  • We were very pleased with the outstanding work of Sean and Talha and the rest of the staff from Boss Design. We hired Sean to redesign the interior of our entire home. He and Talha put together a plan that we absolutely loved. The furniture they suggested looks great and is very functional. Our primary purpose was to increase seating in our home and to spruce up the look. They were able to accomplish this. In fact, we had them order outdoor furniture as well. We have been so pleased. They were wonderful to work with. The customer service was outstanding. They are very creative, but found opportunities to combine many of the things we already owned into the redesign. They asked about our interests and found ways to mesh our passions into their schemes. We would definitely recommend Boss Design for someone looking for interior design of their home.

  • They did a good job and the came here before the rain and the snow. Their expertise shows in the discussions that we had with them and the estimator was able to show me how my roof was originally installed in a way that is less effective that it could have been.

  • From start to finish, we had great personalized attention from Forward, especially from Roei (dispatch manager, pronounced ?Roy?), who informed us our file was on his desk from the week before packing day to well beyond unpacking/dropoff day. He proved this to be the case, by promptly responding to emails and messages late at night or early in the morning. We did a full-pack and long-distance move from Miami Beach to central Virginia, from the 29th floor of a high-rise condo complex to a 3-story house at the bottom of a steep hill on a cul-de-sac. So there were substantial logistical challenges (using a mid-sized truck instead of a standard 18-wheeler in order to better access the loading area of our condo and new home, working within the confines of the building's service elevator restrictions, moving everything down and packing the truck efficiently, a long-distance drive, unpacking while snowing, trekking things up several flights of steep stairs with large armoires and mattresses); the guys managed quite well all things considered. There was only minimal and incidental damage - a few scuffs that were easily fixed with furniture marker, a shelf and chair leg that were broken but repaired to our satisfaction in their warehouse and delivered back to us free of charge within two weeks.
We did experience a few issues stemming from poor packing by one particular individual in Miami that led to disorganization and missing items on the delievery end but the delivery-day manager (Alex) and Roei both offered accommodations that were satisfactory - e.g. offering to come back and install the missing feet from our huge dresser when they were found in a completely unrelated box several days later (Roei stated he would even send someone out to do it weeks later if needed; and go to Home Depot or Lowes to replace any missing hardware).
We were particularly impressed by the professionalism and obvious expertise of Vincent (packing day manager), Alex (delivery/unpacking day manager), and Jennings (driver/packer/unpacker). There were two semi-local guys contracted to help on delivery day who could have done a better job securing screws on end tables and beds but Alex and Jennings were more than willing to spend extra time fixing those mistakes as soon as they were pointed out. On the administration side, Guy came out and spent several hours providing us with a detailed, guaranteed quote and Gina is the point person to get things done when calling in before your move. Both are professional, efficient, and friendly.
Bottom  line: Moving all of one's earthly belongings is always a headache--there will be glitches--but if you are a reasonable individual who understands this then any issues can be easily and quickly addressed with the Forward team. Communication is key. They are probably not the cheapest option (and readily admit to this), but as with many choices in life, you often get what you pay for. There was not a single request/item we asked them to address that was not done immediately with an "absolutely, sir" or "yes, ma'am." Furthermore, the additional follow-up by Roei personally post-move was unusual and a pleasant surprise. He seemed to be genuinely conerned about our repairs and settlement/unpacking process (even the weather). We wholeheartedly recommend their services to anyone undertaking a long-distance, substantial move and would certainly employ them again in the future.

  • The service of this company was extraordinary.  The office volunteered to rearrange appointments so that my washing machine could be repaired before I traveled.  The technicians arrived early, were extremely cordial, and most of all know knew immediately how to diagnose the issue.  What a dream to work with a company like this.

  • Patrick Rannigan is a professional. I had had him do many projects in the past including some difficult ones such as a Sheraton sofa done in leather and an antique chaise lounge and a variety of chairs. I hadn't had anything reupholstered recently. I called to see if he was still doing upholstery as I knew he had moved. He is. My chairs are much loved and much used. He had done the last reupolstery but I had not chosen a fabric to withstand human and canine traffic. This time I chose a sturdier monochrome silk velvet damask. So although one color, the pattern cut into the velvet had to be matched. The chairs have self cording around the top and double cording around the bottom. At first Patrick felt he needed a thinner velvet or the cording would look too bulky. He went ahead with the same fabric and due to a change in a scheduled project the chairs were done in less than 2 weeks. They are perfect. The things I was concerned about, matching of the damask pattern on the back and seat and from one chair to the next were exactly right. Things that I had not thought about like the direction of the nap of the velvet were explained to me and done properly. Patrick has been doing upholstery in Charlottesville for many years including work for Keswick, Monticello, Ash Lawn, etc. and regular homeowners like me who want great work and attention to detail. The great thing is the Patrick is a nice, honest guy. You can read the historic sites he's worked with but his fees are very reasonable and he has no attitude, just pride in a job done right.

  • I cannot say enough good things about Danny's Quality Upholstery. I already had the fabric and I emailed Danny to inquire about his pricing. He emailed back immediately. I had several questions which he answered quickly. i was concerned about spending so much money without physically seeing his work. He sent me some links to photos of his work and suggested I call some of the furniture stores around town and see who they refer me to. I saw the photos and his emails were so thorough that I felt better about trusting him with my furniture. I've seen some bad reupholstering and I couldn't get more fabric. My mom is an interior designer and she commented that his work is superb and the price was well worth it. I am also thrilled with how the couch turned out AND they came and picked it up and dropped it off when it was done. The entire process took about 2-2.5 weeks. I will definitely use him again and have already recommended him to a couple of people at work.

  • Kane Furniture is a first class organization under the skilled leadership of Gordon Latter. We have been customers of Kane for almost 25 years and have made numerous purchases over the years. Kane sells the highest quality furnishings and provides A+ customer service at every level. Everyone from Gordon down to this delivery crew treats you like family. The folks at Kane stand behind every purchase and are quick to address any problem should one arise. The furniture that we have purchased over the years has held up without showing any age.
There are furniture stores all over town that will give you the hard sell and sell you low quality furnishings at a supposed discount price. But with furniture, you ALWAYS get what you pay for. What appears like a bargain is not when you consider longevity.
Gordon has a wonderful sense of style and color and has helped us a number of times with color and fabric choices. He also has an interior designer who is available to help. My understanding is that everyone at Kane is on salary and not commission so you will not get the hard sell at Kane. Rather, you will be helped by sales people who are genuinely interested in helping you make the right choices for your home.

  • The technician was a nice guy. But on both attempted service calls he left grease all over my washing machine and dirty footprints on the floor of my utility room. Ultimately, he could only rig the broken pulley with a new belt, meaning that my machine isn't really repaired.

  • I purchased a 2 year service contract on my Sears appliances and have used this on several occasions. You may have general check-up and maintenance service even if there is no problem, which I also use once a year. I have been most happy with the program and find the technicians to be professional and skilled. You are left with a working appliance and no bill......just one service call would be the same price as the contract.

  • Not only was the work professionally done but the person was a true craftsman who offered expertise and creative solutions.   This was particularly above and beyond from a service point of view as that the seller of my condo was paying for the service, not me (I was not technically the client).  I would definitely used Better Living in the future based on their abilities, expertise, and service, not to mention the high quality of their products.
