Tire Buying And Repair reviews in Front Royal

Matthews has worked on my cars for over 7 years. They have never disappointed! Many of the cars my family members have had through the years have had over 100,000 miles and some over 175,000. Many times one of the cars had an issue, which we thought was big. Yet, time and time again, it is something simple and less than $100... They are the some of the most honest people you can find in auto repair. Look no further -- go to Matthews Auto..

    Tire Rack
Reviewed the different replacement tire types for my SUV over a period of a few weeks.  Checked retailers, dealers and shops to find price replacement tires.  Reviewed Tire Rack's site for a wealth of information on each brand of tire for my vehicle.  Read the reviews from customers and the test results for a number of tire brands for my vehicle.  Noticed that Tire Rack's prices were considerable lower then many retail outlets so for the first time, I ordered tires online.  Process was easy.  I had them drop shipped to a recommended shop in my area, that had good prices for mounting and balancing tires.  Within a couple of days the tires had arrived at the retail shop for mounting.   I made an appointment, went in and had the tires load balanced and mounted on my vehicle.  Was very happy with the experience.

It is a car dealership and it is where we have bought all of our cars for the last 15 years. The only problem we have had is with their service department. The wheels almost came off. My husband had bought the lifelong warranty thing so this service only cost about $12. The service department, every time we take the car in, we have more problems than we went in with. I say their service department is an F. We have had good deals on our cars and we have gotten what we wanted, even if we have had to order them, so I have had no problem there. I pay for services on my car because I don't have the package he does. They have been very responsive and very sorry, but they also have been very sorry and very responsive every single time. I feel like if they don't do the work right, it is not very professional.

I am really happy to have found some honest and reasonably priced mechanics. I had been having my car serviced by an auto dealership who never seemed to be able to really solve the problems and every time i went was a huge bill and more trouble later. I became very disatisifed with the dealership and felt they were stringing me along and not honest and waiting for LARGER problem to happen so they could do major work and charge me more rather than fixing a smaller problem that i brought to them.
My car was throwing some engine codes and needed a warranty repair, and the dealership did the warranty work (or said they examined it and didn't actually need to do anything). They said the engine code was a 'transient' problem like a loose gas cap and if it was still doing it 'next time you come in' they'd take a deeper look. So i assumed the car was fixed even though i'd had the engine light come on because the dealer told me not to worry. Then after i drove off the light was still coming on and within a couple weeks my car started spewing oil! So a serious problem that the dealership should have detected when i brought it in with an engine code, that could have wrecked my engine entirely if i hadn't noticed a thin stream of oil on the pavement when i started to back up the car one morning. So at this point i was furious at the dealership for telling me the engine code was 'no big deal'.
So i called Rick's instead of the dealership because i not longer trusted the dealership, and was very pleasantly surprised... they arranged to have my car towed, and I was fully convinced i would have a huge bill because i never left the dealership for less than $1000, and thought this might be a blown engine. But the total cost including towing was only $350! They found the problem, replaced oil sensor/switch, did an oil change/service and rotated my tires. And i've been driving with no more engine codes so they resolved a problem the dealership ignored. that could have cost me BIG money if i hadn't noticed the oil leak myself.
They were fast, efficient, and HONEST and didn't gouge or overcharge me and did a better job at diagnosis and repair than the dealership ever did which is a real pleasure and a pleasant surprise. I will definitely use them. They are busy, but honest as to whether they can get you in or not on a given day. I see aother customer complained in a review below about having to use a rental car during a repair, but i would honestly pay $50 for an extra day for a rental if they couldn't fix it in a day to save getting gouged $1000 at a dealership that didn't actually fix the car!

First they rushed to install these before the shop closed.  We thought the installation went okay, but while driving the car several days later a strut broke off.  The car was then taken to another shop where they installed a new strut.  I can't remember if NTB told us this, but we learned that the struts/shocks were installed incorrectly.  We are not mechanics and the car had a braking problem also, so we sold the car to the highest bidder, a mechanic who could see the terrible installation of the shocks/struts by Pep Boys.

    Costco Tire Ctr
They have good service, it was very quick and prompt. They had to work pretty hard to get these tires for us because they weren't made on a regular basis. It was not Costco's fault, but they kept us informed. We check with them and they checked with us, keep us informed as to when the tires should be coming in.
    Their customer service was excellent.

I have never worked with a more honest business and service provider and would recommend to anyone especially those with little to no auto repair knowledge.
