  • This guy does it all! Ever since moving to the area a couple years ago, Carlos has been my go-to guy for just about everything including carpentry, drywall, electrical, and general handyman services. He came highly recommended and did not disappoint! And for the amount of work he’s done for me and the time he takes to finish a job to perfection, his prices are unbeatable.

  • Greg Montgomery is one of the best contractors I've ever worked with. Our vision for both the kitchen and the master bath started out a little vague but Greg kept listening and making suggestions and almost always had the same answer, "that would be awesome!". Better yet, the execution was perfect. We pulled together a mish-mash of used cabinetry, vanity top, vanity, tile, sinks, faucets and other materials and he made it all work together like a dream. Greg re-finished the cabinets, installed additional cabinets to expand a kitchen island and created a new butler's pantry where one didn't exist previously. He tore out an original master bath and replaced it with a contemporary open shower, new tile, and pieced together a beautiful vanity from various parts we had collected from different sources. We couldn't be happier with the results. Greg is extremely detail oriented, never missed a day, always pleasant, and keeps the disruption to a minimum. When using sub-contractors he made sure they were as punctual and detail oriented as he was. His fee was extremely fair and recognized that we were trying to stay within a budget. There was never a "take it or leave it" attitude, our dealings were all about what's possible. You won't regret giving Range Construction your business.

  • Alberto & Kevin arrived on time each of the four days of the repair. They were very knowledgeable & provided sound advice on how to proceed with some challenging water leak issues. They did a very good job on all repairs & cleaned up after each part of the job. I like the labor per hour & materials at cost approach used by the company-I knew what to expect during each phase of the project.

  • We were promised a "rushed install" by our account rep. Justin Carpenter, which should of happen within a two week period but we heard nothing for two weeks instead. I had to contact their office in Maryland to find out what was happening and they seemed confused. I scheduled the install but experienced a no show and had to reschedule to have them come out on November 11th, 2014. At this time, we had already had, for a week, our new roofing materials sitting in our yard being rained on and open to anyone who wanted to help themselves to our boxed up shingles, etc. They were late, not arriving to our Home until the afternoon which only allowed enough day light for them to do a quick install and leave. When they were done it was pitch black and just starting to pack up. They left our lawn littered with nails and roofing materials and did not really clean up. I called Wheaton and I told them that I was concerned about the lack of clean up and that a lot of debris was left behind but nothing came of it and no one followed up. A year later (now) we discovered they left roofing material scattered across our roof resulting in clogging our gutters that we had to pay a company to have cleaned. When I called Wheaton with pictures as proof they (Timothy Eagan) refused to reimburse us for their negligence. They stated they can't pay us for something that resulted from a job that they did a year ago saying "I don't agree with you." This means their five year workmanship warranty doesn't include clean up. I explained that this is not proper customer service not to make right on this since we paid thousands of dollars for the roof. He said "I'm entitled to my opinion." and "we keep talking in circles." with no compassion. Our contract states that they would clean up which was something our lawn and clogged gutter had proved they did not do. It cost us $125 to have someone clean out nails, scrap metal disks and shingles from our gutters. Our home is three stories high with low possibility for natural elements to clog our gutters. I hope Mr. Eagan is happy that he saved his company, Wheaton Roofing $125. I hope this small victory was worth it because what it really bought Wheaton was lost business and several bad reviews posted to many websites that will surely result in more loss of business from future prospects and I will be filing a complaint for poor business practices to BBB.

  • I cannot say enough good things about this company.  The workers have been prompt, work very hard, and do an excellent job.  They have treated my home and furniture with respect.  They had the old cabinets and most of the floor torn out the first day, and the work progressed very quickly after that.  It has taken about a month, which is longer than I had hoped for, but the results are well worth it.  The owner, Chris, was excellent at giving just the right amount of guidance when I was making decisions about choice of granite, paint colors, cabinet door pulls and back spash tile..  Although the project grew and wound up being more expensive then the original contract price, the additional charges were all because I wanted something that was more expensive -- not because the original quote wasn't reasonable.  I never felt I was being pressured to upgrade.
I wish I could put them on retainer and have someone come over for half a day every month or so to do things around the house for me.
I can recommend them without reservation.

  • At first, our experience with CSP Contracting was good. We were disappointed that Chris Parkhurst (owner) had not yet obtained a license for contracting in James City County (where we live) but we were able to obtain the building permit easily on our own. The deck he built looked beautiful and met our expectations - until the James City County inspectors came to do the second and final inspections. Chris signed as part of our contract that he would follow the JCC building requirements and I printed and gave him a copy of the booklet JCC requires deck builders to follow. Unfortunately, the deck failed the inspection on multiple (6) accounts.
As an example, the stairs are different heights - the bottom one is 6" and the top one is 8". My elderly mother-in-law just fell down the stairs because of this disparity!!!!! (this was one of the issues which failed during the JCC inspection)
Chris was notified multiple times by my husband and I that he needed to come repair the deck so it would pass the inspection. He agreed that he would come back to fix it in "a week" after he finished another project. He never showed up. Since October, we have attempted to email and call Chris multiple times and he has not responded once. According to JCC, the deck needs to be completely re-built because he didn't frame it correctly.
Upon close inspection, while the deck looks nice, there are places where the wood is separating from the boards because he used glue instead of screws.
Additionally, he was supposed to come back and stain the deck as well. He never showed up for this appointment either. We don't know what's going on but will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and the VA licensing bureau for his contractor's license because he has not fulfilled his contract, nor has he built us a safe product.

    Was Work Done?: YES
    Hire Again?: YES
    App. Cost: $409
Description of Work: Fixed the rotten door frame with touch-up painting.
Member Comments: I purchased JW Home Improvement's Big-Deal from Angie's list ($199 for 4-hour labor). The company contacted me right away and arranged an appointment for estimate (free with Big Deal). The estimate was 6-8 hours, which was longer than I expected (The similar jobs were usually done in 4-5 hours from my past experience). After 4 hours, the labor would be charged at the regular rate of $106/hr. However I was promised the final cost was be charge by actual hours.
The contractor did a good job fixing the door frame and it's completed in 5 hours. However I was unhappy that it took him an hour and half to shop for the materials in a Lowes store just 10 minutes away (included in labor hours). Next day Ed called to follow up the work and I complained about the shopping time too long. He kindly refunded me half an hour labor charge, then I was totally satisfied.
I have no doubt to give JW Home Improvement FIVE STARS for their service and will definitely hire them again.

  • Rick (the owner) and the crew at Tom Hanger were a pleasure to work with. The price was not the cheapest, but it was a fair value and well worth the quality of work. My only complaint was it can be difficult to reach Rick through email. He's very responsive with phone calls, so once you realize that it's not a problem. Rick personally came out to fix a few minor things around the house I noticed after the job (a little siding work that had been missed, tightening up the new door latch). They were also quick to replace a screen that had been damaged during the install. All in all, a very positive experience.

  • The work has been fantastic. They cleaned up after themselves. They were not disruptive at all. They were courteous with putting stuff on their feet. They were very professional and we could not have asked for more. I would use them again.
