Insulation reviews in Clifton

Great! They really helped with the insurance company who didn't want to cover everything. They were helpful in offering options to do some extra needed work but since I was tight on funds they found ways to decrease the costs. The work looks great. My only complaint was that it was clear they started a bigger job towards the end of my job. They were less available and they left a large tool that n my garage for than a week.

    Northern Virginia Insulators
Brad made time in his busy schedule to meet with us at our convenience.    He answered all our questions about types of insulation and how to get the very best value for our money.    Of several bids, his was the lowest.   His expertise in this area was plain to see.
And we were really impressed that, when asked about our crawlspace, he suggested simple things we could do ourselves instead of trying to sell us on an expensive proposal.   That kind of integrity is rare.
While we ended up going with a company that offered additional services for our attic project, I know Brad would have done a great job for us.

    Quality Insulation
From several bids, we chose Quality to add insulation to our attic.   Dan offered the most complete package.   Beyond the essentials of baffles, sealing and more insulation, he suggested building a storage solution and giving a finished look to the whole project.
His expert crew accomplished all this.   We appreciated their diligence and the great care they took to protect our house as they worked.   The attic now looks amazing and, even more important, we finally have a well-insulated home.   With Quality Insulation, the name says it all.

Fabulous.  He told me when we would arrive and he was on time.  He told me how long it would take and it did.  It could not have gone better.  Best news: we can tell our upstairs is warmer.  We weren't sure we would be able to tell a difference but we can.  We wished we had done this sooner.  I definitely recommend Northern Virginia Insulators.  He is professional and very knowledgeable.

The original day the service was to be provided was 9/25/12. The technician had marked his calender for the following week. But he was very apologetic when he called back and came first thing the next morning. Everything was completed in a couple of hours and done well.

    Windows on Washington
WoW had the best price by far for the Marvins - this is a superior product that doesn't come cheap BTW - but we intend to stay in the house for another 20 years so it was worth it.
Installation is half the battle with window replacement. You can buy the best windows, but if the installers are incompetent, you will still have serious issues almost immediately. WoW provided a crew that was so superior I could write pages describing all the little things they did to make the two day install period go smoothly. Some examples:
    a) On his own initiative, Young identified the source of some existing rot in a window frame to poor caulking in an attic vent, and after repairing the window and capping it (we capped all the exterior woodwork) climbed up and caulked the vents on both ends of the house at no additional charge
    b) One of the crew members identified an issue with the ballast in one of the windows during the installation - a factory defect. He never would have had to say anything, and I would have just had to deal with manually holding the top sash on the doublehung up while I locked the window - something I probably could have lived with and may not even have really noticed  - though it might be an issue for an older person with less physical strength. WoW kept after Marvin, and after several go-rounds, finally obtained the support and parts needed and came back and restored the one window to perfect operating condition at zero extra charge and no hassle. If you have a problem, these guys wil stand by you and help you obtain satisfaction from the manufacturer/OEM.
    c) The finish carpentry around the interior of the two installed doors inside the house was superior. All I needed to do was simple painting the next day and it was if it never happened. The exterior capping and caulking of all windows was superior. The crew was polite, respectful of property, caused zero damage to the home despite being in every single room, cleaned up ALLdebris from removing the old windows, and basically, when they left - you never would have known they were there
This is a superior company run by ex-military guys who take the whole Honor Code thing seriously. They will not try to trick you, pull the hard sell routine, or tell you anything that you cannot verify easily via the internet. Talk to them after talking to some of the competition - most notably the aburdity  that is Window World - and see for yourself. Remember - the installation is at least as important as the product that you buy. WoW employs a top notch crew, and there are few replacement window retailers in Northern VA who can say the same without you having to pay way more for it.

    Colonial Remodeling LLC
We had a very pleasant experience with Colonial Remodeling.   Their sales rep Kevin did a great job of explaining everything and told us what to expect.  Both the roofing crew and siding crew knocked before doing any work and made sure we were ready to allow them to work.  We provided coffee and drinks for the crews ( This goes a long way towards good work ).  The workers were very polite and worked quickly and neatly.  They always made sure to clean up after themselves and even took their shoes off whenever they had to come in to use our restroom.

The only hiccup was a minor scheduling mistake with some minor work towards the end of the project but it was quickly resolved and there wasn't much of a delay.  There was also a small delay in hauling away some extra materials but nothing major.

Overall, our house looks brand new.  My husband and I were very nervous about having so much work done.  Colonial did a great job of juggling everything and the crews never got mixed together which kept the project going smoothly and efficiently.  Colonial was also great about doing some last minute things for us such as adding the outdoor outlet and storm door.  They even did the painting of the metal roof and front door at no extra cost as long as we supplied them with the paint.

I have to say that I am very impressed with how things turned out.  Our house was always very cold come wintertime and the temperature would frequently have trouble staying above 65 degrees with our heat pump running all night.  I have always heard that spray foam was a great way to insulate, but was always turned off by the cost.  I didn't want to put 5-6k into insulation and have little or no results.  I decided to take a leap of faith and contact this company.  Bonnie came out and evaluated the situation and came up with a plan for the best way to tackle the job.  She was prompt and I was given a quote with a day or so.  Appointment was scheduled and job was completed within two weeks.  The crew was great and the prep work was meticulous so that nothing would get dirty.  It was an all day job.

We finally started having some cold nights in the 20's and I set my thermostat to 72 degrees for a test.  When I came down in the morning, I couldn't believe my eyes when the thermostat still read 72.  Later that day, I lowered the thermostat to 70 degrees and when I checked it later in the day it was 71 degrees.  I thought it was broken or something.  My heat pump always had to run nonstop just to try and keep up to 68 degrees.  The comfort level in my home is unbelievable now and I suspect I will start to see some energy savings in the near future.  I couldn't be happier!!  Expect some smell from the foam for a week or so.  It's kind of a plastic smell.  I just opened up the windows and let it air out during the days with a fan.  Bonnie left one of her fans in the attic with a pipe leading outside to help air it out.  Not a real big deal.

This is easily one of the best decisions I have ever made with my home and I would highly recommend!!  Nova Foam is the way to go.  Thanks Bonnie!

    Discount Energy Services
It's a "mom and pop" type of situation.  Administrative part could be more organized, actually a lot more organized.  BUT, the work was done well.  The people doing the work arrived on time and covered all the carpets and window area where the hose was coming into the house.  They were polite and cleaned up after the work was done.

    Discount Energy Services
The estimate was scheduled quickly.  The work was scheduled quickly.  The staff arrived on time.  They were very professional and worked hard considering they were one man short.  The attic looked very neat when they finished.  The insulation has made a very positive difference in the house temperature.  There was a customer service issue which Discount Energy resolved.

Note:  When receiving your estimate, clarify whether your quote is for cash payment or if there is a higher price to use a credit card.
