Chimney Repair reviews in Chester

We had a leak into our living room ceiling that started after adding on a porch. After many calls to the roofing company we decided to have the chimney cleaned and inspected. Holy cow! We wasted so much time with the roofers. S&N came, inspected, explained and fixed our problem. With all this rain this year and we have had no more leaks! I highly recommend this company. He is very knowledgeable, fair, easy to work with and friendly. You need something done with your chimney? Quit searching, call S&N.

I did not purchase a deal from Angies List but got the business name from here. The Eurotech guy said the chimney was not usable because there was a crack "he thought" but couldn't find it and there was moss growing in the top (I'm sure that is true and I thought that would be part of the cleaning process since our house is shaded, but I guess not). He said 2 of three fireplaces weren't usable which have never been used by us in the 15 years we have been in the house, the other one has been used maybe 20 times (that is the usable one). He wanted to replace the chimney cap. I'm confused if the chimney isn't usable why I would replace the cap, I would think the old one is fine.. There was a suggestion to only use the chimney for gas logs. I was not present when the inspection was done and only heard about what was said and saw a hand written summary that was nearly unreadable. After talking with numerous people that have had to have an inspection done ( by any inspection company not specifically Eurotech) all have said that chimneys haven't passed and no matter the age of the house and the amount the chimney had been used every one said they had to replace a liner or a cap. One person even had to rebuild the chimney because of a suspected crack. The chimney inspection requirement, prior to selling a house, is new since I last purchased a house. I think it's a good business to be in because the seller is at the mercy of the inspector and from what I am hearing chimneys never pass inspection. I'm in favor of safe practices but I'm not confident that folks aren't being taken advantage of.

We called three companies.  Only C. L. Wright responded.  Mr. Wright arrived on time to look over the proposed work.  From the initial visit, the proposal for the work, beginning the job, up to completion of the work, everything was done in a timely manner.   All workers were pleasant, arrived on time, and cleaned up before they left for the day.  It was a very satisfying business experience and everything was completed when promised.

This recommendation is LATE, but quality of work can really be backed up.  For over a year, all work performed has been subjected to snow, sleet, rain, hail, freezing temperatures, very hot weather, and high winds.  There have been NO ROOF LEAKS, NO  BLOWN OFF SHINGLES, AND NO LEAKING SKY LIGHTS.  The previous sky lights had leaked many times and the roof on the sun room had begun to leak.  Since the work was done, we have experienced dry ceilings and floors.  The gutters are great!  If you want quality work and materials, dealing with professional and pleasant people, call C. L. Wright Roofing, Inc.

As far as I could tell, everything went great.  They were professional, cleaned up after themselves and overall, things went well. Pricing was slightly high, but for the job performed, I was happy.

I never saw him come on the agreed upon day.  He called days later and claimed he had been to my house and had used some kind of camera to see the top of my chimney.  I highly doubt it since my house is on a hill, and if he came in my driveway I would have seen him.  He stated they don't repair chimney caps without scaffolding, so the price was higher for the chimney than the company I used charged for both the cap and the step repair.

I purchased the chimeny sweep deal.  Scheduling was done promptly.  2 guys showed up within the scheduled timeframe.  One seasoned and one apprentice.  Both were very nice and my dogs liked them (a big deal in my book).  The more experinced of the two identified several repairs that needed to be done and thoroughly explained to me the reason/danger of needed repairs.  I decided to have them do the work on the spot (they allow time for this in their schedule) because it is the holiday seaon, I want a fire and really did not want to fool with getting estimates. They took steps to insure my house stayed clean and completed the work on both chimneys in about 1 1/2 hours.  I did look online at average prices for the repiairs and could have probably gotten a better price if I shopped around but there is a price to be paid for time/convenience.
