    B & B Floor Co
The original estimate was for three days but it turned into four days because of a scheduling error. However, the net result was superb. When the stair-step installers discovered that the new tread and riser were not the correct size, the supervisor came out quickly and corrected the situation by scheduling his master carpenter to rebuild the step the next morning. Watching that craftsman work with just a few tools, a sharp eye for detail, and patient skill, was a true learning experience. The new step is a work of art and the new hickory flooring is beautiful. The room is now much brighter with the updated hardwood floor. We first chose B&B to replace the foyer, hall, and breakfast room with the same hickory flooring--it looked so good that we decided to replace the old carpet in the family room which enlivened the first floor to the current style. We will use them again for another upcoming project. B&B was referred to us by a carpenter we know well. JAH

The execution and quality of the work was excellent and we could not be more pleased with our new living space! The entire WM Team are a collection of professionals who listened to our dream and helped us formulate a vision to execute on ---- giving us options and choices throughout the process. Greg and Drew Marks were extremely helpful from day one through the completion date, their management of our 2 month project was very smooth. We must give a big "shout-out" to Armando, who lead the on-sight construction team --- not only is he a consummate professional craftsman, he was a true joy to work with -- he was never satisfied until each part of our project was perfect!

    Naulas Hardwood Floor
Fantastic job. Each and every requirement was met by Naula's technicians. They removed kitchen tile and dovetailed in oak flooring to our adjacent family room. They repaired existing prefinished flooring surfaces, repaired damaged transition areas and applied stain to the new areas that matched the existing color perfectly. Their attention to detail was fantastic - real quality workmanship.

    Flooring America - Fairfax
We went to FA Design and Build. Talked to the sales person and took home a couple of samples. When I returned the samples I asked for an estimate. I was told we would get a call to schedule the estimate. After a couple of days I had to call the office get an estimate scheduled. An estimator came at the appointed time. He said it would take a couple of days to get back to us. FA Design and Build has the installer (subcontractor?) do the estimates. When we did not get the estimate after 2 days we stopped by and talked to the salesman at FA Design and Build. It was Saturday so he said we would get the estimate by COB Monday. Its now Wednesday and no estimate. I guess these folks are too busy to respond in the timeframes THEY give.

My home needed some major home improvements to get certain areas up to todays standards. The owner of the company, Reynolds Grimes went through our home and made recommendations for needed upgrades/updates. He provided a fair and reasonable quote and more importantly was able to meet our self-imposed deadlines. I had contractors coming and going each day and was kept informed by Reynolds every step of the way. Reynolds grew up in this area and knows it very well. Hes owned his company for over 34 years. So, if you are looking for a General Contractor that can remodel your home from top to bottom in the Northern Virginia area, Contemporary Remodeling is the company to use. Lakewood Home Builders Inc
We ran into a snag at the beginning with the county permit. Lakewood worked at length with an engineering firm and the county to find a viable solution. The extra work they did to find the solution which satisfied both the county requirements and our budget is an excellent example of their willingness to put in whatever time and effort is necessary to satisfy their customers. The rest of the project went well. Lance was our project lead for the Lakewood team, and he came out to the house almost every day to let us know what was going on and to meet with the subcontractors to make sure they were on the right track. Along the way we decided to make several changes to our design. Lance always supported our desires and provided good communication with everything that was going on. As with any job, the dust is a constant. Lakewood worked to minimize it as much as possible. Lance ensured that the subcontractors cleaned up every day. He even brought in a cleaning team to provide thorough, deep cleaning twice during the three months the interior of our house was under construction. The other members of Lakewood supported us as well. Tim managed the windows and siding while John worked with us on the cabinetry and the financial efforts for the additional work we asked for. We truly enjoyed working with each of them. They consistently responded promptly to all our emails and texts. They each proved to be professional, courteous, and very interested in doing an excellent job. We are excited with the results in every room of our home, from the kitchen, to the master bath, the laundry room, and our new walk in closets. Our new home is a pleasure for us to be in. We highly recommend Lakewood Home Builders, Inc. without reservation!

    D&S Floor Covering Inc
The owner personally came to our home and walked through the area to measure and show us the examples. Once we picked the flooring he quickly provided an estimate. The work team let us know exactly when they would begin work and arrived right on time. The flooring and carpet removal as well as laying the new hardwood was completed in one day. The sanding and refinishing took two days for the final coat of finish and sanding. They did a good job of keeping the dust contained and cleaning up after the job. The crew was polite and courteous and eager to make right any errors or adjustments we requested. We will be going back for any future flooring needs.

    Clawes Carpets Inc
Clawes did a great job.  I visited the store and got great info on options/prices; they were very friendly and let me take home a whole stack of samples.  Bobby Clawes came by and did the estimate.  Crew came in and did the job (not too big, but complex with the stairs and hallways). Crew was very fast, and dealt with my request to match floor level with tile easily and with no questions.  Great job, and I would be happy to work with them again.

    The Model Home Look

    Scope of project

Our 4 bedoom, 3.5 bath home in South Run Oaks subdivision was built in 1986.  It was greatly in need of a complete 1st floor remodel?all floors, walls, entire kitchen, the ½ bath, etc.

We got multiple remodeling quotes from home remodeling contractors recommended on Houzz, Angies List and from neighbors and friends.  I found Mike on Angies List.  I checked Mike?s credentials, checked his license, checked with his references, and called the Better Business Bureau.  I then compared bids from about five contractors and asked them to be specific about materials and dates for the entire remodel.

We chose Mike as our home remodeling contractor based on his experience and friendliness.  He competed for our job and came to our home multiple times with quotes and CAD renderings on his laptop..  We also visited his showroom.

    Timeliness and cost

Mike and his crews did work on time and on budget.  The 1st floor remodel cost us exactly what Mike estimated.  Plus Mike threw in upgraded kitchen cabinets and upgraded wood floors at no additional cost to us.

    Design  and build contract

Mike obtained all necessary permits and recommended many low-cost improvements to us that we never thought of.

Mike tested and went over the remodeling at completion of the project to ensure everything is working properly and we were happy with all improvements.

    Final evaluation

The remodel Mike did is exquisite to say the least.  Our neighborhood realtor Marion Gordon come in to see the remodel when it was done and she was totally blown away with the quality of materials and the design--- Mike gave us the open concept living room-kitchen-dining room look by knocking out walls and giving the feeling of a huge living space..

Now we will enjoy improved comfort, beautiful living space, reduced maintenance and energy savings for the life of our home.

    Retention and future work

We would recommend Mike to everyone getting any remodeling?kitchen or bath or anything.  We plan on remodeling our upstairs floor bedrooms and 2 baths next year and will use Mike.

    Diana Construction LLC
I interviewed 4 contractors before choosing Diana Construction to do my kitchen and dining room renovation.?They were cost competitive and the major reason I choose them was that Peter (owner) not only has the expertise and employees/subcontractors to ensure work is done correctly but could also help me design the project.?The other contractors were happy enough to create whatever I wanted but the problem was I was not sure what I wanted.?I had researched many different ideas and pictures but needed an expert to bounce ideas off of.?This is a value add that Peter has that created a kitchen/dining room that was beyond my dream.? Every step of the way, Diana Construction treated my home and money like it was their own.? I was on a very strict budget and Peter worked with me to find things we could compromise price on and those things that we did not want to compromise on. I was very specific on the kitchen renovation needing to be done for my daughter's trip home for Christmas and even with bumps along way, Peter made it happen. The dining room renovation included a handmade wooden?handrail for my existing iron banister overlooking the dining room and sunken living room.?Since replacing the entire unit was above my budget, Peter offered to repaint the iron work and hand make a wooden top rail to update the look of the banister.? The carpet was removed and replaced with hardwood floor.? The kitchen floor was already hardwood and it became apparent that we would not be able to match the color for the new floor.? Diana's floor subcontractor went above and beyond making the difference between the old and new floors seamless and the amount of work done by hand was impressive.? A doorway between the dining room and kitchen became a beautiful 6 foot opening.??Peter's understanding of the engineering made the change in a weight bearing wall safe and successful.? The dramatic impact with the wider?larger opening was beyond my imagination (although Peter knew all along that it would be just want I wanted!) The surprise plumbing we found in the wall and rerouting it didn't slow Peter down at all!? Diana Construction also repaired a plumbing error by another contractor that was causing an intermittent leak in the bathroom above the dining room and had caused the dining room ceiling to bow. The kitchen renovation was?a complete gutting.? New cabinets, granite, stone backsplash,?sink/faucet/garbage disposal, island, lighting, refrigerator and handmade window frame.?Peter worked with me to design the kitchen in?an efficient way that was also elegant and beautiful.? Being a townhouse, there?are space limitations but Peter found a way to include the upgrades I wanted that included a pantry, built in refrigerator and an island.? To that he added his special touches that I had not thought of which included under cabinet lighting, recessed lighting, wheels on the island so it could be moved, an overhang on the island that is a perfect sitting work space or hanging out with the cook, and building a new window frame for my floor to ceiling to floor front window.? Peter assisted with picking a paint that would compliment the granite. I chose and the living room color that I did not want to change.? He also recommended?a new hallway paint that would not clash with the new kitchen/dining room.?Rick, Diana Construction's tile expert, did an?impeccable job on my backsplash that created a beautiful focal point.? As our deadline approached and there were issues with the cabinet and granite vendors, Peter kept the pressure on to ensure our date was met.? He took my deadline on as his own and there was no way he was going to miss it! Peter was patient with me as I kept changing my mind about the new front door and checked several sources to find a stock door that I liked so we could avoid the extra cost of a custom door.? The result was a door that everyone that has seen it says "I love your new door!"? Always keeping his eye on details, Peter built a new door frame that matched my new kitchen window frame. Peter put the same care into even the more mundane parts of the job?like installing a utility sink replacement, having the entry hallway painted and replacing old ceiling lighting with recessed lights.? Every person I have been in contact with at Diana Construction as been professional, been expert in their trade and treated my home like their own.? I have already recommended Diana Construction to 3 friends who have been so impressed with what Diana Construction created in my home, that they just 'had to have them take care of work they need done!'? I use the word 'create' because what Peter and his crew did in my house was not a remodel; it was a? total renovation that created a home that has increased market value,?has a kitchen that is now a gathering place that flows into the dining room and the sunken living room and has beautiful curb appeal.? You can be assured that the next time I need work done in my home, Diana Construction will be the only call I make!
