Insulation reviews in Fairfax

    Northern Virginia Insulators
The guys arrived on time, and had everything done within a day. It was crazy hot work up there in the attic, I don't know how they did it. Clean-up afterwards was very thorough, both inside and outside the house. I feel like we made a good investment, and were steered towards a quality product. Both crew members were pleasant and easy to discuss the process with.

    Home Energy Medics
We proactively sought out a home energy audit for our townhouse because we were having comfort issues in our bedrooms during the summers and winters. One bedroom was very warm in the summer and very cold in the winter. We were fairly confident we lacked adequate insulation, but we would only know for sure through a energy audit. After conducting extensive research, we landed on Home Energy Medics based on their positive reviews and professional certifications. We contacted Vicki, who is great, to set up the appointment, which was fairly painless. Bradley and David, our techs, preformed the audit and they were thorough and explained what they were doing every step of the way. After the audit, Bradley and David returned with the final assessment and an action plan based on priority. They did a great job of explaining in laymans terms where our townhouse lacked adequate insulation and how to remedy the issue based on actual data and thermal imagery collected during the audit. After our consultation, we collectively determined the best way forward to improve our home's comfort and efficiency was with the action plan provided. We did run into a couple of hiccups when finalizing our action plan (terms in the contract were not always consistent ie, finish vs paint ceiling) and scheduling our work, but in the end it all worked out. Once the action plan and schedule were finalized, Scott and Dion came out to double check the action plan and give us a better understanding of the breadth and scope of the work. While doing the walk through, Scott recommended additional work based on his extensive knowledge and training, which cost more than we expected but ended up being the right call. Once the work started, Scott and Dion stopped by on a regular basis to ensure the work was being completed on time and up to their high standards. Their crew of subcontractors were professional, courteous, clean, and did a great job. Once the work was completed, Scott and Dion did one final audit to gauge the improvement - insulation improved by ~300% and our air leakage improved by 22%! Additionally, we were in the midst of a string of hot days and noticed an immediate comfort improvement throughout the entire house. The entire experience with HEM was as pleasant as a home renovation can be, with a few minor bumps along the way, but in the end we were very happy with the work and would recommend them for your home energy solutions!!

    Orion Home Improvements LLC
Outstanding work! Brian explained everything in detail and answered all of our questions. The work crew arrived on schedule and performed the work in an outstanding manner. They were thorough, knowledgeable, and totally professional. We were absolutely stunned at the degree to which they cleaned up after the work was completed. They left absolutely no sign that any work had been done--I mean that in a very complimentary manner. I will definitely use Orion again!

    Comfenergy, LLC
Our energy consultant, Matt Pascual, gave us a clear explanation of the work Comfenergy would do, but he was also accommodating to the few changes we requested. He followed up by giving us his cell phone number and the two times we called him, he answered immediately and attentively addressed our questions. His professionalism influenced our selection of Comfenergy over the other 3 companies that also came out to our house to explain and estimate the job. We were given a work start date and our work crew, headed by Ruben Samper, was there promptly on that date and promptly each of the following days. Ruben was trustworthy, easy to work with, and very responsive to any concerns that we had. He seemed to have an excellent working relationship with his crew and they all worked cleanly and efficiently. The whole job was completed in 4 days.

Outstanding work! Brad (owner) is exceptionally knowledgeable and knows his trade. His team did a superb job which included: 1) removing the original fiberglass R19 batting 2) identifying and sealing all airleaks 3) inspecting and ensuring all HVAC duct work was sealed 4) installing insulating covers on recessed lighting fixtures 5) installing new soffit baffle trays to ensure good air-circulation from the soffit vents to the underside of the roof-deck 6) blowing in new insulation to an R49 value. Crew was professional, polite - highly recommend NVI.

Brad and his assistant Irwin were prompt, courteous, professional and worked non-stop until the job was completed. They added insulation to rim joists along walls in my basement, used foam board insulation between the joists and then spray foam sealant. The entire ceiling was then insulated and a protective cover of batting was applied. They moved items in the storage area, cleaned up any loose materials and placed my items back along the walls. I never felt like someone was trying to over sell me on any work. Brad broke down the cost, as I requested, because I was initially only requesting he do the joists. What he proposed doing to the ceiling made sense to us and his cost was reasonable.

    Moss Building & Design
It's no wonder they have so many reviews--clear evidence that they're doing something right. They are communicative in every sense--responsive, clear, professional, detailed, honest. They definitely break the stereotypes of unreliable and/or dishonest contractors. I felt fairly treated from beginning to end. Plan to hire their services again.

DreamHome completed a job to install a radiaflect barrier in our townhome attic, and it all went smoothly. The crew arrived within the service window they provided, inspected the ceiling before and after the job, worked efficiently, and provided snapshots of their work for me to review. From sales to payment, all in all a smooth and transparent process!

    Quality Insulation
In January of this year, I had another company come and take out the old insulation and install the blown-in insulation. However, they botched up the job and we found ourselves constantly vacuuming the insulation that was coming down through all the recess lights. They hadnt bothered to seal them correctly. They also created so much mess removing the old insulation; so we had to move to the basement while cleaning up the main floor from the messy job they did. Thats when Dan was called in to remove the blown in kind and install the blue jeans insulation. Dan suggested the blue jeans batts, knowing my chemical sensitivity. I hadnt known such insulation existed and am grateful he did to minimize exposure to chemical. I was very impressed from the moment I saw the crew wearing a suit that was clearly designed to protect them. Dans crew discovered that the other insulation company had not properly removed all the old insulation company, and Dan could have charged me more for the extra removal work, but he stuck with the quoted price and did an amazing job. He made sure I would not be affected by the removal of the old blown-in insulation(have asthma). This time no dust was created while removing the blown-in insulation. I cant say enough about Dan and his crew. I am so grateful to him and his crew. Dan is honest, professional, empathetic, and is meticulous about getting job done right. I would most highly recommend him to anyone for any type of insulation work.

Keith Richards spent six hours in my home performing the free energy audit. He was very thorough and provided explanations for all the work that was required, provided photos to demonstrate what needed to be done in the attic and showed me samples. Anthony Matus and Eduardo Flores completed the work in two days on days that I selected. The two of them were professional and courteous, and they had a good sense of humor. Anthony, the crew leader, described in detail what they had done, showed me photos, and answered my questions. At my request, they insulated a soft pipe and secured it to prevent its banging against the wall, thereby ending the noise I had heard for 20 years in my attic when the wind blew. They did a great clean up job as well. I plan to request both of them for Phase II of the work--jobst work in the rear of my home on the first floor.
