    1st Choice Appliance Repair
1st Choice correctly diagnosed the issue to be in the sealed system which would have involved a significantly higher cost and there is no guarantee that a fix could be made (if the leak were to be internal to the piping in the cabinet). I appreciated them being honest.

    Ed Hawkins Inc
I called Ed Hawkins on Tuesday and made an appointment.  (two days before Thanksgiving).
The next day (Wednesday) the technician came by checked out the ice maker.
When a few steps did not help, the technician went to the back of the frig.
He said it could be one of two valves.
Fortunately it was the valve he had in his truck.
He replaced the valve and the ice maker has been working great ever since.

Very good job! I wanted to have this done because I was concerned about whether it had ever been done in the 23 year history of this house and didn't want to risk a fire. Michael did a great job, explained to me what he had done, and also said that I probably didn't need to have it done again for another five years or so. Very professional and punctual.

    George's Appliance Sales
Called on a Wednesday and appointment was scheduled for following Friday. When I described the problem to the lady at George's she told me it sounded as though a fuse had gone bad and if that were the case it would be a simple fix. I was dreading the result. I really could not afford a new dishwasher. When the repairman arrived, it did not take him long to discover that the problem actually was the fuse. Within a short time the dishwasher was good to go. He was efficient, polite and professional. I would absolutely call George's again for appliance repair. So glad I chose them.

    1st Choice Appliance Repair
Michael fixed the dishwasher and disposal on his first trip, but had to order a new fan motor for the refrigerator. Came back about 10 days later and put the motor in. Very pleased with the service, he came exactly when he said he would, and everything works fine now. Price for the motor seemed a bit high, but Michael said they were pretty expensive.

    VAUGHAN & TIMBERLAKE APPLIANCE
We were expecting a big snowstorm Wednesday, so on Monday, I hauled out my old reliable snow blower and tried to start it. I had trouble getting it going, and then the starter rope broke. I had driven by Timberlake Appliance numerous times, but had never been there, so I drove out and asked if they could work on my snow blower. They said and quot;that's what we do!and quot; I never expected to get it back before the snow started, but they called me Tuesday afternoon and told me it was ready. They not only replaced the starter rope but put in a new spark plug and made sure it was running properly. All this for less than $55. They are listed as large appliance repair, but they also do small engine repair - lawn mowers, snow blowers, etc.

The service was excellent and delivery was the next day. The delivery went quickly and they took away my old washer. I've had no problems with the washer but then it has only been several months. Ask me about my Speed Queen in another 15 or 20 years. That will be the real test.
I have used Ed Hawkins for repair service since we moved to this area of Virginia back in 2006. We live in Forest now but use to live in Drakes Branch (Charlotte County) and they always showed up when they said they would. Their service was always reasonable and always done correctly. I called them a few years back when we had a problem with our LED TV to find out what brands they recommended. We went with his advice as TV's need to be able to be serviced and not all brands are easily serviced as we found out. Best Buy ended up replacing the bad TV with the TV brand recommended to us. Have never had a problem after 6 years.
They are not a big fancy repair service but they are dependable, fair and honest. They are a small family business that still practices what service used to mean.

The technician, Brook, came out to assess the problem my freezer was having and knew immediately it was the condenser fan motor....he checked the ship time and cost for getting the part, ordered and scheduled his next visit. While at my home, he noticed the refrigerator gasket was in bad shape (which I knew!) and recommended at some point that I consider replacing it. I decided I may as well while I was in the process of making repairs so he checked on the part, ordered and scheduled me for a return. While the fan motor installation went wonderfully, the gasket didn't want to correctly seal and required follow up visits, which Brook graciously made until everything was sealing and cooling properly. All done very professionally, when expected, and reasonably priced. I'll definitely call them again when I need appliance repair!

Excellect service. We called and the gentleman came over the next day to assess the problem. He ordered that part and three days later he came back and fixed it within twenty minutes. No fuss, no muss! He also took time to assess an problem refrigerator that was downstairs and came with the house and kindly told us that it was not repairable. No charge for the advice. Very nice experience.
