Skylight Installation reviews in Fairfax

I was impressed with the detail of the inspection of the roof and attic before an estimate was given. They actually went up on the roof which mattered because some underlayment had to be replaced. There was a problem with the size of my skylights, which they were eager to work through. I had a continuing leak, which turned out to be from the siding installation and some missed caulking ( a different company) which they found for me and fixed anyway. I am very please with the end product!

Schaefer Burdett Exteriors provided a reasonable estimate for some damage caused to my roof from wind. After my insurance counter offered, they examined the insurance estimate and provided some feedback where my insurance estimator had missed several requirements. They delivered materials on time and showed up to complete the work in a day. They did have to return for clean-up the following day which was fantastic. They even came early as snow was pending and they didn't want to leave any materials on the ground for an extended period of time. I highly recommend their services and would absolutely work with them in the future. No photos as my roof is currently under 10" of snow.

RIBA construction was recommended by one of my neighbors. I initially started with them by replacing my old cedar shake roof with new architectural asphalt shingle (32 squares) with three new skylights. From the very start, the sales and contract process with Ryan was open and honest. They genuinely wanted to get the right roof solution versus just making another sale. The communication through the process from the back-office with Jerry and Yolanda was also superb. The roof and skylights were ultimately installed and the RIBA Construction diligently followed through until all work was completed. As a result of this great experience, shortly thereafter I selected RIBA Construction to complete a number of other projects (all completed concurrently with diligent coordination): - Windows and Sliding Doors --> replaced forty (40) old wood windows with new vinyl casement windows - Siding --> replaced (20 squares) of engineered wood with new vinyl siding - Capping --> All windows, doors, and trim capped with aluminum and vinyl soffit vents - Gutters --> installed 300+ feet of new gutters and downspouts While no project goes perfectly, everyone at RIBA Construction really cares about doing the right thing and made everything the way it should be without hesitation. In the end, the exterior of my home has been completely renovated and I now have a virtually maintenance-free exterior. I'm very happy with the appearance and functionality as well as the value of all services. If you are looking for a company you can trust to provide an honest assessment, strong communication, and skilled installers, RIBA Construction is a great option. I highly recommend and will certainly hire them again for future projects.

Carlos was great to work with, he was professional and responsive. Our roof is very big so it took a few days but they were there on time and working hard every day. His team did a great job on the roof and cleaned up nicely afterwards.

The job was done in one day and the new roof is beautiful!! Len Panek was the project lead and made it so easy for me. The crew was very talented and very neat. First rain is due this week, I am not worried! I highly recommend this company. (My skylight was also replaced w/ a new one.) Thanks, AHC.

Very satisfied with service. Never felt pressured by the estimator. He listened to what I wanted done and provided me an itemized quote for the work. Crew was courteous, professional, and worked hard for almost 12 hours to get the job done in one day. The curb for my skylight had to be replaced, which was not part of the original quote, but I was not charged extra for the additional work.

Started with a great promise but ended with poor work in terms of overall workmanship. There are many things now I look back was not done properly: 1. No 3-D computerized version of how the room will actually look like because you are Shown architectural drawing which as a laymen has no idea and also doesn't show how it will actually look. 2. Not listening to client because what we asked for cathedral ceiling was not on d awing and only realized once they started installing roof realized and had to stop and ask them to do the so called cathedral ceiling and looks ok. 3. We had told them very first time we wanted double door for entry but planned for single door and later asked them to change, so guess what increased the cost. 4. Excavation was done and with understanding that pipes will not be damaged and now we found out that drainage pipes were damage to we have to fix at additional cost through landscaping company. Also damaged our existing pflagstone patios with the heavy equipment and will cost us more to fix those things. 5. Also removed sensor light in he back from the wall and not installed afterward and may be threw out, so we have to fix that also. 6. In our sunroom did not fix the siding which again we have to get it fixed. 7. Grading is the biggest issue I have with this company because, all they did was clean the backyard and put the dirt where they were gaps around the foundation and they call this as a grading. Very poor workmanship. 8. Cost was outrageous and did not justify the amount of work and can always blame customer but I didn't mind paying if the work was done properly. 9. Also contract has all the breakdown for things like for bathroom and closet accessories but the price allotted outrageously low where it's impossible to find in those prices so you land up spending more for those. They alloyed most of the cost for their work and not on quality. 10. Also needed to remind them at the end for every small things because they forget. Overall, I would not recommend them to my friends or relatives for any work now I have to pay extra to fix the problems they created.

They did a good job, they did more than necessary. I wanted my skylight done. They were fine, I helped them out and made sure everything was done. This people that did the windows had some young girls there and they directed them. They did fine job, they were okay.

I would have preferred to have guys up on the roof, because the reason I pay the extra money, I wanted to be safe. I wanted them to be bonded and they were bonded.  They were fine and they did what I needed. They were there on time and cleaned up after themselves.

We have five skylights on the house that were shoddily installed long before before we bought in 2008. Leak, caulk, fix drywall, paint, and repeat every few years.  Even though the roof was about 18 years old, we decided to replace everything to have a fresh start and not have a mix of old and new shingles that would result if we just replaced  the skylights.
We received quotes from four A rated companies on Angies, and were pretty amazed at the range in prices from $13K to close to $18K. The materials (skylights, roofing, gutters) all appeared to be the same, so I have to assume that the key differential is the labor cost and/or profit margin.
From a quality and responsiveness perspective, everything went well. When I nitpicked a few items, they cheerily said "no problem" and took care of them.  I waited a few rainstorms to write this review, no leaks!!! So we are pretty happy. Looking forward to completing the drywall repair from previous leaks and then not having to worry about it for many years to come.
One lesson learned - clear the leaves and other yard debris from around the house before a roofer starts the job. The reason why is that while they do a magnet sweep for nails, etc, inevitably some items are missed among the piles of leaves. This one is on me.
I would certainly use Augustine again - but I hope not to be calling any roofer for at least 20+ years!

The EcoStar representative, John, was very friendly and knowledgeable, and walked me through every single thing I needed to know about my roof remodel--helping me to select the right shingle option and explaining what to expect on the day of the remodel.

As soon as I notified John that I had received an approval for the job from my HOA, EcoStar scheduled my remodel for the following week.

The crew arrived at 7:30am sharp the morning scheduled, and the materials were delivered shortly thereafter. All of the workers were very professional and worked ceaselessly until the job was completed around 4pm. They did a beautiful job quite efficiently with a minimum of noise and fuss. When they left, my property looked as if no one had been there and my roof looks great! They left my yard as clean as can be! I am very happy with the job EcoStar did in every respect.

Included in the price of this job, EcoStar will be sending an independent Building Inspector who will be coming by in a couple of weeks to look at the roof, and I will receive a full report!

I would not hesitate to recommend EcoStar for roof shingle replacement.
