Ted and Team did a great bathroom shower remodel for me. Originally, I hoped we'd be able to repair some of the tiles so I could have the tiles reglazed but that was a no-go because the shower walls weren't originally installed well. On short notice, Ted and Team were able to remodel the shower, replace ceiling vent fans in the both bathrooms, fix two leaking toilets, and a roof leak all in the span of a week. Ted and Team were very communicative, which I really appreciated. I wasn't local so they sent me pictures almost every day showing progress as well as a daily invoice so I could see where I was from a budgeting perspective. They also forwarded me emails of any materials purchased so I have the receipts in case of any warranty issues. I've used Ted and Team in the past, and I look forward to continuing to work with them in the future.

Not well. It started with arriving to do the job before stopping by to see what supplies would be needed. Then I went to lumber supply business to order doors. Thank goodness the doors/frame were picked up by handyman doing the installation. Doors were installed with space between doors. Eventually the problems were all fixed but only with personal guidance on what finished install should look like.

Outstanding job. Jose is punctual, responsive, conscientious, and smart. He is highly detail-oriented. He is very good at communicating so he makes sure he understands what you are looking for and then he executes it. His crew is also very good--polite and conscientious. Even when Jose is not on site he is always in contact with his guys. Any significant project will have unexpected things come up once the work starts, and Jose is great about addressing those kinds of issues. He is %110 honest and reliable. And the work he does is stunning---excellent cabinetry work, wood work, tile, and especially lighting. Jose had great ideas and is very cost-conscious. Really can't recommend him enough.

The work was completed quickly, in about 2 weeks. It was split into two main phases, 1) demo of the wall, building the railing, and repairing and painting the bedrooms and 2) refinishing the floors. We worked with Christopher to put together an estimate and some ideas for what to expect, because we weren't sure whether there was anything behind the wall to demo or what shape the floors were in under the carpet. He also suggested some new doors to replace the one that opened the "wrong" way. We ended up using the screen door he recommended and finding our own off the shelf HD door, because of our time constraints for the front door and didn't want to wait 4-6 weeks for a custom order. Christopher and Jesus did the majority of the work and they were very good about keeping the dust down by putting up plastic and protecting our hardwood floors. They cleaned up every day, including vacuuming. The wall ended up not being load bearing and only having electrical (light switch) we already knew about. Christopher realized that we needed to move our other switches that could not be behind the front door once we flipped it, so they moved it all to one electrical box on the correct side of the door. I worked with a Christopher to find a good post and railing, because I didn't like the typical round posts, and wanted squared ones. They also came up with a solution to make the railing work with our old plasterboard walls, which were uneven by 3/4-inch or so. They ended up using some trim to blend in railing to the wall. With refinishing the steps we ran into a bit of a problem. We knew we needed two new steps, because they had been cut to fit around the old door frame. Unfortunately, two other steps were damaged due to age and had to be replaced, which was an additional cost (we were aware of the possibility). The steps were made of heart pine, which would be a custom order, if they could find it. Christopher suggested a few options, which was to use pine step replacements that would have a slightly different grain or cap the old treads with oak (much more expensive). We were staining a dark color, so we decided to go with a different grain of pine, and it looks good. You can see a difference, but it blended in well enough that people didn't notice until we pointed it out. They stayed late and came on the weekend, with our permission, to make sure the floor guys could come the next Monday. We didn't want to delay either, so we thought that was great. Christopher even brought in a painting crew at his cost to get things done quicker. They replaced 4 lift fixtures as well, one which wasn't really part of the contact, but they did it anyway. I think the floor guys were technically subcontractors. The floor guys worked quickly and were able to make a custom match to our existing floor where the door was removed and a new piece of wood was needed. The rest of the floors were an existing stain, but close enough that the difference isn't noticeable between the levels of our house. We stayed for the sanding and stain, but moved out for 2 nights when they put down polyurethane. It was strong, but not as bad as expected, even though I was pregnant. The floors look great. Once that was done, Christopher came to do the walk through for touch ups and Jesus stayed to do the last bits of work. We'd definitely consider them again for future work. Christopher and Jesus were both prompt, friendly, and had workers. Christopher responded quickly when we had questions and usually gave us options when we weren't sure about what to do. I talked with Christopher about some other work we were considering and he had some ideas that we liked. We're waiting on those until the baby is a little older.

    Virginia Home Remodel LLC
First and foremost, we are extremely pleased with the quality of work performed by VA Home Remodel. We had quite a bit of structural work done, including digging up and re-pouring portions of the slab, new subflooring, removing a fireplace and chimney, and moving walls, and they performed all of this work skillfully. The electrical and plumbing tradesmen were exceptionally competent, and the drywall, cabinet installation, tiling, etc. in the kitchen and bathroom is all extremely nice. We had a notion, but modest expectations, for a built-in-ish bookcase and desk, and the finished product is far nicer than we anticipated. Dave is genuinely honest, a quality that is tough to discern in an industry where consumers are rightly wary of being overcharged or receiving substandard work. I solicited four bids and Dave was the only contractor unwilling to dismiss the floor being warped in one place as insignificant, until hed had a chance to remove it and inspect closer. As it turned out, the slab needed re-pouring in some areas - a significant expense - and while the other contractors may have ultimately recommended the same solution, they all assured me it wasnt a big deal at the outset most likely to secure my business. We generally did not ask for or need much guidance in terms of design, and they were happy to accommodate whatever we wanted. There were of course some hiccups along the way (minor delays, miscommunication) as there are always going to be, but I implicitly trusted Dave and his team, and recommend VA Home Remodel without reservation.

Disappointing and over-priced. PRICE The job cost nearly twice the estimate. There were no changes to the original plan and no materials upgrade. BILLING PRACTICES Billing is out of control. Inexplicable charges for random materials appeared on the bill. The bill was sent several times with "corrections" and each time new errors crept in adding more to the cost. Materials were not itemized. By comparing each invoice to previous versions I noticed that materials from another job had cropped up on one of my invoiceswhich was quickly charged to my card before the project had been approved. I was charged for nearly an entire day spent waiting for materials to be delivered. JWHI did partially resolve those excessive charges with a credit but they buried the original stray materials charge error in the bill. Lastly, I was charged to have the carpenter return to fix dripping along the attached side. It leaves me wondering how much I was cheated. WORKMANSHIP An excessive number of rafters were used but not enough cribbing. 3 months later the panels are now bowing and need additional support.

I have a bit of an issue with them. The sent an estimate over and they put me on the schedule and then when they were supposed to arrive, they didn't show up. So I had to call and they told me the estimator had been fired. And they worked on it and they sent someone fine. It was just not pleasant to take the day off to wait for somebody to show up. I wasn't happy with how they got started. They did not show up on time so I had to reschedule

The space needed a lot of work and the landlord did not want to help with the build out so we were really worried about costs.  Rebecca had a very practical approach when dealing with us.  She simply asked us "what's your budget?"  And she worked with us!  We needed to fix the ceiling, new floors, painting in the interior and exterior, reframing of windows, new tile floors and so much more that I can't even think of it all.  So overall she did a great job and her crew was very clean.  But as a business man the thing I liked the most was how she was able to work with the budget we had.  She went around and found supplies that were within our range.  That made things more affordable.  We were also on a time crunch and she was able to get the job done in about 6-8 weeks.  After the build out, we called her whenever we needed work done around the office and she would come through for us then as well.  I couldn't recommend a better contractor than Rebecca.  You'll definitely get good value for your money when you work with her !

Art and Frame of Falls Church
During a move, the glass on a framed piece of embroidery was totally smashed.   I had another framed embroidered piece that was beginning to fade so I also took it in to see what could be done.   I don't remember the name of the lady who helped me but she was great.   She helped me choose the correct kind of glass to protect the material, and worked closely with me to choose new matting for the fading piece to give it a general facelift, and to figure out new matting and framing for the piece where the glass was smashed.  I hadn't intended to replace the frame on the first piece, but am glad she talked me into it (it wasn't that hard), because it highlights the beauty of my artwork much better.   The final result was excellent; the work was done on time; and the price was fair.   Highly recommend!
