AAll-Phase Roofing & ConstructionWhen I called to schedule an inspection, the original date was about a week out. When they became aware that we had a current leak, they adjusted schedules to arrive the next day. The inspection and recommendations were very thorough and professional. Although we decided to not proceed with All Phase Roofing for this project, we would highly recommend them if you are in need of any roof work.- Kevin D.

AMark Home RepairMy mother lives in a home that hasn't had maintenance on it for years! Mark came in to do some smaller projects for me. The house had a 60 year old toilet in it which I wanted replaced. When you take on a project like that it requires knowledge and proper parts to make old fit new. I just shook my head when he removed the old toilet thinking this will never work. He got it done and it works perfectly. It is difficult to find someone just to do the small jobs now days...they are all about the big money. You call and they either don't show up or don't call. I believe there is no project too big or small for Mark. He has been a lifesaver. I am going to keep him busy and I hope others will as well- Linda D.

ABlue Hawk BuildersFirstly, I highly recommend Darwin for any level of construction or renovation jobs you may be doing. We recently used BlueHawk Builders to build a pole barn / garage and have been delighted with the both the process and the results. I have worked with a number of other contractors and know when I'm working with someone who knows their business and takes genuine pride in the quality of the work they're doing- and that certainly describes Darwin and staff. Jeff and Crystal Bomer Madison Heights, VA- Jeff B.

AKLM BuildersThis company did an excellent job. They came every day and worked very hard. The price was great for all the work they did. The roofing was done very well. Everything done as on the work order I signed. They broke a glass table while working on the roof, but offered to take the price for a new one off the bill. I did call them about 1 year later to put in a low deck for a hot tub, but he never showed up.???- Annette C.

ARockbridge BuildersI have used Rockbridge Builders on several occasions from 2003 to 2010. Every contact with the company has been positive. They go beyond the call of duty to insure the customer is pleased, they work professionally, and most of all know what they are doing. I highly recommend this company without reservation.- Katie M.

ACapitol Sheds.ComOne fellow did the foundation and then Capitol Sheds put the building up. We spent around $5000 with the shed and the foundation. They did a very good job. I’m not sure if it’s the color that I ordered, may be it is. I thought that the color that I picked was a little closer to what the color of the house is, but the garage is tan which may have been the color that I picked. They put it up in 2 days. Their price was very good. It was better than the other bids that we had.- Harold & Ellen R.

AM D & B Construction Services LLCThese young men gave me a fair estimate. They were clean cut, arrived on time, knew what products to use. The process took several days. When they had to add another gallon of expensive paint, they did not charge me for it but included it in their original estimate. I was impressed with their work and their character.- lynne g.

AGray ContractingMr. Gray was always on time and prompt. He finishes a job before moving on to the next one and does not bounce around from job to job holding each job up. He is very pleasant and professional. He finished the job in about 2.5 days which was great. He replaced a cracked and falling down, some sort of sheetrock type ceiling, on my side patio/car port, hauling all the old ceiling away. He even replaced the patio ceiling light and did not charge me since it was not in the original contract. He said that he just didn't want to use the old worn out light on a brand new ceiling. I have other work for him to do and would not hesitate to use him again. Overall, everything went very well and I am very satisfied- Leland T.

AYou can't get any better. They have knowledge and great personnel. I had water coming into the basement after being repaired earlier by a different group. Flint redid the work because some pipes had been crushed when the first group backfilled the dirt. The moral of the story is to always get someone good.

ABilly and his crew did a wonderful job replacing our gutters. They look great! Pricing was good as well. He was easy to work with and made us feel like he actually cared more about helping us improve our home instead of just the money. We will definitely be contacting him in the future for our siding and other home improvement projects and will definitely recommend him to anyone looking for home improvement needs.

AFor several years my husband and I disagreed on remodeling the master bath. One day I looked at the huge garden tub and the amount of space it consumed and decided he was right! I immediately went to Angie’s list and found Ascension Builders. I contacted the office and in no time, Matt Van Alstine returned my call. We talked about what I had in mind and he set up a time to come give us an estimate. He was very polite and considerate. He removed his shoes at the front door! We talked about options to open the small room. He sent us an estimate and my husband and I agreed it was quite reasonable. We also wanted the basement door and casing replaced and Matt said that would not be a problem. From the first day, I knew we had chosen the best company. Matt and his son did a lot of the work; and the subcontractors who work with Matt were great. Matt consulted us on each stage of the job and was very understanding when I had questions. One of the things I appreciated most was Matt’s attention to detail. My husband told Matt he would like to do the wood trim and the painting of the bathroom and Matt did not have a problem with that. Unfortunately, my husband encountered some health issues and when I told Matt, he did not even blink. He simply said no problem and did that part of the job also. Each day all the debris and dust were swept and removed. Matt made accommodations to suit our schedule and said “we are guests in your home” which meant a lot to me. It was, indeed, a pleasure work with Matt, his son and all the crew. I will not wait as long for the next renovation.

Dno professionalism..cigarette butts left on property, no tarps put on new floor when requested by me, resulting in globs and specks of drywall mud left to harden on my new floor, and when one was put down, it was filthy. all in all, sloppy, amaturish work, but most of all, the owner of KLM refused to attend to rusting screening that was put up less than six months agoby him in the porch, which is a safety hazard to children and pets, especially. he told me there was "nothing he could do about that."

FWe hired Brian to finish our basement. Do NOT hire Brian for drywall or painting. Yes, his prices are good, but you get what you pay for. Do not expect a finished, quality job. We had him go over problem areas once and we did not see much improvement. At the end, you could see paint strokes everywhere, gaps in the drywall, tape lines, paint drips, wall paint on the ceiling and ceiling paint on the walls, uneven walls, paint on hardware and the floor, cracks, not all areas that needed caulking were caulked, areas that were not sanded enough, and long cracks/buckling going across the ceiling where it should have been staggered instead of square hung across a large area. He said the whole job would take 3-4 weeks and we did not believe this. It ended up taking 3 months. He rushed at the end and did not check over his work. He told us he was assuming we would add the final coat of paint... He did one coat of paint (mixed with primer) on new drywall. Every painter we asked afterwards said it is standard to do at least three coats on new drywall. One of primer and 2 coats of paint. At first, he said he stood by his work. My husband got him to admit he rushed at the end and there were many problem areas. He offered to come on his free time to try to repair and add another coat of paint, but we were not confident in his abilities. All painters who gave us quotes said it was the worst job they have seen. The company we ended up hiring said it was the most extensive repair job they had ever done. Do not listen to Brian's advice on obtaining a building permit and do not expect him to know everything that is required by code. Brian is skilled in some areas, but his attention to detail is very much lacking and he will cut corners.
