  • it was ok.  I got a physicians assistant rather than the Dr because the wait for a Dr appt was months.   She was very friendly and helpful and did diagnosis psoriasis but I didn't feel like she took the review of my many age spots very seriously - it was just cursory review.  I was planning on making an appointment with another Dr based on Angies list.  If it happens to be this group I will wait and get an appointment with the physician this time

  • Dr Liana Abramova saw me and gave me a quick diagnose and solution. She offered me some steroids injections to flat the protuberances. It helped a little bit. She made me know before the injection that it would help but not flatted them up completely. I knew where I went into, and I was ok.

  • The center requires a consultation before services being rendered, which I really appreciated. It cost me an extra $75.00, but they really took the time to examine and discuss what I wanted/needed and what they recommended. Many other places I have visited just want to move you through and aren't really concerned with the patient. During both appointments the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. I will be using the group for all our dermatology needs.

  • Wonderful office staff. I needed a biopsy done, and they were able to
fit me in on Wed Nov 20. Lucrisha Banford is wonderful. Wonderful
bedside manner, spent a lot of time with me, and made sure I understood
everything that was going on. They called in my prescription and it was
ready that day. I am actually looking forward to my next appointment!

  • The office is clean and welcoming. The staff was nice. We waited FOREVER (I think over 45 minutes from appt time) for the doctor who then only had to spend 7 minutes with my daughter. She recommended a face wash and gave prescriptions for cremes for acne and then was out the door. The assistant who provided the prescription scripts also gave us several samples and was very nice. I'm hoping they just had a bad day with the long wait. Everything else was fine. We go back in 2 weeks for a follow-up.

  • When I got to the office, I found it very big and a bit impersonal. The front desk personnel were not unfriendly , however, I didn't feel as though they were overly interested in helping me or making me feel welcome either. I waited for over 20 mins., which felt long. Dr. Abramova was very kind. She assured me that I had done the right thing by coming in and checked out the rest of my body for moles and such as well, reassuring me that all else looked good. She did think that the bump I had could very well be skin cancer, however, she was quite sure that it was benign. Nevertheless she did a biopsy and said that I would have the results in 2-3 weeks. She also went over safety information with me, such as using good sunscreen etc. (and even recommended some good ones), which I thought was good practice.
I was a bit nervous while I waited out the weeks, however, when I still hadn't heard anything after 2 and 1/2 weeks I called the office. I was informed that I needed to call a different number for the pathology results. (Why had I not been told this before?!?). When I called the other number, I was told that if I had had skin cancer that I would have been contacted, so I didn't need to worry. This was NOT a sufficient answer for me, and I was angry that no one had contacted me. I continued to ask for answers and finally found out that I had an infected hair follicle, which and quot;shouldand quot; subside in due time.
While I liked Dr. Abramova, I was not especially impressed with the staff or the office. However, I was furious about the lack of communication ! I have never had skin cancer and hope to keep it that way, however , it is a scary thing to think about and I would think that a dermatology center would want to communicate positive news to their patients !

  • My daughter and I both see Dr. Abramova at Dermatology Associates. She is a very thorough and caring doctor. We have been going to her for several years now.

Last year, she found a skin cancer on my hand - it just looked like any other tiny freckle on my hand to me. It turned out to be squamous cell so I was very glad that she spotted it. They tracked me down at the beach when they got the biopsy results back and had me return to the office after my trip so that she could remove the affected cells. Unfortunately I have had skin cancer before and have an unsightly scar to remind me. That is not the case on my hand though. Dr. Abramova made a tiny incision which healed very nicely - no big ugly scar there. I wish she had treated my other spot. I also get a lot of pre-cancerous spots as a result of too much sun without sunscreen when I was young. Dr. Abramova burns them all off and takes special care with the ones on my face to make sure she keeps the treated area as small as possible.

My teenage daughter sees Dr. Abramova for acne. Dr. Abramova adjusts her treatment regimen based on my daughter's current condition, activities and season. When my daughter is doing sports in school, she has a tendency to break out more frequently so Dr. Abramova uses stronger treatments. In the winter when my daughter's face is already dry, Dr. Abramova uses less harsh topical ointments. So far my daughter has been able to avoid any scaring as a result of her acne. Hopefully that will remain the case until she out grows the issue.

There is only thing that I would change at Dermatology Associates. Their follow up schedule process leaves a bit to be desired. I would much prefer to walk out of there with my next appointment already scheduled. Instead, I have to try to remember when it is that I'm supposed to go back and phone for an appointment.

  • She is super personable and extremely competent; she is very good at what she does. It is hard to get in to see her. She works out of Dermatology of Northern Virginia, and they have two offices. I have no problem with the billing aspect, but the administration aspect can be better. I would continue to use her in the future.

  • It went smoothly--she explained what she was looking for, did a culture. Getting a report of the results was a little less smooth--they had been changing suppliers for their cultures and it got lost in the system. But, that seemed to be a temporary glitch. They referred me to another doctor to have Mohs surgery to remove the basal cell carcinoma. The PA, Ms. Rice, I believe, was very warm and easy to understand.

  • She was treating me for acne and mole removal. She was very thorough and knowledgeable. I had to wait for an appointment for about 4 months. She was a very good doctor and her treatment wasn’t aggressive. I liked her services and will use the same in future.
