    They were amazing! Extremely nice, punctual and kept us informed. They have great pricing and you get great value for your money!! They definitely went the extra mile. There was an additional spot in our sheet rock that needed to be patched up but that was our fault and was not included in the original quote we got from the company. They patched it up for us free of charge! Really great, hard-working, honest, professional and caring company! I would recommend them to anyone!

    It was excellent.�� He is dependable, reliable, and inexpensive.�� For pricing, an A only because there is no grade higher than A.�� Somebody else would charge me a call to come out and then a call for the things they did.�� He doesn't do that, really.�� He knows I'll pay him.�� He's the type of person I can leave the key to the thing and then when I come back he'll either call me with the bill and come by and pick up a check, or I'll bring him a check someplace else or whatever.�� I've used him forever. Approximately July 15, 2015, I used him the first time; I had a home inspection done on a house I was selling.�� I paid for it so I would know if there was anything wrong with the house that needed to be fixed, and he came out at a very short notice.�� He came out and did all the work for me and it was fantastic.�� The buyer decided that since I had my homeowner's inspection and a sheet from him with all the stuff done to fix everything, that he didn't need a home inspection himself.�� That's the first time I used him.�� And you can mark everything A.�� His punctuality was unbelievable.�� I mean, he came right out and did this instead of making me wait and wait, holding up the sale or the closing of the house. The charge for that was approximately $365.00.�� There was a long list of repairs from ceiling rot, a tiny hole in the soffit or fascia that had to be sealed up so that squirrels and birds would not get in the roof.�� There were all kinds of things; painting, little touch-up painting, and minor repairs to the drywall; just a long list of stuff in multiple categories of home maintenance and repairs. My first impression of this provider was that he was very willing to help me in a professional yet rapid way.�� In other words, it had to be done and it had to be done quickly.�� He didn't want me to have the closing held up.�� He got in there and he came really early in the morning, I met him at the house, opened the door, and stayed around while he worked.�� He was very fast and I was very appreciative. I've had him do so many things like from the most minute things to something major. Approximately October 20 2016, he did the install of all the new appliances in my house. I re-did the kitchen and he did like the microwave install, which was very complicated, and dishwasher, sink, faucets, the light and the switch for the light where the washer and dryer is in the utility room.�� He just did everything.�� And he installed my vinyl kitchen floor. The charge for this service was approximately $233.00.�� I bought all the stuff and brought it to the house, and he and his assistant did the installs.�� It looked outstanding and everything worked.�� The microwave worked, the dishwasher worked.�� Everything was done as required.�� Grades were A overall and all categories.��Approximately June 2, 2016, he built a gate to block the view of my garbage cans.�� He cordoned off an area and built a lattice work wall and gate for approximately $135.00.�� All A's.�� This was between the fence and the corner of the house.�� He built the frame for it and then he put the lattice work on there.�� He built the frame around it, like a picture frame almost, and then he had to put the latch on the gate. That was to keep up with H.O.A. standards.�� It took him a while.�� He took his time, he did it right, and it looks great.�� I haven't had one single problem with it at all.��

    He arrived promptly for our appointment but felt that he was not the best person for the work I needed. He recommended another person for the job. The work done was wonderful! I appreciated his honesty about the job and I would call him again!

    Communication: Communication during the estimate and construction phases was very good. Matt insured that I knew what was happening and what would happen next. Due to my schedule, there was a several week delay between agreeing to do the work and the actual start date. Good communication was essential during that time. Professionalism: Matt has demonstrated a very high degree of professional behavior. He is polite while being professional. Matt demonstrated that he had a firm grasp of the scope of work to be performed. At the same time, he provided suggestions which enhanced to end result. Pricing: I got three estimates for the renovation work to be performed. Matt���s estimate was the best and I felt most in line with the scope of work. Reliability: Matt was very reliable. He arrived at the work site when he said he would and on several days worked well past 5 PM. Attention to Detail: Matt paid very close attention to detail. Cabinet work was beyond expectations. And the finished wall are beautiful. General: I think Matt went above and beyond with all the work he performed.

    We gave John at SJ and Sons a very huge job and he rised to the occasion. We need to move to a new state and had to sell our home immediately.  We received an initial inspection report and were overwhelmed with the complex list of items needed. There were large jobs like crawl space restoration for moisture and a possible leak and small jobs like gutter drain extensions.  John cam out to our home and not just looked over the property.  He educated us on our house, what he could do, and what we should expect.  He was able to come out 2 weeks later and completed all jobs in 2 days! John is a professional and he is VERY good at what he does.  If we still lived in Virginia, we would contract him for everything because he knows houses and doesn't cut corners.

    Additionally: He will fix things even if it's not originally asked.  He noticed an exterior door lock was not correctly installed and asked us if he could fix it...and he didn't charge. This is the type of attention to detail and care you need from a contractor. Especially when there are those that will overlook things if they are not being paid for them.

    Problems: After the completion of work, there was a constant need for additional paperwork from the seller's lender. We had to keep bothering John for paperwork (and if you work as much as he does, there is not a computer everywhere). He never showed frustration or acted unprofessional (I know I would have f I was in his shoes). He has a great attitude.

    Mr. Hetrick was very responsive and helpful.  The first job done was the removal of the wall paper in a downstairs bathroom.  The painter from his team arrived on time and was very meticulous in removing the paper and patching the walls.  He did a fantastic job of painting the room, and it is truly transformed.  I then contracted to have Mr. Hetrick's team to paint the entrance, stairwell and upstairs hall.  Mr. Hetrick came to the house prior to consult with me and see what I wanted.  It took one full day to complete the job.  The painters arrived promptly. This time there were two crew members.  They were careful to remove fixtures, switch covers and the banister going up the steps so they could paint. They replaced everything and cleaned up prior to leaving.  Mr. Hetrick then came by over the weekend to inspect the work and make sure it was done to my satisfaction.   I couldn't be happier.     The initial meeting was set for 7 August 2015 at 8:30 AM. George arrived promptly on time. He was very professional and  explained  his plan of action.  He contacted me a few days later with his estimates for the two jobs and I felt the estimates were very reasonable so the first job was scheduled for August 14th. George and his team arrived on time and  and proceeded to set about prepping the area, and replaced the damaged material, tape, mud and cleaned the area leaving no dust, and bits of ceiling material from the floor.  George said that he would be back the next morning to finish the job by sanding down the joints. He arrived the next morning at the time specified and finish the sanding, perform clean up and then set up the job for the kitchen ceiling. We scheduled the job for Friday Sept. 11th.  2015  at 9 AM.  As I had come to expect, George and his team arrived at 8:45 AM,  and proceed to prep the damaged ceiling for repair. Both jobs were excellent and very professionally done.  I would use George and his company again due to the professionalism and the work that they provide.

    We have lovingly restored our house.. up to the cracks in the plaster ceiling. We knew that we needed someone else to do that . George and his crew came in and made virtually NO mess. They patched the cracks.. they are not visible at all.   We had a problem with one of the areas re-cracking. George came out and fixed it immediately. We do have a unique situation in that our ceiling has radiant ceiling heat.  So far.. no further cracking. They look so much better. 
    We were most impressed with this company. Mr. Scantling's work ethic is something that you don't see a lot of!

    The contractor was on site for about 7 days. I have always been very hesitant about hiring contractors especially for this large project ( kitchen remodel) as I'm always fearful they will skip steps here and there. As you can see in what I put into the what did the provider do field it was very detailed on what Johns company did for us.


    First off let me say John and his 2 employees were very friendly, kind and professional.



    The first impression my wife and I got after them being here for 2 days was how thorough they were. They spent 2 full days on prepping the entire kitchen ( removing old wall paper, fixing holes, priming, sanding, priming again, sanding again walls and cabinets). Once the painting started they were as thorough in it as they were with the prepping. I have seen allot of painters in my time but the painter John had on is team was one of the best I have ever seen. His attention to detail was evident in his work and you could tell he had pride in his work as he did a phenomenal job in the painting of the kitchen and the cabinets. He used multiple coats ( always 2 or more) on everything that was painted, even the primer was 2 coats on everything.

    We had new cabinet doors made from another company that John deals with and they also turned out great. John and his team painted our old cabinets to match the color of the paint on the new cabinet doors and drawers we had made.

    One of the other major items we had John and his team do was remove our old counter top and put in a new one that we had made. Right from the start of taking the old one off we could tell that more work was needed than first thought as some of the wood had broken and some was rotten. John never complained, never asked for any additional money, he just went about and did an awesome job fixing the wood for us, adding additional edging and fixing things here and there to make it look professional. They really did allot of extra work on that countertop replacement and never once asked for any additional money. That's a great credit upon his company and his professionalism.

    In the end, this was by far the best contractor experience I have ever had, they did a phenomenal job, did allot of extra little things here and there to really show they took pride in what they did. We were extremely please with the outcome of our new kitchen.
