been told they monitor the emergency services bands.
We called Pip the following morning and he met us for a tour of the house to survey the damage. We gave him permission/authorization to make arrangements for the emergency water remediation in the basement. He gave us a folder with information about Jenkins Restorations so we could do our research and decide if we wanted Jenkins to do the whole restoration job. We did do our research and based on our findings and attorney review of the contract, we decided to contract with Jenkins do the whole job.
We only have good things to say about Jenkins Restorations and the work they did to restore our home after a devastating fire
in 2011. From our initial contact with Pip Patterson on the night of the fire to follow-up meetings with Jeremy Jenkins, and many subsequent meetings with Brian Catts our project manager, we found every single Jenkins representative to be highly professional, knowledgeable and responsive . In addition to their work related skills, these are some of the kindest, most empathetic and compassionate human beings on the face of the earth. Even the sub-contractors were top-notch and did a great job. I hope we never suffer another house related catastrophe, but if we do, we would not hesitate to hire them again.
Keep in mind, the idea of perfection in this industry is pure myth-it simply does not exist. The best one can hope for is to find a well-managed company that has integrity and is competent enough to complete the job properly. Jenkins always met and frequently exceeded our expectations. There were a few times when we expressed concerns or disagreement, but we always felt
as though they took our concerns seriously and they always handled things fairly, and reasonably. A couple of times, they made a mistake here or there. They never tried to weasel out of it or try to cover it up. They always owned up to it and made it right. It always felt like we were dealing with true professionals. In the spirit of fairness, I suppose I have to admit that we also (Ahem) might have made a few mistakes here and there-but Brian and crew always treated us gently, kindly and graciously. Another thing that greatly impressed us was how responsive they were anytime we called and no matter what we asked-special kudos to Brian Catts in that department. He never once failed to return our calls promptly. I think communication with the customer is but one of their many strong suits.
Ours was not a small job-it took a little over a year to move back into our house (We're calling it and quot;House 2.0and quot;). We love being home again. The funny thing is, our Jenkins crew isn't here anymore and we find ourselves missing them!

    James A Trow
We consider ourselves very lucky to have Jimmy working on our house. We've run into more damage than we expected when we started this project. Plus when we decided we wanted to add a small front porch, Jimmy designed one for us and gave us an estimate the next day. He has worked cheerfully through rainy days, delays caused by the power company, surprises that kept getting uncovered as the work progressed and changes that we've made. He's discussed any problems he's run into and advised us of any additional cost. He came highly recommended to us by a friend of ours who was familiar with work he had done, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone else. The work is not finished yet but I can't imagine anything coming up that would change our opinion.
