Eye Care reviews in Chester

    Linas, Dr. Steven A.
I was told at check-in that my eye exam would be $90 and I paid $90. Just your typical eye exam. We chatted while he checked my vision, but he failed to mention that he was adding more and more services to my bill. When I checked out, I was charged an additional $390.40. The additional charges were never explained. I did not get contacts fitted, or anything out of the ordinary. His conversation is pleasant as long as you don't mind him ignoring your input. He disregarded my concerns regarding my visual health. Even during the exam, he was pressuring me to buy unnecessary and expensive products. He may be competent but I wouldn't go back.

There was plenty of parking. I walked in and there was very little wait. They got me back quickly to do the initial exams. They staff was quite friendly. I then went back for my exam with the doctor. There are a lot of people involved in the process so it was a bit confusing keeping the people straight. But the exam was quick and easy.
I did get information about my prescription both for reading glasses (different prescription for each eye) and to get my prescription from 20/25 to 20/20.
After the doctor told me my prescription I was led out into the eye wear area to speak to a representative. They have a lot of nice eye wear. The packages though were very, very expensive. I don't remember the exact quotes but even for the reading glasses it was at least $500. I think for bifocals it was $700. I just couldn't see myself paying that type of money since my prescription isn't that bad.
After viewing the glasses, I went back to speak to the doctor. I think he was annoyed that I wasn't going to get glasses that day. I explained that it wasn't in my budget, which it wasn't. I was surprised by his reaction.
Check out was easy and they gave me a copy of my prescription.
All in all I liked it. I will probably get my glasses online where they are more affordable. However getting the exam here is a good value, convenient and fast. I will probably request a different doctor next time though.

I had no major problems during the exam and only slight changes in my prescription for glasses.I was referred to his staff for picking of a new frame for glasses and the staff was very helpful. The only negative I have to say is that I did have an issue with the frames I chose later and had contacted his office twice and was not satisfied with how I was not called back about the problem. I have never had an issue like I did, where the frames, being frameless in the eye area, made me feel like I was looking cross eyed. I returned twice to have them adjusted and was not satisfied with the out come. I am not sure whether it is just an unusual circumstance and is rare that what occured, happens. I think that even if you haven't use the frames because of an issue and it takes longer than a couple weeks to return with the problem, (we were out of town for a couple weeks) a person should be able to return the frames and chose something that works better.

Dr. Linas is very aware that I am a Type 2 Diabetic and he is very careful that he gives me the extra care that I may need. He has explained that it is crucial that I get my vision checked every year because I may be a little more at risk. He is more concerned about the health of my eyes.
This year there was a small change in my vision so we ordered new lenses for my frames. After receiving the lenses, they didn't seem quite right and I had never had a problem before. My peripheral vision wasn't correct. I returned and new lenses were ordered. They didn't give me any problem about returning them. My old lenses were reinserted in my frames for the few days until the new lenses arrived. The new lenses were perfect and we joked that the other ones must have been made late on a Friday afternoon!

I have been going to him every year for the last five years. He is very thorough and makes sure that my eyes are checked very thoroughly to see if they have been affected. At one time, I needed him on a weekend and he wasn't there. I rate him highly.

He has been my doctor for about two years. He recommended several procedures because of my LASIK surgery at the Virginia Eye Institute. It worked well. He is very caring and very thorough with his work. He's a great doctor all around. I have no complaints about him.
