Newly constructed homes should also be inspected prior to closing and in the 11th month of the first year before the warranty expires. KEY Inspector, a local, family owned company, has the experience and qualifications you need. Kevin Yarbough with KEY Inspector is licensed to perform general residential home inspections, and is New Residential Structures (NRS) certified by the state of Virginia. KEN DEIS INSPECTION SERVICES
Business Description: EXPERIENCE. KNOWLEDGE. INTEGRITY. FULL TIME. LICENCED AND INSURED: these are the backbone of my success as a home inspector in Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia. Over the years, my 6000 plus clients have looked to me to help them make informed decisions on one of the most important purchases of their life - their home. As a home builder for 10 years and a Home Inspector for the past 18, I know houses inside and out. I work for you, not the Realtor, providing you with an honest assessment of the condition of your prospective home. The typical home inspection takes about 2-1/2 hours. You’ll follow me through the inspection and learn about the age and condition of all systems including the electrical, plumbing, windows, roof, attic and more. In addition, I’ll inspect for mold, termites, vermin and roof and basement water issues. I’ll cover everything from top to bottom with information on how to maintain your home inside and out. At the conclusion of the inspection I’ll summarize the good and not so good items as well as providing a detailed report with photographs within 24 hours of the inspection

FADT FairfaxADT has been doing basic alarm service for us for years. It is fair and provides adequate value. I came to them to ask about security cameras and a DVR. They: - Took out a solid system, insisting it needed replacement, which it didn't. - Incorrectly described the new solution and capability - expressed internal confusion about who came over to my house and what they did and what they should have done, - did not show up for agreed appointment and were confused about it - agreed to remediate in a timely manner and did not - did not return my calls or texts Finally, I escalated to ADT staff that were not involved in the original sale and they professionally responded and have stripped out the "bad" solution. I believe they will reimburse me; we will see. This set of ADT were unlike the salesperson and their manager; they understood customer service and followed through. Because of this bad experience, I am not using ADT for external cameras and DVR. I was tempted to get rid of them completely but, as I said, I am fairly happy with my basic alarm service, and the "new" ADT players I contacted were professional.- Kim M.

FU.S. Inspect GroupU.S. Inspect Group is the new name of U.S. Inspect Inc. Having financial troubles in 2018, U.S. Inspect continued to hire home inspectors across the United States. The interesting part is that they decided not to pay any of the inspectors they contracted. This continued this way for many months until adding the word "Group" to their name in 2019. They now continue to operate with the same employees, at the same location, with the same business model; but without the pesky need to pay all the inspectors they swindled. U.S. Group is one of the most unethical companies I have ever encountered.- Tim S.

ATHE BUILDING INSPECTOR OF AMERICAVimal has now inspected 3 homes for us. He is top notch. Besides having the years of experience he has certifications and degrees in engineering and architecture. Vimal is always on time, professional, and patient. He explains everything he finds and whether or not it is something that should be fixed now or later and why. He has treated my husband and I like his children - truly caring about the homes "health" and ensuring we understood the good and bad that came with each property. Vimal looks EVERYWHERE in the home. I was so impressed at the recent property how much time he spent outside looking at the roof, grading, and structural components. He looked under decks and he even moved big plant pots inside the home to make sure nothing was being hidden on floors. He crawled into attics and crawl spaces and looked in every corner. He is very thorough. Further, we had an environmental specialist at the home the same time Vimal was in the house. Vimal was very courteous to him and respectful - sharing space and information. Vimal even offered to read this report when it was provided to provide a second opinion since he too does Air Quality evaluations. He helped me work through the next steps and options and never made me feel like a bother. I HIGHLY recommend him!- Vasili K.

AAlcova Home InspectionsMy husband and I are first time home buyers and are moving from an apartment that requires no maintenance to a property with a pool, pond, and acreage. We wanted to make sure that the person conducting our home inspection would really explain everything to us. We are so thankful that our realtor found Thomas! He took his time and answered every single question we asked of which we asked many. He even gave us tips on our pond and was able to identify the snake that left behind its skin in our basement (and the hole in which it entered!). Thomas was amazing, incredibly thorough, and knowledgeable. Highly, highly recommend to anyone buying a house -- especially first time home buyers.- Emily M.

AInspective Home Inspection ServicesNote, as of 6/27/2018: - This company has an active license with the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC ID: S2996918) - JAMES JOSEPH FUNKHOUSER is a "Licensed Home Inspector" licensed by the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (License Number: 3380000333). Initial Certification Date: 2007-05-18 and Expiration Date: 2019-05-31 I have had two wonderful experiences using Inspective Home Inspection Services. The first was as the seller of a condominium ... I was on the "receiving end" of an inspection conducted by James Funkhouser. I have seen many inspection reports throughout my life and was astounded by the detail of what he found and reported. I have not seen such a great inspection ever. No wonder he is so popular with selling real estate agents. That was in the summer of 2016. Now, in the summer of 2018, we are considering the sale of our home and wanted to get ahead of the game and decided to contract our own inspection so that we might resolve the issues long before putting the house on the market. Who else would I call, now, as a seller, but the same inspector that did such a great job for the person who bought the condo we sold. We were, again, impressed by what he found. The detail of his report and all that led up to it were astounding. If we were buying a home, we simply wouldn't want to do it without James Funkhouser and Inspective Home Inspection Services.- susan c.

AHOMEAuthority LLCWe were on a tight timeline and looking for someone with good reviews who could meet us quickly. Jim answered the phone himself, and was very flexible with time. During the inspection he explained everything thoroughly, and suggested possible fixes. He was pleasant and friendly and respectful of the sellers' home. The report is organized with photos, descriptions and suggestions and will be a great resource to improve our home over time. I would absolutely call Jim next time I need a home inspection, and would recommend him to friends and family.- Dixon D.

AAccurate Home InspectionsFred is very knowledgeable with 25+ years experience. Showed up early to the inspection (and the pre-drywall inspection) and was extremely thorough. The ultimate professional, but cultivates a playful exuberance that simply demonstrates he loves what he does. Highly recommend.- Adam S.

AAffordable Pest LLCI spoke with David Fields and scheduled a treatment. His guy were there on time. They were very friendly and professional. AViewpoint Pest Management LLCI was impressed by Jerome's professionalism; his knowledge of pest treatment as well as his as his customer service skills are off the chart. I dealt with another pest control company for 25 years and felt like I was just a number. When I decided to switch companies, I called Jerome to do my annual termite inspection. I was impressed that he found no evidence of active termites; I worried that a new company might "find" termites just to make money. Jerome did say that even though there were no active termites that preventive treatment is recommended every 5 years. The cost he quoted was in line with quotes I had from other companies. I had done research about termite treatment and could tell he really knew his business. I decided to switch my quarterly pest contract to Jerome as well. The previous company treated pests when found; Jerome concentrates on prevention and closed all the gaps in the house to prevent entry from outside. He loves his work.- Robin L.

AConnor's Termite & Pest ControlConnors came and did an inspection, recommended services, and was able to trap the mouse! They were thorough in the inspection but didnt recommend a lot of services. Said my house was sound, no holes to patch, just laying down traps in the attic would be sufficient to start with. And sure enough, we caught the one mouse and I havent noticed any other signs of other critters since!- Nina D.
