    Pagan, Dr. David R
I'm usually pretty good about doing my due diligence when it comes to using anyone for any work being performed on my family. Unfortunately, Dr. Pagan was recommended by my dentist as a second opinion to perform a root canal on my 17 year old daughter. The staff was was very friendly and I felt completely at ease with them. When I first met Dr. Pagan, I also thought he was nice...that is until the procedure started. My daughter let him know right away that she could still feel the pain on her tooth when touched. He didn't seem to believe her or even care about her concerns. He then numbed her a little bit more and put some contraption on the hurt tooth. My daughter let him know once again she could still feel the pain. He then started drilling her tooth and you could visually see she was clearly in pain. She was crying and attempting to make him stop. She cried throughout the entire procedure and whimpered and was shaking like a small child, unable to control herself. As a parent this is something you never want to experience, the idea of feeling hopeless, unable to make your child feel better. Since the worst was done as he had clearly already removed most of the root, I had to let him finish the procedure. Once the procedure was complete, I calmly asked the Dr. if it was common for people to feel a root canal. Instead of having a respectful conversation with me, he blew me off and told me he knew she didn't feel it. I then repeated my first common and told him I'm pretty sure she did, since this is my daughter and it's not like her to whimper, shake, and cry the way she did. He then once again just told me that he knew she didn't feel anything and stomped away upset, just like Eric D. said he did with him. I'm sure Dr. Pagan is a great dentist, however, he has terrible bed side manners and he needs to pay more attention to the patients he is serving. Last I checked, we are the ones paying him for a service, which he is doing a TERRIBLE job performing. I wouldn't recommend anyone who wants to NOT feel the procedure come here. I personally only went here since the other recommendation I had was further from my house, in hindsight, I should've driven the distance. Good luck to anyone else who comes to see this Dr. with ZERO empathy.

    Fredericksburg Regional Oral Surgery Center
    1.  Wife made an appointment for a same day consult and wisdom teeth extraction for 16 Year Old Daughter, who has fibromyalgia.
    2.  We pre-filled out all paper work and provided to Front Office Once we arrived, identifying all medications daughter was on.
    3.  We waited for almost hour an 15 minutes before being called back to a room, (They did do an xray during that time frame)
    4. Waited another 20 Minutes in room, before seeing Dr Brown.
    5. Dr. Brown spent 20 minutes explaining to my daughter what he was going to do, but  then said he wasn't able to perform the surgery because of the medicine my daughter is on.
    6.  My daughter stated she hadn't take the medication for at least 5 days, but the Dr. Did not believe her, and stated we would have to reschedule. (Note: Daughters Medication used to manage pain for fibromyalgia, is the same medication used for Drug Addicts, there was an insinuation that she was a drug addict, because we were told that we would have to take her home and lock up the medications to ensure she is not taking it.)
    7.  I asked the Dr. if this Medication was a show stopper, Why it could not of been identified much earlier in the process, because we had been at the office for almost 2 hours.
    8.  Left on bad terms with Dr. Office, because we told them we would seek out another Dr, because of our experience.
    9.  Received First Invoice, billing us for xray and oral exam (Dr. Never even looked in my Daughters Mouth).  Invoice stated nothing had been paid by insurance companies.  Called Insurance companies (We have (2)), and both companies stated they were never billed/invoiced.
    10.  Called Dr. Office, and was told the invoices had been rejected and we had to pay.  Lady was very rude and dismissive, but got her to agree to resubmit to insurance companies.
    11.  Received 2nd Invoice, stating the same, we owed money, and insurance paid 0.  Again called the insurance companies to verify, Primary Insurance Company was never billed, secondary insurance co was billed, but rejected it because Primary Insurance Co did not pay their share.
    12.  Called back to Dr. Office to explain, but they were closed for vacation (Extended period).
    13.  Was able to reach them on 12 Feb, As I was trying to explain that they needed to bill primary insurance co, lady was very rude and didn't want to listen or help, told me I would have to call back tomorrow.  I told her she could call me back.
    14.  Fed up with situation, decided to file complain with BBB, and noticed there were already (3) complaints filled for Billing related issues since Aug 2015.
    15.  Received  a call from Dr. Office around 17 Feb, from billing, stating she was following up with me, on my payment.  As i was trying to explain to her that she needed to bill the primary insurance co, she kept interrupting and over talking me.  She rudely asked me to stop talking so she could explain what was going on.  I gave her the courtesy to stop talking and listened to what she had to say.  Once she was finished I asked her to give me the same courtesy, and to stop talking and listen to my side of the story.  She refused and kept over talking me, even though I was almost screaming at her to please let me finish my sentence.  She continued to be rude and over talk me, so I stated she can deal with the BBB, I refuse to work with them and hung up.
    16.  Revived response from BBB (with Dr. Brown's rebuttal)  to my claim.  They admit that they had to change the incorrect billing for oral exam, but stated that they had submitted insurance company billing at it was invoiced.  They then stated I was rude, and they were professional...
    17.  I rejected the notice with BBB, and asked for them to submit proof that the insurance co actually rejected the invoices.
Note:  I have two very good insurance companies for Dental, and normally do not ever have to even pay a co-pay let alone 100% of a bill.
This is an on-going action, but I would never -ever recommend this place to my worst enemy...

    Stafford Dental Care
He's very good. They'll tell you it's going to hurt. They apologize for it. They tell you not to be afraid. They put you at ease. It's an intense process. They are very professional. I'd absolutely use him again. I'm trying to get my kids to come to him.

    Bailey, Dr. Ryan M.
Procedure went fine. Dr. Bailey made a follow up call and seemed irritated that I had asked him to call my husband instead bc he was the one attending to her at home. He said Dr. Bailey was very brief and practically cut him off when he was explaining her condition. She was very careful about her post surgery instructions so she healed very well. The worst part of this experience was not the ability of the doctor or any problems that my daughter had. It was the fact that we were quoted $412 using our Delta Dental insurance at the time of her consultation. Based on that we scheduled her surgery and my husband paid that amount in full the morning of her procedure. We were floored to receive a bill for nearly $450 a couple months after her last appointment. The office manager admitted that she made a mistake in looking up our insurance coverage and that she "misread the screen"! I explained that wasn't our fault and had she quoted me nearly $900 at the time of the consultation, we would have gone somewhere else! She insisted that we pay that balance and threatened that we would be turned over to collection agency if we didn't. This was completely HER mistake!!! Even our family dentist who referred us there made a call to resolve the matter and they didn't even compromise with a reduced amount. I received a payment book for 5 months of payments and felt sick every time I wrote that check. The office manager is so rude, I still can't believe they made us pay more than the original amount quoted and paid in full! Our dentist no longer refers people to this office....you need to consider the way they run this practice!!! Horrible!

    Pagan, Dr. David R
Went for an initial consultation and xray. Dr. Pagan explained the procedure and we scheduled for the following week. It turns out there was a cancellation on Friday morning and the office staff called us. She was in and out in 45 minutes and had no swelling and very little pain. The best news, it turned out that Dr. Pagan was able to save the tooth and her regular dentist only had to clean it out and put in a filling vice a crown.

    Allen & Tatem DDS PC
Both times, Dr. Tatem and her staff have been attentive and responsive. It was my three year old's first dental experience, and they were sensitive to that and helped to put her at ease. They were also great with my six year old daughter. I appreciated that they did not try and push any type of additional services (xrays, etc.) on my youngest, as she has not had two teeth grow in, but Dr. Tatem thought it a moot point until her adult teeth start to grow in. I personally agreed with this approach, but had we wanted to find out more, she was happy to go that route but her recommendation was to not worry about it at this point. She is also quite personable and helps make what can be an unpleasant experience almost pleasurable!

    Francis Rieman DDS
Dr. Rieman is an old school dentist that is thorough and attentive and I have been seeing him for 30 years.  He is very personable and doesn't get caught up in the latest fads regarding dental care, but sticks to the basics.  He has done several crowns for me and I have many fillings and he always takes care to let me know if he sees an issue even if I do not have a problem.  He has "worked me in" when I have had issues and never hesitates to refer me to others and I am always just as happy with those people as well.  He is personable and we talk about family, money matters like the stock market, and the beach!   My husband has also seen him for 30 years and is just as pleased.  Let's face it...no one really like to go to the dentist!   But I get reminder cards every 6 months, and I will see him until he retires and dread finding a dentist when he does!

    Virginia Dental & Anethesia
making the appointment was easy and quick. No long time spent on hold, and when I called I got to talk to a person, rather than an automated calling system. Got appointments quickly and they were able to accommodate my schedule while getting in three appointments. Two of the kids were seen by one hygenist, while the other was seen by a different one, at the same time. They were thorough and efficient. The doctor was prompt when doing the exam and explained exactly what would be needed at the next cleaning with regards to x-rays, etc. They sent out postcards one month prior to when we needed to return as a reminder. Just set up the 6 month appointment for the kids, and it was as effortless as the first time. It is so nice when, in a house with three children, something is easy ~! :)
