Great work. We love our new basement, all of the work was completed as we wanted. The work was better than our original builder. Our new bathroom we had built in the basement turned out better than expected and is currently one of the nicer bathrooms in the house. Tile work tured out well and has not had not had any problems with cracking. No problem with the plumbing and electrical work. The LED lights they put in are bright and work well. We had a couple of nail pops and a small crack from settling within the first year but everything else has stood up well.

Signed agreement to have job complete 12/24, finished 12/29. Late several hours everyday, only late 10min one day. One day he came at 11 (8am sheduled start time) as he ordered a new refrigerator and was waiting for delivery, while our refrigerator was in our living room. Pictures will show grout color discrempany- which was done with 2 batches. It was obviously user error, but was told this was the manafacturers problem. The nail through cabinet face was the quality finishing work we received. He offered to come back and fix the grout (at our cost) but we declined and stained half the floor to match one of the colors ourselves. They work hard, but would not hire this company again- need to value clients time a bit more.

    Lacey Home Repairs
Steve was excellent to work with through the whole process, from the initial walk-through and quote to the completion of the work.  He made sure to explain what he saw, what he would recommend and why he came to that conclusion.  He was good about only recommending the repairs absolutely necessary and giving me general maintenance tips on how to get more useful life out of the wood he wasn't replacing for me.  He even pointed out helpful maintenance tips on stuff we weren't even specifically looking at.  He performed the work in less time than originally estimated (saving me money) even while making additional needed repairs not originally intended based on what he saw once he got into the project.  At the end of the day what seems to separate Steve from others I've hired in the past is his passion for the work and his desire to treat the project as if it were being done to his own house.  I would definitely hire Steve again and recommend him to my friends.

For one thing, I think they're just very down to earth. They're extremely professional. Everything they do is very well done. They cleaned up after themselves as well. They painted my entire garage which they didn't have to. They were really good in doing the repair. They put everything back where it is when they're done. They're very meticulous. They did a great job as if they're doing the work in their own home. I've just been really impressed. Everything is can-do attitude. No matter what I asked them, it was never like "huh, I don't know I we can do that or that can be a problem" nothing ever is. Whatever I ask them to do, they're very enthusiastic. Their sales staff and office people have been very good to me as well. They show up on time, when they say they're gonna be here, they're here. They're just very customer-oriented. If you have to leave a certain time, that's when they're here. It has been a pleasure working with the,. I think they're probably high, but no higher than any other handyman. I think for what they do, it's pretty reasonable price. They give price by the job. I'm sure a lot of times they probably lost money on me because the job required more time than what they probably anticipated. I don't think I would go anywhere else. They always came when they said they were. They were always here on time.

    Samsky's Home Services

I've been very pleased with his services.  He is friendly yet professional and very polite.  Friends and relatives who have seen his work at my home have asked who completed the jobs, and one friend consequently hired him to do work at her home and was pleased also.

Mr. Samsky had to come back to redo the Restore on front porch and walk because of damage by unexpected snow and hail we experienced on March 17th.  He came and spent entire Sunday (4/13) to make sure everything was done according to our agreements.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It turned out to be a lot more expensive than I thought it would be. The amount of work I needed required more people so I got the credit for the Big Deal, but I also had to pay for an additional person. They do a good job. They were clean, thorough, and billed me for whatever hours that they worked, and then they billed me more than that. It's just that you have to be careful of how much work you are going to give him.

    HCC Remodeling
The guys arrived very punctually at 9:00 am on a Saturday as previously scheduled.  They discussed the project with me and got right to work.  I only had a couple of 4' x 8' wood panels on hand and additional plywood sheets were needed to complete the job.  They calculated what was required for me to purchase very precisely, resulting in very little left over.  It took the two of them four hours to complete the job which worked out exactly to the eight hours of labor for which I paid.
The job overall turned out quite well.  I think they ended up hurrying a bit to finish the job in the allotted time as a couple of trim pieces were not nailed down completely.  If I had to nit pick, there were also a couple of gaps where the wood was not cut just right but not really anything to complain about.  The end result looks like wood paneling on all walls.  I later painted the paneling bright white and it it looks great.
The only real complaint is that one of the guys smoked while working inside the garage and the smell made its way into the house.  It seemed odd that he didn't even ask if it was okay to smoke, especially inside the garage.  I also found a couple of cigarette butts on the floor as I swept up later and this is the reason for the "C" in professionalism.  Otherwise, I would have given them an "A" in this category.

    Green Shield Construction Services
They completed the pressure washing first and the house looks great!
Most of the work on the wood trim turned out really well.  The problem came with the work that was to be completed around the front door.  Originally, Jeremy came to the house to survey the work to be completed.  When I showed him the rotting wood around the front door, he told me that they would cut out the first several inches of the wood touching the concrete stoop and replace it.  They would then caulk and paint everything.  When his team finished, they did not replace the rotten wood.  They simply filled in the rotten area with filler, then caulked and painted.  When I showed Jeremy what they did, he told me that the wood couldn't be replaced.  After he left, I looked at the estimate again.  It stated that the wood WOULD be replaced.  The cost to do the work on the front door (replace the wood, caulk and paint) was $250.  After I brought up the fact that the work was not completed as stated in the estimate to Green Shield, Jeremy then offered to replace the wood around the front door again.  I told him that I was no longer interested because he told me that it could AND could not be replaced.  So unsure what to believe, I asked to have the estimate adjusted to compensate for the work that was not completed.  Initially, Green Shield deducted $50 from the cost, which I felt was insufficient, given the amount of work to be performed.  After exchanging several emails with the Office Manager, Heather, she deducted another $37.50 from the cost, calling it a "discount".  A discount is what you get when you have a coupon.  So, to have the trim around the front door caulked and painted ended up costing me $162.50, which is excessive.  Out of frustration over exchanging emails with them over the period of several days, I just paid the bill.  Disappointing...
I'm also disappointed in Green Shield's communication skills.  I would send emails and wait days for a response.  After I brought up the issue with the front door, I was told to call them directly.  I did and waited three days for a response.  Not the way I would run a business.
I most likely will not use Green Shield again.

    Gem Orion LLC
We are so impressed with Gem Orion! We had actually contracted with another company to do this work, but they were dealing with injury, and after delaying the start, finally told us they couldn't complete the work and sent us a refund. This was a huge problem for us, as we were adding a bedroom to our basement and had guests arriving in about 5 weeks and REALLY needed to have this room done. We'd worked with Gem Orion in the past but weren't aware that they did carpentry work , so we called and asked if they could help us out. It was a lot of work in a compressed timeframe, so we weren't too optimistic. Gem Orion came out and gave us a very fair quote. They expressed some concern about the short turnaround and didn't make us any promises, but said they would get back to us and do the best they could to meet the deadline. Within a couple of days, they called back and said they would be able to get it done in time.
So on to the actual work - we needed two rooms created from unfinished space in the basement - one kids' play area, which required cutting a pass-through window into the rec room, and one bedroom with a closet. We also wanted a tile backsplash installed in the kitchen.
Gem Orion was fantastic throughout the whole process. They always show up exactly when indicated, and worked long hours in order to get this done in time. Their project management with respect to managing the order of the installation was great - everything arrived exactly when needed or was completed according to schedule. There was very little of the "we're waiting on the flooring to arrive" or "we're waiting to get the wiring inspected" delays that you sometimes see in other jobs - they just coordinated everything perfectly and rolled on through with the work. The quality of the work was outstanding - one of the key differentiators between Gem Orion and other contractors is that they're as excited about making improvements on your house as you are - they treat improvements as if they were occurring in their own household. The quality of the workmanship was outstanding - razor-sharp paint lines, screws in the drywall, very clean trim, and really nice floor and carpet installation.  The owner of the company often comes out and makes visits to check up on the quality of the work (not that this was needed), and we really enjoyed working with all of these guys - they're so nice and open about what they're doing.
It was tight to get all of this work finished, but I'm happy to say that one day before our guests arrived, everything was completed and looking beautiful, and all of evidence of their presence totally removed and everything was as neat and tidy as before they arrived.  I can't speak highly enough of this company - we will absolutely be working with them in the future on any home improvement projects we might have. So we hosted our first Christmas in our new house and were able to have everybody spend the night as planned - and we had a great time! Thank you, Gem Orion - you were really a lifesaver for us!

We consider ourselves very lucky to have Jimmy working on our house. We've run into more damage than we expected when we started this project. Plus when we decided we wanted to add a small front porch, Jimmy designed one for us and gave us an estimate the next day. He has worked cheerfully through rainy days, delays caused by the power company, surprises that kept getting uncovered as the work progressed and changes that we've made. He's discussed any problems he's run into and advised us of any additional cost. He came highly recommended to us by a friend of ours who was familiar with work he had done, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone else. The work is not finished yet but I can't imagine anything coming up that would change our opinion.
