    FAIRFAX ANIMAL HOSPITAL
Always goes well - we take our dog there because he is a nervous dog and the folks treat him well. When we take him to other boarding places, he will not eat and he comes home sick. We've taken our dog there for 8+ years now.

I don't use them anymore.  I'm not sure why they were using me for reference since that seems what they are doing.  I don't have any problems with them.  They are kind of a chain.

Dr Rosen and his staff have looked after 3 of my cats over a period of 6 years -- two had serious health issues.   I have always been 100% satisfied with the level of service and care provided by Dr Rosen and his staff.  I've never had a problem getting an appointment and he and his staff have been more than responsive to questions.   His services are not cheap, but to be honest I don't feel they are out of line with charges from other providers in the area.

Our kitty had a stomach bug that plagued her for the first year with soft stools and decreased appetite.  My last vet wasn't helpful at all and said that if her stool was even semi-solid there was no problem.  I'm a new cat mom and was worried about her, so when I went to FCAH they were able to do a full workup (approx. $500) and suggested I give her a course of metronidazole.  I have a good pet insurance policy so most of it was reimbursed.  They didn't try to sell me on anything that wasn't necessary and I felt like it was a real conversation and consultation with knowledgeable professionals.  She has gotten better since then and I feel so much more confident about her care going forward.  I will continue to use them as my kitty grows up.

They did good. They really couldn't find out where it was from. The treatment that they gave didn't work, but I think it was just allergic kind of thing, but I don't really know. I don't think it was their fault that they couldn't figure out what it was. They just live down the street from us and I went on Angie's List just to check that out. We just moved here about a year and a half ago so I looked on there to see if they would be good or not. I would recommend them. It was easy to get an appointment and it was really quick. Once we got the appointment, they were fast when we got in there. They pretty much had all the services that we could need there so it's a good place. The actual office visit was average as far as pricing. It was $200 for the steroid shot for the last visit.

He is currently taking care of our 10 month old pup, who had a trauma event to his tail from a bad groomer, which damaged nerves in his spine. Though the dog was scared, Doctor Hunter treated him soothingly, and put him at ease while determining the problem and the solution. I cannot speak highly enough about Doctor Hunter, who we feel has saved our pup, and kept two prior Chows healthy and thriving for long lives. Deepest thanks to Doctor Hunter!

    Nova Cat Clinic
We've been taking our cat to Nova Cat clinic since adopting her from a rescue organization.  We've always had excellent care.  The location is also very convenient.  The only minor issues are the price - a little high, although for medication they always give extra doses at no charge, and the fact that we've rarely seen the same vet twice.

    COLUMBIA PIKE ANIMAL HOSPITAL
Columbia Pike Animal Hospital is my vet. They are always expensive. They're fabulous vets. I really have to wait past my time. One thing that is good is they do any price matching for medicines like when you get your catalogs or any of your internet stuff, they will price match the meds that they supply there so that is very helpful, that part is excellent and I'm very happy with.

    Banfield Pet Hospital
We have been considering canceling our wellness plan for our dog and cat for some time now ($57 per month, $684 annual) because it seemed like everytime we went in for a checkup, Banfield would recommend another $100+ service. Also we never liked their process of boarding our pets all day for a wellness checkup. Our last visit was the final straw that led us to cancel our wellness plans. About a week after our dog's last checkup she started coughing constantly. We tried to make an appointment with Banfield yesterday to get her checked out, but Banfield said we would be charged a $75 and quot;emergency feeand quot; to be seen before 3:30 pm. Meanwhile our dog is coughing every minute or so and is miserable. Instead we took her to Columbia Pike Pet Hospital, which was much more professional. The diagnoses was kennel cough, which had to be contracted from her last visit to Banfield since that was her only interaction with other dogs in the last couple of weeks. I contacted Banfield's manager to let them know, and wanted them to help pay for some of the cost. I also told her that I wanted to cancel our wellness plan. She directed me to their corporate office. They canceled our plans, but after charging me an additional $144 since she said we have used over $600-worth of services for our dog this year (meanwhile, it was only 2 wellness checkups).
I would never use them again. Their wellness plan does not save you any money compared to other nearby vets (despite what your bill might say). They seem more interested in seeing as many pets as possible than the actual health of your pets. I am mad at myself for not canceling sooner.

    Pet Lovers Animal Hospital
Dr Chun did a dental cleaning on two of my cats. His very fair price included bloodwork, ear cleaning, anal gland expression, and nail clipping. He has state-of-the-art equipment and his surgical suite is immaculate. His staff is very competent and helpful and Dr. Chun is available by phone and email to answer questions. He is also knowledgeable about pet massage and acupuncture. I recommend him highly for pet dental procedures.
