    Troy's Handyman and Home Repair
My experience with Troy's was not good and I am disappointed because I thought Angies' List only listed companies that were carefully investigated. Where do I begin? First, he told me he thought I was trying to fix my home up so I could have men over to satisfy my "womanly needs". This was the first big warning but I laughed it off because I thought it was just social stupidity on his part. Then he offered to go to the store with me to get supplies since I did not know what to get but never told me he was charging for that time. When we got back for some reason he did not "know' that the appliance he was installing required a certain hose yet he told me he had installed many of them and could easily do the job. He took forever to change a toilet piece that was supposed to stop the water from constantly running but when he left the toilet was still running and I've had to turn the water off to it anyway since he "fixed it" so that was a total waste of my money and time. He had fixed lattice on my deck which he did do well but what I did not realize until he left was that he left all of the old lattice and trash in my carport stacked up AND pieces had fallen in my yard that he did not pick up. I have had contractors do work and they ALL pick their trash up, they NEVER leave it for the homeowner to do so this was just pure laziness and sloppiness on his part. This guy is not someone I would ever hire again and I am sorry to hurt his reputation but everyone I told about this said I should let others know since that is supposed to be part of how this site works. At least your site is now free because I would be ****** if I had to pay to get a so called handy man of this low caliber from a site. I am sorry to hurt this guy's reputation but he just did a bad, bad job on my little bit of work and the inappropriate discussion was absolutely unacceptable not to mention totally nauseating. Update 5/20/2019: Mr. Troy, My goal of providing a review on here is not personal, it is a business site and I was providing my experience with your company. Your response does not help the bad experience I had with you and I'm not sure why you mentioned that you have "technicians" because you were the only one that showed up and you even said you don't have anyone else working for you. I am not the one trying to get business on this site so I do not need to defend myself but your mention of me talking about an ex and jail does not even make sense. My husband passed away and that is the only reason I was looking for a reliable handyman to do work on our home that he was no longer here to do. There also was absolutely no excuse for you making inappropriate comments to a customer especially someone that has lost their husband. The work you did on the drywall that fell and the lattice replacement was good but no contractor leaves the trash behind especially pieces that fell all over the grass, and if you were not going to take the trash you should have let me know. I also did not ask you to go to the store with me, I asked you to write down the toilet piece needed to fix it because I would not remember it and I asked that you write down the type of shower and sink faucets I needed to get. You clearly said you would be happy to go to the store with me but you never said you were charging for that time. This was an error on MY part but you should have mentioned that it was chargeable time. As I mentioned I have not had to use handymen before so I am not familiar with how things are charged. Good luck with your "company" and nothing personal, I was only giving my experience with the service I got. I have no reason to lie, I am just giving others my personal experience with your company, if they choose to use you that is their right but this site is based on confirmations that a contractor is one of many for a homeowner to choose.

Dwyane is amazing at troubleshooting root cause of issues and fixing it in most cost effective way. I have multiple rental properties and Dwayne has been always reliable, trustable and very reasonable in price. In one such example, he provided solution to basement water leak that saved me thousands of dollars. Whether it's a deck related problem or roof leak issue, he has become my go to contractor. Highly recommend!

    Steve Spratt Improvements
I knew I had a snow melt leak and I needed deck resurfacing, a new door, and siding repair to prepare my house for sale. I contracted with Spratt for these repairs. The Spratt team did a great job. Moreover, two weeks before closing bad storm (my neighborhood had 18 trees downed or seriously damaged) damage the siding on the other side of my house. I went back to Spratt and even though they were responding to community wide damage, they managed to get my siding fixed so that the sale could go forward as scheduled. I highly recommend Steve Spratt Improvements.

    Troy's Handyman and Home Repair
Excellent, I would have tried to do it myself as I am handy around the house but I thought this was beyond me as I've never did anything like it before. Was with him whole time and assisted which made it go faster. Knew exactly what to do & did it very efficiently, as he filled a bucket with mud from digging a deeper hole I emptied it, handed him screws etc..and he tested sump pump after lock down by filling up barrel with water. Just need one more bag with gravel which I'll put around it myself..

It was excellent! They were very prompt in getting back to me and provided me with a very reasonable estimate. They communicated with me at every step of the way. I am very pleased with the work that they did and would hire again.

He responded and came out to the house on the agreed upon day/time to review the scope of work but never provided an estimate. I spoke to him on the phone and he told me what needed to be done and said he would email an estimate. A week later I had not heard so I texted to ask for the quote - no response. I texted a couple days later to ask if I could still expect to receive a quote - no response. I find this type of business practice to be very unprofessional. Perhaps the job was too small or he was not interested in performing the work. This is fine by me but be honest and direct with the customer so I could have not wasted my time and called another company sooner.

Mr. Handyman of the Fredericksburg Region
Everything went wonderfully. 100% honesty here. I was a little frustrated in the beginning because it felt like jumping thru hoops just to get someone to come out and provide an estimate. However, with that said, I'm very glad we stuck with this company. The owner himself is the one that comes out and does the estimate. I'm not new to the construction industry, so I knew what needed to be done (being pregnant I didn't want to do it myself). The owner was extremely knowledgable and professional. We had, had two other companies come out to look at the same project and Mr. Handyman was by far the most qualified. He knew exactly what he was talking about, which was refreshing to hear. He was honest about the process and cost, he didn't seem to want to take us for all of our money, but wanted to do a quality job. The job took two days. The gentleman that came out was very professional and patient with my annoying barking dogs (thank you. I know they were annoying!) The storm door project was completed same day, and the French doors took a day and a half, but it all looks amazing. A very professional and competent company. They have reasonable prices. I would and will be hiring them again for other projects along with recommending them to anyone and everyone that needs a handyman. Pictures are attached. The only thing left to do is paint the French doors and the walls where the spackle is... Honestly, I'll probably hire them again to do that too!

    Casual Glenn's Handyman Services
Humourously. He was close to an hour and a half late to the initial appointment. I'm not a noob when it comes to home improvement, I've been involved in the industry for years, so I know what is supposed to happen when someone decides they want to add something to their house. This guy came in, and no joke, just measured the opening of the doorways and left. That's it. No real consultation. I knew the entryway for the French doors would need to be framed in, he didn't say anything about that, didn't measure anything for that. Just measured the opening and left. It was clear he didn't know what he was doing. We get the estimate back and the estimate was around $300.... The cost of the doors alone was over $300. Now I'm all about a good price, but this price is not a good price. This is a "I have no idea what I'm doing and you're going to end up with a sham of a job" price. So for him to be over an hour late to the appointment, not knowing what he was doing... The name of the business fits well. "Casual" indeed.

Mr. Handyman of the Fredericksburg Region
Overall; excellent. Final results and professionalism of workers weighs more heavily with me. The issues/concerns: 1. Work was initially scheduled for 5 June. The company had concerns about the weather due to the forecast. However, I didn't find this out until I called them when they didn't show up at the estimated time. We discussed the fact that they were watching the weather and would make a decision. This I understand. However, I was not notified about the delay nor the final decision to not show up. I didn't give a bad grade on punctuality as it was a responsiveness (communication) failure, to me, and less a punctuality factor. When the gentleman, I cannot remember his name, hereafter referred to as "the guy" or "he," showed up the following day, again not communicated to me that he would, it was early enough to get the job done in the same day. 2. When the work was completed, the guy left. He left the few items that were in the shed out. Left the shed open. Left the bagged debris and scrap wood in the yard, but stacked on the edge of the yard. Left a power cord. He didn't say anything before leaving. I put the items back in the shed, closed the door, wound up the cord (need to get this back to them) and got the bagged debris and scrap wood on to the driveway and out of the yard. I was planning to haul it up to the road on Wednesday afternoon; trash day. When I returned home on Wednesday, all the trash and scrap wood is gone. I can only assume that he came back and picked it all up. No one in my family did anything with it. 3. I was concerned about the hourly labor rate. Obviously not enough to not hire the company, but it seemed steep Bottom line though, it was much cheaper than getting a new shed. The good: 1. The work quality was great. All that I wanted done was completed. Most important factor. 2. The guy doing the work was very polite and friendly. These two factors alone determine whether or not I will work with a company again. The other stuff, although they were written with more detail, can be cleared up in any future efforts.
