Handyman reviews in Dulles

  • Working with the folks at Paint & Stain was an absolute dream. The quote was less than any other contractor. Their attentiveness to our vision and needs was impressive. Their ability to tailor the job as we went was fantastic. They made suggestions here and there, but allowed us the freedom to opt in or out for anything beyond the quote with no pressure at all. What I paid was what I was quoted. Definitely recommend for any job (not sure that there's anything that they cannot do).

  • Easy Renovations did an excellent job in repairing and renovating our house for sale. They are very professional, thoughtful, knowledgeable, reasonable, and delivered the work within timeline with good quality. Our house was sold quickly with the new look. I would highly recommend them!

  • I was a little nervous that the 3 hours would only allow time for 2 or 3 projects, but Hugo knocked off 7 items on my "to do" list. Hugo even fixed my toilet I didn't realize was leaking. Hugo was on time and worked diligently the whole 3 hours and stayed a few minutes to ensure the last task was done properly. His work was so good I've added more to my to do list and will have him back soon.

  • I cannot say enough good things about this company.  The workers have been prompt, work very hard, and do an excellent job.  They have treated my home and furniture with respect.  They had the old cabinets and most of the floor torn out the first day, and the work progressed very quickly after that.  It has taken about a month, which is longer than I had hoped for, but the results are well worth it.  The owner, Chris, was excellent at giving just the right amount of guidance when I was making decisions about choice of granite, paint colors, cabinet door pulls and back spash tile..  Although the project grew and wound up being more expensive then the original contract price, the additional charges were all because I wanted something that was more expensive -- not because the original quote wasn't reasonable.  I never felt I was being pressured to upgrade.
I wish I could put them on retainer and have someone come over for half a day every month or so to do things around the house for me.
I can recommend them without reservation.

    Was Work Done?: YES
    Hire Again?: YES
    App. Cost: $409
Description of Work: Fixed the rotten door frame with touch-up painting.
Member Comments: I purchased JW Home Improvement's Big-Deal from Angie's list ($199 for 4-hour labor). The company contacted me right away and arranged an appointment for estimate (free with Big Deal). The estimate was 6-8 hours, which was longer than I expected (The similar jobs were usually done in 4-5 hours from my past experience). After 4 hours, the labor would be charged at the regular rate of $106/hr. However I was promised the final cost was be charge by actual hours.
The contractor did a good job fixing the door frame and it's completed in 5 hours. However I was unhappy that it took him an hour and half to shop for the materials in a Lowes store just 10 minutes away (included in labor hours). Next day Ed called to follow up the work and I complained about the shopping time too long. He kindly refunded me half an hour labor charge, then I was totally satisfied.
I have no doubt to give JW Home Improvement FIVE STARS for their service and will definitely hire them again.

  • There were some supply fees. They completed everything in a couple of hours. They did a fine job with the gutters. The way they attached the storm door was not flush though. You could see where they re-attached onto the frame of the door. I feel they could have come up with a better way of doing that since it didn't look like prior. Scheduling the work was fine. Their responsiveness was fine here. They also flip houses and they were talking to me about doing business with me, but their responsiveness there was poor which was strange considering they reached out to me.

  • On both occassions, Ken was very professional, curteous, punctual and fast. He showed up when he said he would and completed the repairs within a couple of hours. His price was easily 40% lower than that of other competitors I called for quotes. Now he is our and quot;go-toand quot; for home repair and handyman services.

  • They did a good job with both places and fixed the items that I was not satisfied with, but have not responded back to me for followup additional work. I guess the work does not give them a enough revenue but should have returned my calls and told me. I give them F for responsiveness for followup work

  • A storm knocked down a piece of aluminum siding (about 3 feet long) of the 2-story house near the roof line (20-ft above the ground).
I called Handyman Connection of Fairfax (HCF) based on the reviews from Angie's List.
    The dispatcher responded quickly initially.
1st handyman came on time and quoted $250.  However, it did not work out due to weather.  Later the handyman left HCF.
2nd handyman came with 2 hours late.  He looked it and said he was not comfortable working with that height.
3rd handyman missed 1st appointment without call.  I called HCF to make the 2nd appointment.  Then he missed the 2nd appointment without call as well.  I called HCF and left a message.  No one responded since.

3 weeks after trying to work with HCF, I spent 2 hours to fix the siding myself.  It even took less time trying to make an appointment with Handyman Connection of Fairfax.  For this reason, I graded it "F".
