    We had SA Home Improvement build a detached 24 x 24 garage and we are very pleased with how it turned out... Working with Seddik and his crew was a pleasure from beginning to end. I interviewed 14 contractors and decided to go with SA Home Improvement because they thought of details that should have been included in the bids from the other contractors (retaining wall, moving huge amount of dirt for the location and paving to name a few) and it was obvious they offered quality workmanship (concrete slab as opposed to a competitor's cinder block walls on their bid). The SA Home Improvement architect did a great job designing the new garage to our specs (it needed to look just like our current garage and tie in with our house) and it was a pleasure to work with them on the plans. I've had friends say "it looks like it's always been here" which is the utmost compliment since that is what we were going for in our design. Seddik and his crew worked in a timely manner while building the garage with integrity and quality. This is my first "build" project (I have done other bathroom and kitchen renovations with other companies and wish I had known about SA Home Improvement) so I needed to be educated on every step of the way as to what was happening each day. Seddik and his crew answered all of my questions and never made me feel bad or silly...Seddik had so much patience with each of my questions. The crew cleaned up the project mess every day and I was very impressed how hard the construction team worked every was obvious they really cared about doing a quality job. I highly reccomend SA Home Improvement for a custom build or renovation. I hope to have them back within the year for a bathroom project. These folks are top notch and I am grateful for a stress free garage build that turned out amazing. My husband and I are very happy with SA Home Improvement and are grateful we chose them for our garage build.

    Chad came by the house and promised to deliver a new garage within 8 weeks. He required 50% down, under contract to start drawing and to buy materials. After we resisted a bit, we asked if we could give him 25% down before the drawings and another 25% after...he obliged. We wrote him two checks for around $18,000 a piece (one before drawings and one after) and ever since then it has been nothing but excuses and radio silence. We wrote him the first check back in June. It is now almost October and he hasn't done a thing. we are convinced he is a con man and are having to press criminal and civil charges with Fairfax county. Chad Jones is a liar and a thief and if anyone is reading this you should never trust him.

    Uwe worked with us to design our dream kitchen. His extensive knowledge of home remodeling and cabinet making allowed for a custom solution at a comparable cost to Lowe's or Home Depot but with the features I wanted and no filler. Uwe worked with us on design, walked us through the inspection process, demolished the old kitchen, facilitated coordination with a gas contractor, stone mason, and flooring installer, provided a trusted electrician and plumber, and using appliances, fixtures, etc. that we provided, gave us a beautiful new kitchen.
    Specific tasks accomplished included:

    They were excellent. I am sixty-two years old and I have had numerous services in the past but they stood out the most to me, in terms of their integrity, quality, service, honesty, and professionalism. That was the third major remodeling we have had in the twenty-seven years that we have been in the house and I would give Charles R Wood Builders Inc a special recommendation for the work they did. They are outstanding. That is the best company we have ever dealt with in the home remodeling industry in twenty-seven years of home ownership. They have outstanding customer relations. I really can't say enough about them. In home remodeling, one first gets a sales presentation and the work crew turns out to be completely different from the sales people. Many times there would be language problems which is how the construction industry is in our country because most of the workers are not native Americans, so if there are any problems during the construction, you are not going to able to convey that to the people actually doing the work. However, with Charles R Wood Builders Inc, that is not the case, they have people who have been in the trade for generations and have passed down craftsmanship to generations. The other thing about them was their invoices came in on time and so we always knew what we were spending and what everything cost. The wonderful thing they did, that never happened to me before with the other three other remodeling companies, is that they gave me a refund. They actually gave me a refund, which has never happened before! I have also had horror experiences with construction companies before, so with Charles R Wood Builders Inc, I can say that there are certain things that the homeowners will get that they are not going to get anywhere else, like if there is a discrepancy or if they get overpaid, you will get a refund. The level of craftsmanship is such that when our house was rebuilt, people from the industry have come into my home and have asked, who did the drywall, because it was so straight, or have commented, whoever built the house did excellent job. You will not find a company like them very often; they truly stand by their mission to provide quality home to average people. When the pipe broke, the plumber had torn up everything in our basement and I knew I could depend on Charles R Wood Builders Inc once again. They sent out somebody right away, they did the drywall, and it looks as though nothing ever happened there. A couple of gentleman came, they worked for two days and got everything done and the cleanup was spotless, which is just the way they do things. They really know what they are doing. If I have any construction concerns or if I need work done in my house, I would only call them; in fact, I have them on my speed dial!

    It went well.  I am still amazed at the quality of work and craftsmanship.  John's crew is outstanding, courteous, creative, and highly motivated...they take a great deal of pride in their work.
    The available space for the structure was extremely tight (access was limited) requiring lots of coordination with the concrete pump truck and crane for lifting in the steel ridge beam.
    Perhaps the biggest asset for Cooper and Company is Mr Cooper's knowledge of Fairfax County's permitting process.  He is well respected and often more knowledgeable than the inspectors; he hold valid licenses for several trades qualifying him to inspect/approve work that the county accepts.
    I highly recommend Cooper and Company for anyone seeking quality construction and a conscientious effort to complete a difficult project.

    They use the best quality material. The balcony is gorgeous. We told them exactly what we wanted and they did just what we asked. They cleaned up afterwards as well. The year before they put in a long patio and put in ceramic floors in the kitchen. They suggested what types of materials to use. The patio was expensive work because they had to make sure it drained away from the house and they had to work around the windows that were open to the crawl space. They had to close that off and make vents so air was available for the crawl space. They brought in a huge truck that had an extender so they could put the cement in the back area without having to drive the trucks in to the back. We like the balcony very much. They are expensive but they do quality work and they got the job done when they said they would. They are honest and thorough and they were here at 7:00 every morning. When you think of all the things they did correct, I feel they are worth the cost. The owner was out every morning to make sure things were running smoothly. Everyone knew what they were doing.

    Here is a true horror story. Not only did the contractor rip us off for $4,000, he bragged about getting away with it by filing for bankruptcy! Three years later he still hasn't refunded our money. Homeowner beware!!!! This contractor thumbs his nose at accepted (ethical) business practices. Mike Caso, the owner of The Fairfax Handyman & Improvements (now possibly called ?Caso Construction?), owes us $4,438 as a result of remodeling work his company performed in our home from January 2009 to November 2009. Mr. Caso has verbally admitted that he overcharged us in three ways: (1) multiple charges for the same task; (2) projects we paid for but then decided not to go forward with; and (3) materials that Mr. Caso was supposed to purchase but that we eventually paid for out-of-pocket.
    While Mr. Caso does not dispute the fact that he owes us money, he has simply refused to pay it.
    In early January 2009 we had some recessed lights installed in our living room, dining room, family room, and kitchen. One of the electricians suggested that the related drywall work could be handled by Mr. Caso's company. Mr. Caso's workers did a satisfactory job and we hired them to do some additional work. While our project started modestly with interior painting and a few minor repairs, it quickly grew to a substantial renovation job.  My husband and I had wanted to do such projects for years and we thought this might be a good time. As the work progressed, Mr. Caso would provided a running tab of related costs in the form of an invoice, and we provided him a check on the spot for the full amount.
    The main members on Mr. Caso's crew were professional and courteous but we had problems with Mr. Caso's choice of materials. First, he purchased a very expensive dishwasher after promising me that he could find us a very good deal. Second, the staircase he chose to have installed was unsafe. Within a month of the installatiion some of the styles came off. At Mr. Caso's direction, they had been just tacked in. Normally staircase styles sit into dowels so that the bond is secure. These didn't have dowels. We paid Mr. Caso about $6,000 for the staircase but in return we got cheap materials and an installation which must be some sort of code violation. There was yet another red flag. During our remodeling Mr. Caso's repeatedly complained about a previous customer who had not paid his bill and had set him back financially. As it turned out, our money was making up for the shortfall.
    In hindsight, it should have been no suprise to us that in mid-April, with approximately 80% of the work completed and 100% of the payments made, Mr. Caso announced to us that he had cash flow problems and would not be able to complete our job without additional money. He promised that he would refund us any overpayments at the conclusion of the job. Since the quality of the work had been satisfactory and our working relationship had been amicable up to this point, we agreed to this arrangement.
    Nevertheless, troubled by Mr. Caso's disclosure of financial difficulty, we reviewed our invoices from him. We were shocked and disheartened to find several instances of overcharging running into the thousands of dollars. In May, when we confronted him with the discrepancies, Mr. Caso volunteered to pay us $500 a month. We asked him to sign an Installment Note attesting to this arrangement. He signed the note but refused to allow us to have it notarized. From that day until January 2010, the last time we heard from Mr. Caso, he has only given us a few checks for $250.
    As our project neared completion in October, we asked Mr. Caso to meet with us to discuss his debt and how he planned to pay for it. He arrived at our home 90 minutes late without calling to explain why. He blamed us for his financial mismanagement by accusing us of giving him too much work.  He boasted that he would file for bankruptcy to avoid paying us, and said the Installment Note he had signed in May 2009 "doesn't mean anything? since it had not been notarized.  Finally he declared that he had not, and would not, respond to our e-mails or telephone messages because, in his view, they were ?negative? in tone.  Actually, all our communications were very respectful, some complimenting him on his work.  We even donated a portion of our unused wood laminate flooring to his business.
    Our last communication from Mr.Caso was a $200 check received on January 21, 2010. We have not heard from him since. He has refused to answer our e-mails and telephone calls.    In March 2010 we stopped trying to contact him.  We have vebally reported the matter to the Virginai Dept. of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) anad are following up with a written report.

    I am pleased to have a public forum to share a review of the work done, by PDO Construction, on our Bethany Beach, Delaware cottage. We started a renovation with the thought of removing one small wall and ended up with a new kitchen, new floors, new doors and windows, new roof, new HVAC system, new fireplace, new deck and more.   PDO Construction made all of these things happen.  Owner Phil Oneschuk is knowledgeable, thorough, authoritative, flexible, artistic and respected by his crew and fellow craftsmen and tradesmen.  He has in depth engineering knowledge of building, construction, renovation and of local and state building codes, and is interested in educating his clients so that they can make the best decisions, with a variety of options, ranging in price and scope. Phil kept us routinely updated via phone, email and with a photo gallery of pictures that documented the progress of our project, as our main residence is several hours away and out of state.  We had no concerns with trusting him with our home and he was also flexible when our schedule allowed being onsite. PDO Construction offers personal attention to the homeowner and to their project that larger companies do not. Phil has a vested interest in helping to preserve the homes in the DelMarVa area as he himself has lived locally for most of his life and is raising his family there. We are very pleased with the entire project and continued support that PDO Construction gives us.

    He arrived on time and promptly informed us that he preferred to work on a referral  basis rather than new customers.  He then requested information about our income, the number of people in our family, and inquired as to our reasons for adding an addition.  It was at that point when we explained we would be evaluating other proposals that he pressed us about our process.  Left after stating that he likes to work for repeats and friends of friends.  We did not fit his criteria, nor he ours.

    It went very well from start to finish. We knew what we wanted and Lensis accomplished it: an addition that would look like part of the original house and an enlarged partly covered deck. It is impossible to differentiate between the exteriors of the original house (11 years old) and the addition. The interior finishes were also matched or coordinated to achieve a uniform look. The project progressed in a timely manner, even though we made some changes along the way, all of which were accommodated willingly and well. It was a pleasure to deal with all of the employees who performed their work in an expert and professional manner. Although it can be disruptive to live in a house that is "under construction", Lensis did the work with minimal disruption and left the work area neat and clean at the end of each work day. We could not have been more pleased with the job.
