Transmission Service reviews in Fairfax

    County Transmissions Inc.
They are very good. They let us know it was not a transmission problem and referred us to a mechanic to fix it. They actually drove my car around the corner to another mechanic and that person fixed it. They were really good. They are honest, reliable and quick on assessment. For price I will give them an A. There was no charge for the evaluation but the estimate was cheaper than the dealership.

My car was repaired properly and I truly appreciate the honesty and open Ness that I received from the folks at County . If I should ever need transmission work on my vehicle I will certainly use County transmissions

Tim the owner, Bob and team are a pleasure to work with. They are experts and are honest! We could tell this from the get-go, but after 10 years you REALLY know. They explain what needs to be done and why, if it's something beyond routine maintenance. Prices are totally reasonable. After taking our cars to Automotive for years it feels like a nice small-town relationship, which is refreshing in the hustle-bustle of NoVa. We are moving out of state, 40 miles away, but plan to return to Automotive for our car care whenever possible. Thanks guys!

OJ was so awesome to work with. He promptly called me with a detailed estimate for repairs on my Honda Accord Hybrid and even made sure to tell me which items should be repaired and which items I didn't need to fix right away or at all. I have been to auto places all over Northern VA for over 10 years and I have never had such a pleasant experience having my car serviced. My car felt brand new when I drove off the lot. I have already recommended the shop to several of my friends and will be taking all of my vehicles to Fairfax Auto Repair in the future.

I highly recommend County Transmissions.  I had major issues with the transmission in my 1978 Lincoln Continental Town Car.  I submitted an appointment request via Angie's List and received a phone call the next day.  I was able to take it in to be diagnosed and needed to have the transmission rebuilt.  They had the car back to me within 5 days, and she is running like new.  I have driven it for a few months and took it on a long road trip.  I am glad I found this place!

Excellent. My car is running better than before. We've been going to them since we bought the car. They have always been very good on their service. Very good, very prompt. Usually the car is not in there more than a day. On top of that, they wash and vacuum the car before giving it back, which is really nice.

I called in the morning to see if they could get me in for a brake job that day and they said yes, when I got there I asked if they had time could they take care of the 100k service and a few items I wanted to check and replace if needed if they had time.   They said they would call me with an estimate on the brakes and offer some options on the other services I requested.  They called me 30 minutes after dropping it off saying the brakes still had 40% left.  The whole reason I thought it needed brakes was the dealership had told me in January during an oil change that they needed replacing, the serpentine belt needed replacing, and so on.  I skipped doing the brakes and did all items on the 100k mi service and looked at some other wear items.  In the end I did the required service at 100k, transmission, transfer case, front and rear differential fluid flushes and change.  The list of things I had concerns about and like to replace just due to age, they inspected and did not recommend replacing at this time.  I have always gotten my service done at the dealership for all my cars, this experience along with the reviews here that led me to contact them in the first place changed that.

Big rip off place..please don't go here. One day my car did not start and I called AAA. The tow truck came from Advanced automotive, chantilly and sold me that I should get the car towed to Advanced automotive as it's not only the best but cheapest in the area.Next day I got the call from them telling me that all my engine mounts have gone and ripped off a electrical wire and gave me a estimate of $1281 (parts and repair).I shopped around and other ( 3 of them) repair shops quoted me $800-900 for the same job. When I called Advanced back and told me low quote from others they said they are expensive and same as Honda dealership but do a very good job. After the repair was done next day the light on the dashboard lit up, which was not before repair. I called them back and they told me that my transmission is gone and will cost $4500 to replace it. I wanted to take a second opinion and went to Fairfax Honda. They quickly diagnosed it and told me one of the gear box switch needs to be replaced and gave me a quote of $230 including diagnostics. They also fixed couple of recall items for free within an hour for which advanced had quoted me 3 hour labor.

There was some transmission work that needed to be done.  They were very quick to call if they came across something that we needed to be aware of.  They never did work that we did not approve and always explained everything that we did approve even after the work was done.

This was the first time I had to replace a transmission on any vehicle that I've owned.  I could have saved money going through a private mechanic but without a warranty that was not an option.  County Transmissions had a long track record and positive reviews on Angie's List. It seemed to be that only a handful of shops in the NOVA area specialize in this kind of work and are reported to be reliable.  The price was in line with other quotes .  I could have gone with a private mechanic saving hundreds but there was no warranty on the work, whereas with County Transmissions, I got a 3/36 warranty which made sense.  Hampton was professional and delivered the car when he said he would.   I've had the Odyssey for a couple weeks now and have had no problems and I am satisfied with the experience.  A competitor advised that they would swap out all the electrical components related to the transmission (solenoid, etc.) for approx $200 more but Hampton advised that was done on a case by case basis so I went with his opinion.   Hampton and his team also replaced one engine mount on the Odyssey and only charged for the parts since the engine had to be moved in the process (or at least that is how I understood it).  It was an easy transaction in the office and they had everything ready when I showed up for the pickup which also shows there level of organization.  I would recommend this shop if you need a transmission.
