Fence Company reviews in Gainesville

    Builders Fence Co
I've noticed several poor reviews, specifically a few that complained about being talked down to as a woman. I should have taken those reviews more seriously. I first dealt with Chuck who was nice enough but didn't seem to know all of the requirements for installing a fence. First I was told a permit wasn't needed then a permit was needed, which would of course change the cost. Next the survey I provided was sufficient then they needed different documentation and then back to the survey was sufficient. After several emails and a week later I was contacted by Dave Swisher who was nothing but rude and condescending. While on the phone he continually interrupted me and at my home he was extremely flippant. I got the feeling that he thought he could bully me by talking over me because I was a woman. He spoke to me as though I was stupid because I didn't understand the intricacies of the process of having a fence installed........I thought that's why I hired this company to begin with. When I questioned him regarding his attitude he told me that I was taking his comments the wrong way yet he made no attempt to ensure that I was understanding them the "right way". When Mr. Swisher came to my house to locate the property pins he informed me that he couldn't find them so I would have to hire another company to come out and decipher the property lines for him. When I expressed that I was unhappy about another setback and another cost increase he told be that I was being hostile. It has been five weeks since I first contacted this company and I have been given conflicting information, treated poorly, and will now be looking for another fencing company (even though Mr. Swisher informed that I would not be able to find any other fence company to install my fence).

They seem not to understand how appointments work. I am home and they need to come to my home to do an in person estimate. I received an email saying to call the estimator and he wanted to discuss it over the phone, which is not why I made an appointment. I am a very responsible person and I have never missed an appointment. I tired of this type of company where they call and if they cannot reach you they don't come. Then why did I make an appointment???? I did receive a call but I did not recognize the name or the number and I blocked it. If companies want to call before they come then they need to furnish phones that show the company's name. I will not be doing busy with this company again.

    Upper Deck and Fence LLC
We lived in our house for almost four years without a fence.  We have two dogs so it was a pain to always take the dogs out back on a leash.  We decided that this was the year to get a fence.  We shopped around and decided Upper Deck was the best fit.  They were also the lowest cost.  I was a little worried that the quality of the work because they beat out all of the competition by a long shot.  It turns out that I had nothing to worry about.  The guys did a great job and we are very happy to finally have a fence.  We will definitely reach out to them for a quote when we're ready to put up a deck.
Also, the trash hide was a nice little bonus.  We initially kept the garage cans in our garage (HOA says they have to be out of sight in garage or hidden on side of house).  Well, we needed more room in our garage so the cans had to go.  You can hardly see the trash hide from the street and when you can see it - it looks like a piece of the house and not something thrown up to hide some cans.

Since our first review, this company has contacted us to apologize for not getting back to us and provided us with a quote for our fence.  We will definitely consider using them in the future, as I'm sure from this point forward we will receive nothing but excellent service and quality of work!  Thank you Dave for the follow up!

    Alger Fence & Deck
From estimate to completion, Tony and his team did an excellent job.  I contacted Tony on a Thursday and he came out that Saturday to survey the job and prepare the estimate.  After a few days, we got the estimate back and scheduled a time to pay the deposit and sign the contract.  Tony indicated it would take about 3 weeks to get on the schedule and start the work (this included time for them to get the plans reviewed and permit provided by the county).  The work started on time and proceeded over the course of a couple of weeks (slowed a bit due to an intervening holiday and some weather).   The work was of high quality and the finished product looks great, meeting and exceeding our expectations!  There was a minor issue with the county's final inspection (the fault of the county inspector in my opinion) that was quickly addressed and resolved by Tony and his team.  All in all, a great experience and a great deck!  I would highly recommend Tony and his team.

    MC Fence

We needed to add  an 8 ft gate to move larger lawn equipment to the back of our lot. The vinyl fence was  already in place but we had no idea who had  done the original work. W e had  called some other companies during the summer but got no response as  this was not a big  job. We waited till fall. We called one company and  got no  reponse. We got  an immediate reponse when we called  MC Fence. They came out the next day after I called their office and explained what we needed done.  KC arrived promptly ,talked to us and gave us some info on vinyl fences that we did not  know.

We went over  some possibilities on how to do the new gate- he gave us some options that considered  price. We decided what we wanted and he sent us  an email estimate shortly thereafter. The estimate was very clear as to what was to done, They also replaced the tops on two of the  new gate posts and had to  search to find ones like the others we had. They called the day before they came to do the actual installation and gave us a time. They were prompt. The crew was professional and the completed work was  well done. KC was there the day of installation and after seeing the  completed work ( it blended in very well with  old fence. ) we decided to replace the main gate in the same way with a new gate.   The replacement of second gate two weeks  later went just as smoothly. I would  recommend MC Fence without hesitation. We are pleased with the two new gates.

Atlantic Deck & Home Renovation Inc
Bottom line: I am very pleased with the deck and fence, the project manager, and the crew. Atlantic did the job within their estimated time frame, the only change order was one I initiated for additional lights, the crew was top notch, and the project manager did an excellent job to keep me up to date on the next steps each day. They weren't the cheapest estimate, but the other company who had the best presentation has gotten very poor reviews since we got their estimate and actually walked away from one of my neighbor's jobs after they failed inspection. Atlantic was the right choice and I would hire them without reservation in the future.
    Long story:
I will say that there were some early delays in getting the project started. Some were due to my scheduling, and some were due to Atlantic. My dealings with the owner were by email only after my initial estimate which was thorough. I did not receive return phone calls, and did not get my plans back until right before they were scheduled to break ground. Going into the actual start of the project, I was to be honest, a bit leery and did not have the best of feelings about this job. Two days before the job started, the project manager, Bryant called me up. At this point, everything changed.
From that point on, my only dealings were with Bryant and the crew led by Calemerio. The crew are not Atlantic employees, but they are the same 3 guys that came every day for the next three weeks and did every single bit of the work. Bryant set up a time to meet with me at my house, went over the plans with me and showed me how everything was going to be laid out. When we were done, the crew arrived to have a meeting with him as well. They began the work the next day and encountered significant challenges with the large boulders and rocks in my backyard. They worked incredibly hard in very hot conditions and used every tool imaginable to dig the holes for the footings the required depth for the county. While they were waiting for that inspection, they began doing as much framing as they could. These guys never stopped working, took almost no breaks, were courteous, and kept a very clean job site. I received daily email updates or phone calls from Bryant and he stopped by every single day to check on the crew.
We passed every county inspection on the first shot and when I discovered some minor issues during the building process, they were corrected the very next day. They were able to construct a very large deck with three major sections in a very nice herringbone design using a composite material with a contrasting border. The steps were custom wrap around, so everything had to be made specific for this deck.
Bryant ensured my deck was finished and my yard cleaned up before a party I was having so that my guests would not be stepping over debris waiting to be cleaned up. The crew was diligent to count every single board that was delivered to make sure they weren't shorted and when I wanted more lights in the stairs, had them delivered and installed without any delay.
The fence is pretty standard - 6 foot scalloped privacy, but Bryant and the crew were very careful to discuss everything with me for the gate placement and they knocked the fence out in less than 3 days including digging all the posts and making the custom gates. These guys even offered to help me carry a grill up onto my deck on their lunch break.
Bryant is a total asset to Atlantic. I understand that Calemerio and his crew were new to working with Atlantic, but their experience in carpentry and construction was very apparent. Bryant and Calemerio exhibited the right level of communication with me, the homeowner, and professional judgement that didn't require my approval.
As with any company like this, they tell you upfront that they do not do landscaping, so expect some trampled and dead grass and some dirt piles when they are finished. However, every scrap of material was removed from my property.
There has been one final set of adjustments needed to the gate hardware, and they haven't asked for the final 10% payment until I've reviewed it and walked through the fence with them to close out the project.
My experience started out a bit uneasy, but once I met with my project manager, everything went off without a hitch. I'd hire them again without question.

    MC Fence
We are trying to repair a fence that we are selling, and we need a new fence put up on the house that we are buying, and they were very understanding of that process, and they probably greatly reduced their price. Their customer service has ben great so far. Their efficiency stood out the most.

    Catlett Construction
They showed up early, clean smelling, clean dressed, ready to work, with a great attitude and seemed very knowledgeable.  Did a walk through of the property with me going over every detail before beginning, to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted and needed. They even gave me material care instructions upon completion and left my yard cleaner than they found it! The fence looks beautiful and the price was unbeatable. The level of customer service I'd say was held to the highest possible standard.  I am completely satisfied.

    Beitzell Fence Co
They came early because I needed to leave to go to work. So, they came spoke with me measured and gave me a quote. At this point I was still shopping around so I called them back a few times and added a few things that I wanted added to my quote. Every time I did this they provided me with an email noting the corrections very quickly. Great choice! They came in quick and came home to a finished fence.
