    Mr Handyman of Richmond
I hired the company for their 4 hours minimum rate + the $75 trip charge for coming out. When the technician came out he informed me that he could not repair the steps to the house or the deck, that it was to extensive for him to get it done . Instead he said he would write me an estimate he charged me $375 on the spot to write an estimate for deck and steps leading up to the house repair. He emailed me an estimate a couple of days later, the estimate he wrote for me was for $4,627.00 for deck repair and like $3600 to repair a few steps leading up to the house. Needless to say I did not go with this company and got the work done at a much lesser price. I get that a contractor can decide whatever high price they are going to charge you, as long as it spelled out before the work starts. But I do not believe it was fair to be charged at total of $375 to write me an estimate. When what I signed up for was 4 hours worth of work( repairs) at $384.00. Which I did not get what I paid for . And paid Mr. Handyman of Richmond $375 for an estimate. The receptionist/ customer service was friendly but would not hire or recommend them again. *Please note a few years ago I did get a quote from Mr. Handyman for free, but think that was from Mr. Handyman from Chesterfield/Tri-cities and that quote was for free and the estimate was fair and compatible, the tech that came out was friendly and professional. Thank you

    Handyman Matters
We were very disappointed at the services we received from Handyman Matters of Richmond. I called and asked to have someone come out to give an estimate to have our front door and bathroom door replaced, and to replace trim around bathroom. I was told about their specials that were getting ready to end and said 4 or 6 hours would be more than enough time and they didn't need to come and give an estimate. The four jour special was $375. Four visits and a week later the work was completed to the tune off $1900 and we had purchased the doors and trim ourselves. When I called to complain for the second time, I asked to speak with the owner, Michelle. I was told she was in a meeting and she would call me back that afternoon. I received a call that afternoon from the manager, Joe, who I had previously shared my concerns with re: the amount of time it was taking as well as poor communication and the wokers not having the proper tools who told me the owner would be out of the office for a few days and he wanted to help me. I shared with him very detailed concerns and he fairly immediately found a "mathmatical" error in the bill of $500. Yes a $500 mathematical error. This was after 2 different workers came without the proper supplies but didn't realize it until they had already started. The storm door was broken when removing it and we were charged for the new piece and the labor until I complained. Joe gave nothing but excuse after excuse for the poor service received and high prices we were charged . He made some adjustments and we ended up with a $1200 bill, never heard from the owner as requested. Thought we could do cheaper than Lowe's but found out the hard way. We could have replaced every door in the house with Lowe's for what we oaid them. I Will never recommend them to anyone!

    Bubbas Handyman Service
I called Bubbas Handyman service at short notice and he did not disappoint. He sent over 2 very professional hardworking people. I was very satisfied with the work that was performed and overjoyed that he could help me at such a short notice after another handyman did not show up. I'm very grateful and I plan to use them again.

The Carpentry & Painting Experts LLC
They never showed up. I scheduled this 3 weeks ago and sent them my punch-list. I took today off and when I called them, they said that they failed to send me a contract and weren't going to be able to come out and were extremely non-chalant and made it seem like it was my fault. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

    Chuck Short Handyman Services
He's just done so many different things for me. Very reliable and responsible. If it's an emergency, he even comes out on weekends. He really is a gem. His responsiveness was really good this time. I can describe something on the phone to him and he knows what it is. I don't to be an electrician or fence installer to know the right terms and everything. I can just describe the situation and he already knows. He's licensed, bonded, and insured. He's done repairs before, a lot of repairs, and he knows what he can do and what he can't do. He's not in the floor refinishing business. He would not take on that job and lie to me that he can do it and then really can't and that becomes a mess. That's become a thing. I need to know their limits and their expertise. He's always honest about that. He's very honest. He has honesty and integrity.

It was excellent. He is dependable, reliable, and inexpensive. For pricing, an A only because there is no grade higher than A. Somebody else would charge me a call to come out and then a call for the things they did. He doesn't do that, really. He knows I'll pay him. He's the type of person I can leave the key to the thing and then when I come back he'll either call me with the bill and come by and pick up a check, or I'll bring him a check someplace else or whatever. I've used him forever. Approximately July 15, 2015, I used him the first time; I had a home inspection done on a house I was selling. I paid for it so I would know if there was anything wrong with the house that needed to be fixed, and he came out at a very short notice. He came out and did all the work for me and it was fantastic. The buyer decided that since I had my homeowner's inspection and a sheet from him with all the stuff done to fix everything, that he didn't need a home inspection himself. That's the first time I used him. And you can mark everything A. His punctuality was unbelievable. I mean, he came right out and did this instead of making me wait and wait, holding up the sale or the closing of the house. The charge for that was approximately $365.00. There was a long list of repairs from ceiling rot, a tiny hole in the soffit or fascia that had to be sealed up so that squirrels and birds would not get in the roof. There were all kinds of things; painting, little touch-up painting, and minor repairs to the drywall; just a long list of stuff in multiple categories of home maintenance and repairs. My first impression of this provider was that he was very willing to help me in a professional yet rapid way. In other words, it had to be done and it had to be done quickly. He didn't want me to have the closing held up. He got in there and he came really early in the morning, I met him at the house, opened the door, and stayed around while he worked. He was very fast and I was very appreciative. I've had him do so many things like from the most minute things to something major. Approximately October 20 2016, he did the install of all the new appliances in my house. I re-did the kitchen and he did like the microwave install, which was very complicated, and dishwasher, sink, faucets, the light and the switch for the light where the washer and dryer is in the utility room. He just did everything. And he installed my vinyl kitchen floor. The charge for this service was approximately $233.00. I bought all the stuff and brought it to the house, and he and his assistant did the installs. It looked outstanding and everything worked. The microwave worked, the dishwasher worked. Everything was done as required. Grades were A overall and all categories.Approximately June 2, 2016, he built a gate to block the view of my garbage cans. He cordoned off an area and built a lattice work wall and gate for approximately $135.00. All A's. This was between the fence and the corner of the house. He built the frame for it and then he put the lattice work on there. He built the frame around it, like a picture frame almost, and then he had to put the latch on the gate. That was to keep up with H.O.A. standards. It took him a while. He took his time, he did it right, and it looks great. I haven't had one single problem with it at all.

    Chuck Short Handyman Services
He is my go-to guy. He is, I wouldn't say, the most prompt. In other words, he's so busy he's backed up, sometimes for weeks, but, if it's an emergency, he will come out. If it's not an emergency, he'll give you a ballpark of when he'll be there, usually within the week, sometimes that same day. I really like him. He's honest, he's inexpensive, and he gets the job done properly. He's licensed and insured. He's a really hard-working guy and he always has jobs lined up for weeks in advance. I highly recommend Chuck. It would probably be about $50. He lets the owner do as much as they want to or as little as they want to. I want to do as much as I can. That means he can just swing by, do the install, and leave. You know what I'm saying? It helps.

It was excellent. I have continued to use him because he is reliable and inexpensive. Somebody else would charge me a call to come out and then a charge for the things they did. SJ & Sons Contracting
Painter failed to answer messages. Was due at 9am. Arrived at 1:45 PM. Rushed job, did not tape/cover carpet at baseboards resulting in painted CARPET! Failed to cover my Pennsylvania House dresser ( as SPECIFIED IN THE CONTRACT) resulting in pain speckles on my CHERRY DRESSER. Painters left actual SPOTS of pain on my carpeting. I am aghast!
