Tire Buying And Repair reviews in Christiansburg

    Poole Brothers
DO NOT believe the 12 month or 12,000 mile warranty they advertise. I had a master Cylinder replaced and 2 months later the part went bad. They made me pay for the labor again to re-install it. Mike Poole hides in the back and makes Angel deal with unhappy customers due to his dishonorable business practices. I have been a customer of theirs for years and didn't deserve to be treated this way. I guess the $6000 I've spent of the past 6 years there for repairs wasn't worth the $167 + $5.02 I was charged. Yes, I plan on shouting this from the highest mountain top in the NRV.

    Free Service Tire Co Inc
I went to Free Service Tire because a family member recommended them. I had already purchased my tires and had an appointment for them to be mounted and balanced for 11 on a Saturday. When I got there, the manager told me that a couple of his mechanics had called in with strep throat, and they had a doctor's note. Since he couldn't make them come in, he said, they would be short staffed, and the wait would be at least three hours. At this point, I was a bit irritated that I had driven 40 minutes on a Saturday when they had my contact information and could have called me to let me know there would be a delay. However, I could understand that things happen, but I had plans and couldn't wait. I asked to schedule the earliest appointment available for the next Saturday. I was scheduled for 8:00, and after leaving my contact information yet again, I left. The next Saturday, my husband came with me and we decided to take care of several errands after the appointment since I had wasted a trip the week before. We arrived on time and walked into an empty lobby. When the manager walked in, he didn't bother looking at us or even saying hello. He walked to his computer and began typing, pausing once to speak with a customer who was asking questions from the front doorway. After I said 'good morning' to him, the manager continued to type away at his computer, finally acknowledging me with a 'good morning.' He continued to focus on his computer, but without looking at either of us, started talking about how it had been a rough morning because several of his mechanics had called in with strep throat. Upon hearing that, I knew what was coming. My husband asked how long the appointment would take, reminding the manager that we were there for the tires to be mounted and balanced--a task that should take an hour or less. He told us that it would be at least 10:30 or 11 before they could get to us. Again, another two and a half to three hour wait. And yet again, no phone call to let me know that there would be a wait. My husband asked why it would take so long, since we were there at the beginning of the day, and he told us that it took a long time to mount and balance tires, plus they were short staffed. We told him that we were not able to leave the car, and my husband said that it should not take more than an hour to mount and balance the tires. The manager replied "If you can do that, then I'll give you a job" and walked out of the room. When he came back, we told him we would be leaving and take the car elsewhere. We called Thompson Tire immediately after leaving, and they told us they would be able to fit us in by 10. We were there at 10 and the car was finished before 11. My suggestion is to avoid this place--don't even bother with an "appointment"-- and go to Thompson Tire.

They are fantastic. I hesitate to say that because they might get super, super busy and it will be difficult to get in. They're just great, great folks. They were recommended to us by someone who knows lots of car-related stuff and mechanic type thing. We've been taking our vehicles there for years. This friend of my husband's recommended them, and they're great. They are very reasonable. They are probably one of the better values around here. It was great. We get our tires through them. They are always very friendly and they're just good people.

    Thompson Tire Co Inc
The nicest, most trustworthy, most helpful tire store I've ever been to. I saw a number of good reviews on Angie's List and I'm very glad I found them. We had a flat tire and were scrambling to get it taken care of. As with most people, I approached the tire store with fear of what was about to happen. There was no need, they were very friendly, glad to help, make recommendations, provided rides, serviced quickly and were far cheaper than I expected to have to pay. I will definitely go to Thompson for all services they offer.

M & M Tires is close to where I work. They will come to my workplace, pick up my car, do the service and bring it back in a timely manner. They are courteous and friendly. I have been very pleased with their service and will continue to call them when I need to.

I travel in my job and seem to need an oil change, tires or some other service almost monthly. I have used Thompson Tire for a number of years for all my auto service needs. I like to consider myself a regular customer of theirs. They always make time for me and accommodate my busy schedule. The Counter guys are helpful, friendly and knowledgeable of their services and products. The garage techs are professional and the quality of their work is excellent. I think the most important reason that I keep going there is that I trust them to do only the work that I need done. No automotive double speak just to get the bill a little higher. Their prices may not be big box low but you can bet it is fair. If you need a place for complete car care, I recommend Thompson Tire

They do everything for us. They were recommended to us by a local a long, long time ago and they told us not to take our car anywhere else. They are always just right on top of things, always quick, they do good work, I feel that they're fair. My father-in-law knows car people and they always give discounts where they live and the price that they gave us was within $15 of the discount that he could get, I think they're very, very fair. They're great.

The clerk checked my car to identify the right size tire and confirmed that they has three grades of replacement tires available. I selected the middle grade (Kelly) tires. The installation was completed in 30 minutes and I was on my way.

    MERCHANT'S INC
I spoke to Bob Grove, the manager, on Wednesday, February 1st. 2012.  I received an estimate for the requested repairs and I made an appointment for Saturday, February 4th.  I took my vehicle, 2008 Nissan Armada, to Merchants at 7:00a.m. on Saturday.  The work was finished by 4:00p.m. same day.  A few years ago we had some disappointing visits to this Merchants but Bob Grove has greatly improved the quality of the workmanship and the customer service.  I definitely recommend this facility.

They replaced the compressor and did an excellent job. When it seemed the a/c was still not working properly, they took the truck back in and did the repair for free.

Before that, we had a/c repaired on our 2005 van. They cleaned out the a/c. It still did not work properly so they replaced the battery. Before I paid for the service, they had me take my van and drive it around as I ran my errands that day to make sure it worked. They charged me for the battery and no labor. We take both of our vehicles here for service.

They are polite and very good. They do not advertise anywhere, but are consistently busy due to word of mouth. They have a great lobby area with wireless and will give rides to and from the service station. Their hours are reasonable for working folks too.
