ASidney B. Allen Jr, Builder IncWe received several bids and selected Sidney B. Allen Builder because of their reputation and compatibility with builder. Builder has long-term relationships with the subs and manages them very well. The building work site was cleaned and straightened after each construction day. Whenever there was a change or a problem we were made aware immediately and it was handled effectively. The builder worked with us on possible cost over-runs and was fair in all of his dealings. Contrary to popular opinion we were able to stay within our budget almost to the dollar! Excellent work product - an enjoyable, solidly built retirement home!- Hylan H.

ARomano BuildersAfter we laid out the location and orientation of the structure, Mr. Romano proceeded to have the site excavated, formed and poured the footer. He then formed and poured the basement walls, 8 inch reinforced concrete. After that he poured the basement floor, and the floor between the basement and the main floor. Then he formed the walls (6 inch Reenforced concrete) for the upper level. The truses were put in place and the roof decked. The rest was basically finishing. During the whole project if he was not satisfied with the result, he did it over. The trim work was outstanding, the window installation is tight. We put in air to air heat exchangers because the house is so tight. You will not find a draft of outside air any where in the house. We have lived in the house for almost 7 years without any issue. If I could control it, I would never build a house without using Insulated Concrete Forms. I without hesitation recommend Mr. Romano for any residential construction task.- Fred U.

AS & H Construction CoThey did a great job. They are coming to do some more work for us as soon as they have the time. We are going to have them do the patio. They were very professional. They came back several times to check on the product because it kind of shattered so they replaced the whole nine yards without asking any questions. ARomano BuildersGreg returned my call immediately. He came by the next day, worked up an estimate. He then met me after my job was over for the day and we signed the contract. AJTF Renewable Design & BuildThis provider was professional, punctual, and easy to work with throughout the entire process. After receiving a quote that was a bit above our budget, we asked him how to get the cost down and he talked through different material options with us until we could find the one that worked for us. He treated the job holistically, fixing small issues he saw as he moved through, making sure to leave our roof as solid as he possibly could with this type of fix. He was easy to work with and made us feel like he actually cared more about helping us improve our home instead of just the money. AFor several years my husband and I disagreed on remodeling the master bath. One day I looked at the huge garden tub and the amount of space it consumed and decided he was right! I immediately went to Angie’s list and found Ascension Builders. I contacted the office and in no time, Matt Van Alstine returned my call. We talked about what I had in mind and he set up a time to come give us an estimate. He was very polite and considerate. He removed his shoes at the front door! We talked about options to open the small room. He sent us an estimate and my husband and I agreed it was quite reasonable. We also wanted the basement door and casing replaced and Matt said that would not be a problem. From the first day, I knew we had chosen the best company. Matt and his son did a lot of the work; and the subcontractors who work with Matt were great. Matt consulted us on each stage of the job and was very understanding when I had questions. One of the things I appreciated most was Matt’s attention to detail. My husband told Matt he would like to do the wood trim and the painting of the bathroom and Matt did not have a problem with that. Unfortunately, my husband encountered some health issues and when I told Matt, he did not even blink. He simply said no problem and did that part of the job also. Each day all the debris and dust were swept and removed. Matt made accommodations to suit our schedule and said “we are guests in your home” which meant a lot to me. It was, indeed, a pleasure work with Matt, his son and all the crew. I will not wait as long for the next renovation.

AI have not actually purchased anything from them but I wanted to write about their excellent customer service. I contacted Central Virginia Awning to inquire about replacing a 20 year old canvas cover on our motorized retractable awning (which had been installed by a company that has since gone out of business). He told be they are not suppliers of that specific type of awning cover, but took down my information, did some research about my brand of awning, called around to locate a dealer for me, then called me back with the name and phone number, telling me I should probably call the other dealer directly if I wanted to keep this under warranty. I am SO impressed with their helpful, unselfish attitude--truly went the extra mile--wish I could give them my business!

A... After studying their High Quality work on a friend's 2nd Story Sunroom and Dining Room... My Bride and I decided that we wanted this little company in Salem to build our Dream Room. Steve ( Southwest Sunroom Sales Manager ) was right on track; He reassured us that the Southwest Team could handle any contingency. And they did with Incredible Results ! Personable and friendly communication, and coordination, removed all the stress that comes with any challenging project - they actually made it fun. These are professional contractors and builders and a service team that deliver to Happy Customers. Some events: Pergula takedown, Deck removed, Fish pond moved and filled in, Electrical power updated to code, and power lead moved to other side of home... Then the really impressive Construction started on our 14x18-foot new "LIVING ROOM" There were No Inspection Issues, WOW. And believe me, the inspectors were here during All stages of the project (s), You get your money's worth plus = Southwest always builds safe, above, and beyond the code. i.e. you can literally drive a tank up on the subfloor and foundation. It Is BUILT ! I retired from the U.S Marines and have spent the last 26 years in Service and Installation work locally, and have been to "some" job sites and teamed up with lots of service people. What has impressed me most about the Southwest folks was how motivated and skilled the two guys that did most of the construction were... Troy and Key really excel in my book, and they obviously love the kind of challenging work they do. Come sun or rain , they were here early and motivated and ready with a plan to get 'er done. Communication and Status updates are very good top-down = Service Manager and VP (Kevin) Kept all of us in the loop informed... Even after the initial startup and walk around... to make sure each Builder, Contractor, and Customer is Happy and on the same sheet of music. Noteworthy: When the guys who are actually building your sunroom care enough to call and remind you "that if anything should go wrong this weekend [ because of an approaching tropical storm ] please just call us, we will be home all weekend." That is when you know Southwest has attracted some really Great Employees ! By the way, the new roof and guttering held back and dispersed an incredible amount of rain. The cleanup was always immaculate every day and at Completion = You almost can't tell they were even here and the Mud had been very high... Well, I lied just a little; There is this incredibly fine building attached to our little home. It is really more of a cathedral than a Sunroom ! AYou can't get any better. They have knowledge and great personnel. I had water coming into the basement after being repaired earlier by a different group. Flint redid the work because some pipes had been crushed when the first group backfilled the dirt. The moral of the story is to always get someone good.
