Drain Cleaning reviews in Chester

Way overcharged. Do not disregard the bad reviews. Quality of work was OK, and they were professional, but I couldn't find ANYONE else that charged as much as they charged me for the water heater and installation. It was DOUBLE the other estimates. Do yourself a favor and DO YOUR RESEARCH.

They arrived promptly, were very friendly but at the same time professional. They have always bent over backwards to accommodate us whenever we had a problem. The problem was always fixed in a timely fashion at the costs were very reasonable -- usually below other companies. I would recommend Colonial Plumbing to everyone who need their services. I don't think you will find a better company

Bob Mancino arrived right on time and went to work on the stopped toilet.  After a few minutes he got the clog removed.  He then checked the inside and realized the water level wasn't correct (probably a factor in the clog), fixed that as well as making adjustments to make a smoother flush.  He then checked my other 2 toilets and made the same adjustments on them.
Next he fixed my kitchen faucet and stopped the water leak that occured when the water was turned on.  On to the master bath and changed the "guts" of my faucet that had just recently started to drip.
In just an hour Bob unclogged a toilet, fixed all 3 toilets, and 2 faucets!  He also made recommendations on one of the toilets that will probably need to be replaced in the near future. We will definitely call him for that job.

I was looking for more but they just came and did what they said so I would have to rate them for what they did. They did a great job as far as coming and doing what is on the paper.  It cost nothing more. I wanted more from them but the service they provided was all within their rights, I understood it. It was very helpful telling me that there is more that they can do. They were prompt.

I called them out because i see the seal on the toilet was broken and a back up with the line.  The guy came out and runs the rooter router and I kept telling him I had cats coming under the trailer and i thought the straps were off the line and were bellying.  He said no no, the lines need to be cleaned.  He asked me what I stuffed in the lines, saying there was cotton in the lines.  He left after collecting the money.  Not ten days later i have them back out for the exact same issue.  I told the second guy, the son of Master of sons, and he said the seal has an auto release that allows the water to flood out rather than to come out of the toilet.  That was strange since it's a wax seal.  He ran the line again and told me to get this powder to get the sludge out of lines as he told me too and it still hasn't worked.  Now both bathrooms are breaking the seal.

We called again today to see if they were coming.  They did not show up.  They said they were really busy and said they had no idea when someone was going to come out and help.  We had been calling since the day after Christmas trying to get this schedule.

I was in the hospital with bronchitis over the weekend because of the mold growing from the soaked carpets from all the water that flooded.  If they fixed right the first time, I would not be having this.  When I dial, I get Masters and Sons but when I hit redial, I can get a woman with some completely different company.  It?s not a dedicated phone line.

Colonial Plumbing visited twice, once to install a vent free gas stove and once to rough pipe a gas line to the garage for a natural gas generator.  All work was done in a professional and timely manner.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it was fantastic. The best thing about the deal was what the plumber, Paul, did while he was waiting for the water heater to drain. They had said as part of the Big Deal he would do an overall check of the plumbing while it was draining so he went through the house. He went through the house since I had various things that were not working to my satisfaction. He went to each one of them and either fixed them or showed me how to fix them. He also explained everything and was absolutely wonderful. He came out two or three days after I bought the deal.

Let me be clear up front that I have worked with James River on heating and air before.  Their prices are premium, but I also found their service to be excellent, so I had a very good feeling about the company.  And then I had them come in to give estimates on plumbing.  It was as if I was dealing with a different company.   The estimates provided went beyond premium and into serious price gouging.  They were so high that I had another plumber with excellent ratings from Angies List (including an "A" on price) come in for a second opinion.
When I set the appointment with James River, I told them that I needed caulking around my sink and even made sure they had a caulk gun, as I had had a handy man come out without one, so it still needed to be done.  The person who came told me that they will not do this caulking as they have found it to be hard to do a good job without fully removing the sink.  So I could get caulk put in if I paid $650.00 to remove the sink, clean and seal the edge, and install the sink back.  Not a feasible way to get simple caulking done!  I was amazed by this, and frustrated since they did not tell me this when I made the appointment.
I also had a leak from the faucet in the bathtub.  The woman who came out from James River told me they would have to get under the house to get to things, and the cost to replace the stems, washers and springs would be $200.  If the faucet needed to be replaced, the cost would be $802!  In contrast, the other plumber said he did not need to go under the house, and that the faucet was designed to not need replacement, so that would be unlikely.  He finished the job very quickly (without going under the house).  The total bill from him for caulking and fixing the faucet was a mere $111.25.   Hearing his quotes and getting information from him on what was needed confirmed what I had assumed - I was being price-gouged and given some inaccurate information.  This has left me with a very unpleasant taste in my mouth about James River.  I will not have them back for any plumbing, as I have lost trust in them from this experience.

Response time was excellent and the representative of James River plumbing department explained the situation to me very clearly and in detail. An estimate was written up and the cost was very satisfying to me since my previous estimate would have cost me 70% more. Work was performed on same day and was completed in a timely fashion and within the limits of the estimate.

Our house is 130 years old so it is harder to work on than some. I called Flinn's on a Saturday afternoon and they were on site within an hour. After looking at the problem, trying a few things to fix it, and deciding that a major portion of drain pipe was frozen solid, the problem was not resolved. I still rate the experience very well: they tried, they offered several suggestions to help deal with the mess until it can be resolved, and they offered a few alternatives to fixing it. The after hours service call is currently an additional 125 and I thought the overall charge was very fair. Prompt, helpful, fair. I would hire them again.
