    Modern Remodeling Inc
Jason Reed at Modern Remodeling made this the easiest home improvement from start to finish! I filed the claim and then he took over, meeting the adjuster and making sure we got everything we were entitled to. He responded to my emails 7 days per week and was always in touch letting us know when and what would happen next. I would highly recommend Jason and Modern Remodeling again and again!!

    Peak Roofing Contractors Inc
Peak Roofing did a great job for us. They were prompt, professional, and did quality work. I did not feel like they tried to run the bill up with unneeded repairs. We have already contracted with them to replace the siding next and then the windows. Can't go wrong with Peak Roofing!

Mid Atlantic Construction of Virginia Inc
I start this review debating if I should be upset or if I should let my sarcastic side come out to cope with the frustration that I have to put up with when working with MAC. But I will try my best to keep this as serious as possible. Our dilemma started on November 9. The MAC Project Manager (PM) came over to our house to tell us what is being installed. We quickly went over the contract to replace the roof, window screens, and gutters then signed off on the color of the roof. He then told us to call the office to make a (huge) payment so they can order materials. He informed us that they will be in contact with us and that our roof will be completed well before Christmas. Fast forward a month later. No call or email regarding our roof. This concerns us because we just handed the company thousands of dollars and we would have thought a company would extend the common courtesy to reach out to the customer let us know that they have not forgotten us and they will be scheduling the roof soon. However, we never heard anything from them. We emailed the PM asking about our roof and received no response. We then called the office and was told they would call us back but that phone call was never returned until we called and told them how an appointment was never made by the PM. We then received a call from the scheduler to replace our roof on December 16 then subsequently December 17. After the roof was completed the contractors left and I was left wondering why the windows and gutters were not done. I had to call to ask why it was not complete. Only then was I told that these are two separate crews who will do the work and they will call to schedule an appointment to replace. This was the second issue I have with MAC - lack of communicating to the customer the process. Well we waited and waited for a 2 weeks and no phone call. So we called the office to make the appointment ourself instead of waiting for the scheduler. So now we were scheduled for Dec 31 to replace our gutters. Well, we received a call from MAC to reschedule to Jan 2 and we accepted the new date. On January 2 we waited, and waited, and waited. No one showed up. We called the office and they were closed. We left a message and heard nothing the next day. We finally called and they told us they didn't do work on Jan 2 because they were closed (obviously). Strike 3! Well the gutters were replaced on January 4. And as I drive up to my home the first thing I notice is how white the gutters were. Like blaring white! My previous gutters were beige to match the color of our house. We called the PM and left a message. Guess what?! No phone call. Shocking. He waited a couple days later to talk to us in person because he had to come to our home to repair our window screens. What happened to calling and letting us know you received our messages? Strike 3... or is it 4?! I lost count with all the headaches we have to deal with when working with them. When the PM got to our house he even admitted that the color was wrong and he will let us know what they will do to resolve it. Drum roll... after a week of waiting, no phone call. So wanting to save the company some effort in picking up the phone to call us, we called them this past Friday Jan 13. The gutter scheduler had no idea that our gutters had to be corrected. So she would let us know once she talks to the PM what needs to be done next. Well it's Monday, January 16, and we were just told that we signed a contract for white gutters. Hold up!! When going into this process we were under he impression that everything will be replaced of like-kind and quality. When we signed the contract the only thing the PM stressed was the color of the roof shingles. In fact we had to initial the contract to show that we are accepting the roof color. Everything else on the contract was just breezed over and acknowledging that our gutters and windows will be repaired as well. No where in that conversation was the color being brought up. We figured this was standard operating procedure because it's being replaced of like-kind and quality. So now we are at this point, waiting for the General Manager to call us for the second time to resolve another issue of the lack of communication and customer service. This has been an awful experience having to work with the company and their Project Manager. I have been in the construction industry my entire career and this is, by far, very unacceptable. The story is not over yet... more to come!

Tom was prompt and forthright. He offered three screen options, I chose the one he recommended, he alerted me the day before the work and he and another worker did the job very efficiently. I am satisfied that I made the right choice and would hire again.

    Style Roofing
Excellent experience and results!  We have used Style Roofing in the past to fix a roof leak and were happy to use them again for our new roof.  They also arranged for new gutters.  They were very efficient and professional, finishing in just two days. They fully cleared the yard of all debris and leftover materials.  We could not have asked for a better experience.

    Lacey Home Repairs
We were extremely happy with Steve Lacey throughout the entire process. I originally called him to ask him to repair the loose shutters on the front of our house. He returned my call quickly and was very helpful during our conversation. Because of my initial interaction with him, I ended up asking him to look at all of the issues we'd been having in our home. We set up a time to meet so that he could walk through our home with us to look at the various repairs we needed done.
The day of our estimate, he was punctual and we were immediately impressed by his vast knowledge. It was clear that he was very experienced. He gave me the feeling that he genuinely cared about us and what was best for our home. He spent a lot of time with us, walking through our house room-by-room, commenting on all of the issues we needed help with. If there was something he didn't do, he gave us a recommendation for someone who could do it.
Within a week, he had provided us with an estimate. We decided to do some of the work now, and some of it later. The day he came to do the work, he was on time, and did excellent work. We were very happy with the repairs that he made. He even got the work done in less time than he had quoted us in our estimate. He had a few minutes left at the end and offered to make a couple of quick repairs before the hour was up. So we ended up coming in at less than he had quoted us, and had more work done than expected.
We are looking forward to having him complete our list in the coming months. We would enthusiastically recommend him to anyone looking for a handyman!

    MasterShield Gutters & Guards
After procrastinating way too long with deteriorating gutters and watching the edge of my roofline impersonate Niagara Falls during storms,  I decided to address the problem by contacting Mastershield.  Prior to doing so, I had performed detailed research on the internet, comparing various gutter systems with a specific eye to performance over time.  My research led me to Mastershield, and specifically to Tom Kahn's family-run gutter installation business which just happened to be "down the street" from us.

Tom came out in late March, performing a walkaround with me, detailing his opinion on what needed fixing and what didn't.  He recommended upsizing the lower front gutters and downspouts to 6" from 5" due to the runoff from the upper story.  The integrity of the remaining gutters was fine, and he recommended only installing Mastershield on those, after making sure they were completely cleaned out first.  Tom's demeanor was professionally relaxed with no sales pressure whatsoever.  It was a pleasant experience.

After the walk-around, Tom spent some time crafting an estimate on the spot and then discussed each line item with me and gave me a price for the entire job, including the Angie's List discount.  The estimate of $4K was in the ballpark of what I had expected.  The final price matched the estimate exactly.

The job was scheduled for April 8th.  The crew showed up and performed all of the work in a single day.  They were professional and had a high level of expertise.  There were no additional problems or issues that cropped up during installation.  Near the end of the day, the lead installer performed a post-installation walk-around with me, showing and explaining exactly what they did.  Everything in the contract was fulfilled.
The one minor drawback, which has been noted by some other reviewers, is that not all of the trash was removed after job completion.  It wasn't a big deal, as it took me less than 5 minutes to pick up a couple of the old mesh guards that had been discarded, along with a bag of other trash and a couple of excess scraps left on the lawn.  I informed Tom, who was very apologetic and stated that he would reemphasize the clean-up issue with the crew.  Again, it was no big deal, but it was one area that I noted could be improved.

So what's the bottom line?  Let's just say that we've had a couple of big rain events, one of which dumped 5 inches of rain (!) on us, and the gutters performed flawlessly.  I cannot tell you how gratifying it was to see the end of Niagara Falls and not have to worry about potential foundation damage now that all the water is being redirected properly.  Also, I have noted no problem with "tree trash" during springtime, potentially interfereing with the Mastershield system.  There have been no blockages or issues with runoff to date.

The recommendation to upgrade the front gutters to 6 inches was excellent.  I'm incredibly happy with the entire job and its results.  The price was not cheap, but I'll gladly pay a little extra for top quality, and top quality is exactly what I received.  Thanks to Tom and the crew!

    MasterShield Gutters & Guards
Installed gutter guards over existing gutters on very high gutters to prevent leafs/debris from clogging the gutters.  These are locations that where I could not safely reach the gutters.  They voluntarily, at no cost, did a second gutter, leading to a total length that was a bit greater than what I purchased.  I was very surprised and pleased that MasterGuard felt it was important to do this to protect this section of the roof as well.

    Liberty Home Remodeling
Everything went very smoothly including working with the insurance company and the Va Oaks HOA. We got full coverage for the shingles and gutters based on earlier hail damage. LHR crews were hre ealrly and worked all day to complete the effort. There were minor adjustments due to crew schedules but LHR maintained good communications and we have no issues with what and how they did things. When the clean up in back needed to be improved, Jordon was here that day to rectify the situation. We are very happy at this point. Since the work was covered by insurance, we did not fill in the cost since in only involved the deductible on the policy.

    LeafFilter Gutter Protection
Had Wayne come out and give us an estimate and he was very detailed about the estimate breakdown and product that they currently offered. Since they offered us multiple discounts for scheduling our upcoming service the same evening as the estimate along with paying via check vs. credit card, I was happy to setup the service appointment for the following week.
Work was completed 10/5/12 and looks good, despite the cleanup efforts that were not up to my standards. The installer left the gutter debris in my yard along with a couple of gutter hanger screws in the driveway area of my house. I went to the Manassas, VA office to pick up my warranty card after service was completed 10/5 and to submit my payment and was greeted by Ray the project manager. He told me he would come to my house and do an on-site inspection and would personally add the drain screen we ordered to the basement so that the walkup would be clear of leaf debris. The first rain we had wasn't too hard so we will continue to monitor the gutter systems performance.
