    Miller's Septic Service Inc
We've been using Millers since we moved into our house 10 years ago, for our annual septic inspection. They always show up when they're supposed to, do a complete job on the inspection, and provide a thorough report the following week. This past fall, we had a problem with the solids tank alarm, which turned out to be the pump. They had to order the part, which took two days, but I felt they repaired it as quickly as possible. They also gave us guidance during those two days on what to do inside the house in order to keep ourselves out of trouble until the repair was complete (limit showers, don't wash clothes, etc). It was a very expensive repair, but also the only one we've had to make to the system in 10 years. I'm very happy with Millers and the service they provide.

After the diagnosis that pump was not working and scheduling to come and replace the pump after the weekend, they pumped out the tank (1000 gallon tank) to allow us to use the house for the weekend (showers, laundry, dishes, etc).
Came back on Monday afternoon as scheduled and replaced the pump - 1 year workmanship warranty and 3 year pump warranty.
On price, the initial call charge was $225. The pump replacement was $800 additional. Total $1025 for service call and diagnosis, pump tank and replace pump and two level sensors.
Work was done professionally and as scheduled.

    Old Dominion Septic & Rooter
I spoke to Peggy Norris the Owner on Monday, late in the afternoon, regarding my need to find a company that could pump out my Primary Septic Tank on Tuesday (prior to my having another home construction project that was to commence on Wednesday).  I received a call around 4:30 from her husband, John, who assured me that the job would be able to be completed the next afternoon.  Jimmy and Steve arrived at my home on Tuesday at 4:00 and were most courteous, professional, and informative about my septic system as well as septic systems in general.  No digging was necessary as my tanks have four round concrete cap covers in addition to a larger concrete cover that is over our pump.  I remained with Jimmy and Steve during the entire pumping process.  During our conversation, I also found out that this is a family owned business that employs only their family members.  I would not hesitate whatsoever to recommend Old Dominion Septic & Rooter to others as per my experience with them.

    Old Dominion Septic & Rooter
Old Dominion came on 12/28 and pumped my septic tank and told me to flush the toilet. The guys told me it was stopped up and worked to free it up.After a little bit of effort the guys freed it up.They told me I did not have any bacteria in my septic tank which is important because the bacteria breaks down the stuff in there. So I bought a bag of Bio-active from them to flush once a month to help create the bacteria in the septic tank. The cost was $200 to pump the septic tank $40 for the bag of Bio-active total $245.00.The guys were very good workers and very helpful. Will use again in the future.

The service man was polite and professional, however after finding my file where I kept septic info I discovered that two years ago almost to the day they had already pumped the tank. I had been so sick for the past two years I did not remember they had previously pumped the tank. The reason for having it done now was for Chesterfield County proof of pumping. When I called to set up the appointment I told them that I couldn't remember when we had it done. They have computerized records but did not bother to tell me that we just had it pumped two years ago. It would have saved $200 that we really didn't have to spend and could have requested a copy of our last service to send to Chesterfield. When I called the office to discuss the situation the lady I talked to was indignant about they don't check the records and basically it was my problem. We will never use them again and will warn any of our friends not to as well. Very disappointed in the professionalism of this company that obviously doesn't look out for their customers.

    Stemmle Plumbing Repair Inc
Bought an old house that was flipped and was hoodwinked by the seller's 'inspection' of the septic system.  They just did a walk-over and determined the septic tank did not need to be pumped.  That was true because the house had not been inhabited for about 3 years.  Anyway, 3 days after we moved into the house, the system backed up.
Stemmle took the correct approach (which, in hindsight, proved wrong) by rooting the line from the house to the septic tank.  The system backed up again.  They were very responsive when we had to have the septic tank pumped.
They then started exploring the outlet line from the septic tank to the Distribution box.  They rooted and camera-ed as far as they could, but the outlet line was just too compacted.
Bottom line:  The outlet line to the D-box (about 100 feet) had to be excavated and replaced.  The D-box itself was basically disintegrated and had to be replaced.  About the first 10-25 feet of each of the header lines leading to the drain field needed to be replaced.  Fortunately, my story ends there.  I did not have to replace my drain field and 4 weeks later - all seems to be working well.
What I liked about Stemmle:  I liked that they tried to address the problem with the least invasive (i.e. least expensive) approaches first.  As it became evident that my particular issue required a more aggressive resolution (excavation), they actually credited me some of the previous work they had done and applied that credit to the big job of replacing the outlet line, D-box and header lines.
Everyone I worked with at Stemmle was professional and seemed to be genuinely interested in resolving my issue at as little cost to me as possible.  Nobody wants to spend money on this stuff, and it's not cheap when you start talking about excavating septic lines.  But I feel good that I chose Stemmle and would recommend them to anyone going through a similar h***.

Great!  When we were unable to be present at the last moment, Patty was great about communicating with us via phone to confirm the service, communicate results and collect payment. It gave us great peace of mind to get this service done as scheduled rather than having to reschedule. Patty was thorough and clear in explaining everything.  There were a couple of small piles of dirt that we had to move after the service - didn't expect those but not really a problem. Overall, professional, friendly, accommodating.

It was so hot. It was not a nice day for these guys, but they were so professional. Everything was great. The responsiveness of this company is fantastic. They had a whole crew dispatch department (very professional) so the guy could organize. I had to get a pump repair done, because the pump had stopped working and they were able to diagnose that with the septic guys here. They had to send someone else a few days later to get the pump repaired. Finally we put an cap so that the next time the sewer guys didn't have to dig up the earth to get to the sewer. I wasn't here the day the guy came to put the cap on. We had all this wet mud/clay on our lawn. These guys not only got rid of that dirt, and put it into the woods, but they cleaned up the whole area and receded around it. So A's straight across, in everything. It was a great group!

He addresses every issue professionally.  There wasn't one corner that was cut, he made sure everything was perfect.  All materials were high quality.  When my barn is visited, everyone marvels.  The workmanship shows everywhere.  Built at a timely manner as well.

Contacted company and was able to schedule an appointment on relatively short notice.  Operator arrived at precisely the time scheduled and explained the process.  He spent a considerable amount of time attempting to locate the tank cover in an area of the yard which has a layer of hardpan soils that made probing for the tank difficult.   Seemed to take the problem as a challenge and soon had the tank located and was about his business.  Excavated the soil above the tank cover carefully so he could replace the grass after the job was complete.  Pumped the tank, replaced the soil and grass and left the lawn with hardly a trace of his work.  Advised that he would notify the county health department that the service had been performed so they could update their records.
