    Northern Virginia Center For Arthritis
Dr. Nguyen is an excellent doctor and a wonderful human being. I started going to him because I found out he was seeing one of my students for free. He is extremely knowledgeable in his field and I would recommend him to anyone. I have been seeing him for 13years or more and I have been satisfied with his care. He has supported me in getting accommodations at work. He has been very much like a primary care doctor because my disease and the medications affect all aspects of my health.
However, some of his staff can be plain rude and rushed. And he is always running behind and rarely sees patients at their appointment time.

    Laukaitis, Dr. Joseph P.
He understands the problem, and he is very forthright in his opinion. He gives a very thorough exam and prognosis. It was very well run, they were very friendly. I was stuck in traffic, and it made me late, but they were so understanding.

    Gomez, Dr. Olivia C
The first few months, I saw Dr. Kivanc 3 or 4 times before he took off overseas. After that, the infusions were managed by Khoa, the IV tech, and a series of other doctors - the last being Olivia Gomez. The first few were okay, but Gomez was a nightmare. She didn't seem to have any clinical experience and a poor bedside manner. During my last visit, she refused to give me a treatment after I'd already been hooked up to the IV bag. Apparently, she first needed results for a blood test, which she never ordered! An argument ensued, resulting in me ripping the needle out of my arm and stalking out of the office. A few days later, I requested they return my unused medication ($8000 worth), since it was already paid for my me and my insurance company. They stalled me for several weeks, making various excuses and changing stories. Kivanc even called me from Turkey, but I never received the medication. I filed complaints with the Blue Cross fraud division and Virginia medical board against both Kivanc and Gomez. The medical board didn't pursue my complaints, no explanation given. They even renewed his license, even though he hadn't been in the US for over 2 years. However, Blue Cross was already running an investigation and I later learned that law enforcement authorities began one as well. Kivanc's office in Arlington closed down last year, but he and/or Gomez might pop up elsewhere. She is also licensed in California. Patients beware.

She is competent, thorough, caring, as well as an outside the box thinker. The office as a whole is efficient.
