Mudjacking reviews in Falls Church

I was very pleased with the whole process of working with A-1 Concrete Leveling. I contacted several companies about the work (and received many different assessments, prices, proposals on how to solve my issues) before making my selection, but I made the right choice with this company. I was not able to meet Mark when he came by to check out my driveway and walkway, initially, which is something I usually like to do with new contractors. But, Mark came when he said he would and left an estimate, drawing and details for me to review. I then corresponded with him by email several times to ask follow-up questions, to which he efficiently replied with more information. I felt comfortable knowing what to expect and also that I needed to be mindful of upcoming freezing temperatures during which the work could not be performed. When I finally made my decision in late November and informed Mark, he promptly added me to the schedule. On the day of the work, two crew members showed up during the timeframe I was promised and began prepping things. I discussed the scope of work with one crew member. Communication was easy and I felt listened to. Shortly thereafter, Mark arrived on-site and he went over things with me. He was very professional and personable. He stayed at the job for the next couple of hours while the concrete was lifted. The crew finished after he left and also within the timeframe quoted. When I saw the results, I was extremely pleased. It met my expectations and they had solved our problems. Our walkway tripping hazard was no more. The sunken gap between our driveway and house/garage was gone. I would recommend this company to anyone who needs similar work done as they deliver high quality results, good customer service and are responsive.

Very well. It turns out that the issue was with something else and that jacking the slab wasn't the solution. Kirk advised against using his services and referred me to another tradesman to adress some cosmetic issues. I love that he didn't try to sell me a service I didn't need.

    McLean Home Improvement LLC
First and foremost, Mr. Lester Garcia is a man you will want to do engage in business.  He is professional, courteous, honest, prompt and talented.  That's a lot to say about someone but I am forever grateful that I found Mr. Garcia on Angie's List.  He is the type of individual you want to have as a general contractor.  An engineer by training, he knows what he is doing both by training and experience.
The work started as a quote to determine whether he could do the work that I required and how much time and cost would be involved.  Mr. Garcia worked with me to determine the best approach to do the work and the approximate timeframe for doing the work.  We discuss options for materials and the approach he would be taking for doing the work.  Pricing on the bid was for quality materials.  His crew, which he directly supervised and in some cases, he actually did the work, were polite and respectful of my person and property.  They cleaned up every evening and put in a full days work to complete the projects.  As of now, I have two beautifully completed bathrooms and a converted garage that is better than some luxury suites I've stayed in.   The the kitchen is gutted and ready for build out.  The quality of work and the design results are exactly what I had hoped for and I could not be happier.  This is no small feat given that I have a 60 year old home that has more than its share of issues, all of which Mr. Garcia was able to deal with and solve in the most appropriate fashion.
I am so pleased with the work that Mr. Garcia's McLean Home Improvements has done that I have contracted for additional work to be done.  This includes building a sun room and the building of a custom shed.  There may be additional projects in future, and I will be contacting Mr. Garcia's McLean Home Improvement first.

    1 Element LLC
1 Element is an attempt by Charles "Chad" Black to re-invent himself and "launder" his company (formerly operating as Virginia Gardens & Hardscapes (VGH) and a more recent name change and fail as Schwartz Industries. They won our business with a low quote, professional act, & pictures (their website & binder shown to us) of magnificent work (not likely theirs) completed on grand estates. The son (front man) played nice/professional until I signed the contract & paid half up front. After that, it was a nightmare. They claimed the project would be done in abt. 1 month but 5 months later, it wasn’t (never was). Random workers haphazardly appeared on site with little/no supervision & no necessary permits were acquired. All work needs to be torn out & redone. Independent engineers/county inspectors agree it’s the worst they’ve seen. These guys are concrete pourers masquerading as a professional landscaping company (regardless of the tale on the website). Month 1 of our project ended with little progress & then they announced a name change to Schwartz Industries. Concerning b/c: a) our contract & supposed lifetime warranty on the work was with VGH, b) why use Schwartz if real name is Black? Clearly an attempt to “launder” the old name due to # of prior upset clients/poor work. We had to chase after them for months for legal docs to prove our contract & warranty would stay valid. Polite inquires about project details, timelines, etc were met with hostile, un-businesslike response (bullying tantrum) from Charles Jr./Chad stating that we did not have the right to ask questions. This treatment evolved into hot-cold-hot-cold, game playing. The father took over as POC to attempt damage control but things did not improve. Son contacted us to admit he had forgotten a small, critical retaining wall in his design but demanded $1,200+ to correct it. When we protested, he used terror tactics and threatened to remove all workers/equipment & leave the huge mess until he felt like returning & at an even steeper financial penalty. We threw them half the money to get work moving again but this just reinforced their belief we were suckers and the games continued. Instead of proper patio top flagstone cheap, thin veneer stone (normally used for walls/indoor applications) was very sloppily layed (with huge, inconsistent spacing) further ignoring our requests & clear instructions provided early on. Repeated pleas for the spacing to at least be corrected, shakedown #2 came – tried to charge us a huge amt. to pull up & correct all the stonework they did wrong. We protested and they just moved forward, setting them permanently in concrete weather we liked it or not (but not even done right-all loose) Finally, sloppy (not to code) set of steps made of cheap, warped, knotty wood slapped onto the deck, refused to meet to walkthrough the project & they just showed up very early one morning, demanded final payment while standing on the still unfinished front steps. I refused to pay until an engineer evaluated the work. We had to contact the police a couple weeks later when they were found trespassing. Pretended to leave when asked to but not trusting them, I doubled back in my car to find their truck backed into driveway with the crew headed into my back yard. When police car pulled up they hurried back to truck and fled. BEWARE! Chad is operating under the new company: 1 element or element -

Very responsive and prompt response to our inquiry call and was out in a timely manner to give us an estimate for the work to be done. Mark was very upfront with what could and could not be accomplished with mud jacking vs. complete replacement. His evaluation and estimates were thorough and he gave us a detailed explanation of the mud jacking process, etc. Initially there were some delays in completing the job due to equipment delays and bad winter weather delays (cannot inject the material in freezing temps); however, Mark and his team were extremely professional, apologetic and polite in dealing with the situation. All work was completed to our satisfaction (VERY satisfied) and quality was good as well. He did an excellent job with clean-up at the end of each work day and was very responsive, prompt and courteous in regard to calls, questions, etc.

They did a great job and gave me a great price because they were already in the neighborhood (I gave you an estimate of what I believe is their reasonable normal pricing). They were efficient and friendly. The only complaint I have is that the places where they filled the cracks, re-cracked soon afterwards, but I believe this might be due to issues beyond what they are able to fix. The rest of the project looks fine, and the walkway is even, which is the most important thing so that no one trips!
