AResidential Essentials by Gary MillerFrom the very beginning Gary listened closely to what we were looking for in this bathroom re-model. He made excellent suggestions when we were unsure aesthetically where to go as well as what practically works and doesn?t. But he did not impose his ideas on ours. We could tell he thought things out very thoroughly and would not waste time or resources. Gary can make most anything work if the homeowner is willing to pursue it. Our 1911 house indeed needed much work. Our first floor bathroom had to be stripped to the studs, ripping out all wiring and plumbing, ceiling, walls and floor. Even the wiring down to the circuit breakers in the basement. We literally re-started from scratch, creating a new smaller bathroom and a beautiful, very functional hallway closet. What makes the bathroom most dazzling is the hand tile job Gary did, artistically placing each small tile on the walls and in the shower stall. It is unique and truly a work of art. While everything is new and beautiful, it retains an old house charm, even an antique feel to it. My wife choose all the fixtures, tile colors, curtains, and lighting and Gary listened very closely to what she wanted and put it together, again and literally, like artwork. Unlike other contractors we have used for another bathroom job, he did not cut corners or surprise us with "add ons?. He clearly explained everything he thought needed to be done and gave us options and choices. We feel like we not only got top quality craftsmanship in style but the ?bones? of the job, what?s underneath what you see, is very well done, too. Another important factor for us was trust. Gary was very forthcoming and proved himself completely reliable. His helper, Kyle, worked very hard and they got the job done in a most timely manner. I cannot recommend Gary enough. He can do high end, top quality work like for our home, or more affordable work using more affordable materials. He is completely honest and just simply needs to hear from the customer what they want and what they can afford.- Allen K.

AStephens RemodelingI met Lloyd Stephens at one of the home shows in Hampton. I was very impressed with his knowledge and his willingness to work with me on this project. He came through with a very competitive bid for the job. I only wanted him to do the shell of the garage and then I was going to complete the rest of the work myself. He was very willing to accommodate me on this. We went through a series of designs to arrive at that one that I wanted and fit my yard. We had to downsize it from my first plan since it was too large. He provided all of the drawings and information that I needed for our homeowners association. Once this was approved, he was able to start work. We hit one of those rain spells in the summer just as he was starting with the foundation, and it took a bit longer since he had to keep pumping out the water. The construction of the garage went very quickly. We used a truss construction so that there was more room upstairs. This installation was impressive to watch, since he brought in a crane to move them into place. The whole garage was wrapped up and weather tight in time for Hurricane Irene to come through and give it a test. It came through with flying colors. There was very good attention to detail. Lloyd was very strict in making sure that everything met or exceeded code requirements. Walls are straight and plumb; windows and doors are very high quality; there is good workmanship throughout the building. It is sad that it is only a garage ... actually my workshop. Lloyd is a pleasure to work with. He is continually available on his cell phone or e-mail. It was often that we would have conversations at 9 pm at night to work out details. He was on site on a very regular basis; often doing some of the work himself. The crews that work for him were very good. They kept the jobsite neat and cleaned up each day. There was an issue with the concrete driveway pouring. We have the exposed aggregate in our development. Lloyd poured the extension one time, and that night as I am driving home he called me and told me it was not up to his standards and it had to be torn out. I was disappointed about the extra week that this took, but pleased that there never was an argument with him on the quality of the work. The slab was busted out, hauled away, and then completely repoured. It looks great now. I cannot wait for the rest of the work to be competed. Although Lloyd offered and quoted to do all of the work to compete it, I have decided to finish it myself. I just need to put in the electrical, HVAC, insulation and drywall and it will be complete. I was very pleased with the work that Lloyd Stevens Builder did and I would happily recommend him and use him for any future projects that I have.- Donald H.

ARaven Contractors LLCThe job went really well. They had to take measurements on all the windows which is difficult in an old home since there is settling. David was able to manufacture the frames on all the windows, some of which were small and others enormous (like 66" x 108"). The windows are great and, since this is an Angie's List report, at one point David even walked my dog one day during the job (just like the Angie's List TV ad).- Douglas B.

ATalPol LLCEverything went smootly, the result was amazing, neat clean , perfectly done. They carted out all the debris, cleaned up after, even changed the filter in the furnace, because all the dust generated sanding. Also we had an emergency after the job was done: leaking from a second floor bathroom/not related/. We called Mark and came as soon as he could. Find the problem right away and replaced the toilet wax seal properly! The previous guy 10 years ago closed the gap between the seal and floor with grout, that's caused the leak!!!. The best ever experience with renovation, I wish I known him 10 years ago. Unfortunately we are loosing Mark because we are moving to VA, I just hope we will find a treasure just like him. I'm recommending to any friend of mind who is in need of an excellent remodeling guy.- Katalin K.

AHome Solutions IncDeborrah from the office was the most outstanding customer service provider from start to finish. She coordinated most of the work, handled my phone calls, scheduled billing, and in general guided me through the process start to finish. I can't say enough good things about her. My estimate visit was coordinated around my schedule with Mike (only 2 days after I called). He was upfront with costs and estimates were given within 24 hrs via email. The work started on time, although it did last longer than originally anticipated. Deb called me every morning to let me know the plan of the day, who was coming, and would direct any questions to Mike that she could not answer. The guys who came over to do the work were usually the same 3, were very professional, and left my home very clean after each day of work which made living in my home during the project more bearable. Despite lasting longer than I thought it would (by about 1 week), I am very satisfied with the quality of the work and especially the professionalism of their office and staff. APINNACLE CONSTRUCTION INCDave is a master plumber, electrician, and carpenter. He is a perfectionist and extremely creative. You can be assured that he will do a fantastic job whether it's finishing work or rough-in. You get what you pay for so beware of cheap re-modelers. We have paid the price by hiring more then one substandard contractor and paying the price to have the electric, gas, water redone. Dave will do it right the first time.- Jeff W.

FThe estimate was a sham - it took two and a half hours - the expectation was, once you put in all of that time, how would you just walk away from a renovation that was more than double of any other estimate, Then, the car -dealer borrowed sham - call into manager to get a better deal - twice!!! And the price was still way over market. But - if you booked it right then, $10,000 less than next day; $20,000 less than 9 months hence. The contractor would not provide an estimate, until you walked through every decision the bathroom renovation would entail. This was disgusting. I think also a sham for seniors. I would not recommend.

DVery Disappointed the job was supposed to be completed before September. Of course, due to COVID-19 the job was held off which would not have been an issue but I signed the contract at the beginning of June, a project manager was supposed to contact me in 3 to 4 weeks due to work scheduled being backlogged. Well 6 weeks later no one reached out to me I tried to get ahold of the sales rep to no avail I had already submitted a down payment and had not heard from the company at all. I finally was able to reach the office after four different conversations and after another month gone by someone finally scheduled the work to be done. The day came and no one showed up and did not hear from anyone. I called the office again and although promises were made nothing happened. No discount for the inconvenience the work is not great it looks like I could have wrapped my own trim not professional at all. Very disappointed in this company would not recommend this to anyone at all. They do not compensate for lack of communication they left trash in my yard for 2 weeks no contact with me about anything at all. This company works as if it is a teenage shop with no accountability.

AIt was an excellent experience from start to finish! Our water remediation specialist (Water Damage Solutions) recommended Gleaton Construction as their choice for renovating our kitchen. The adjective Steve used when he described Daniel's work was "impeccable". That sounded good to us as homeowners! From the first meeting with Daniel, we could tell Steve had not exaggerated. Daniel listened to what we needed and gave us a clear understanding of how the process would unfold. Every subcontractor he brought had the same pride in their work and the great communication skills we were looking for. A kitchen remodel is very disruptive to a homeowner's life, but we enjoyed a confidence that we had placed our project in capable hands and we were not disappointed. Our custom cabinets, crafted by Chris Ludblom, are the centerpiece of the kitchen. Even though we kept the same layout, the cabinets are so much more space efficient than the factory made ones we had removed. A pantry with 50% wasted space was reconfigured and now I have doubled the use of that area. The quality and attention to detail is far more than we had ever expected. Daniel himself installed our white subway tile backsplash and it is outstanding! Daniel not only provided quality in the work we received, but he was very reasonable in his pricing. Our homeowner's insurance did not cover this work and yet we were aware that the cost, even though it was at our expense, was extremely fair. If you are looking for a company that operates on integrity and great work ethic, look no further.
