Landscaping reviews in Catlett

  • Gordon showed up right away after requested estimate - professional, did exactly as I asked in disposal of the tree removed (dead oak). Guys actually called to do the service a day earlier than scheduled, called me in advance to make sure it was Ok and didn't disrupt my plans or work schedule one bit! Crew was quick, professional and cleaned up thoroughly from the yard around the tree.

  • The removed old broken bricks from the chimney and replaced them with new bricks. Where mortar was missing they added mortar. For the landing at the top of the outdoor basement stairs they quoted us to replace the flagstones, however, when they removed the existing flagstones, they were able to reuse those, saving us money. They relayed the flagstone in mortar in such a way that the water runs away from the foundation and the stairs. When they power washed the entire patio, some of the old mortar came out. They replaced all the mortar even though it was not part of the quote. They did not charge us for the extra mortar used. As they were cutting out the flag stones, some of the dust ended up on the walls of the porch. After the work was done they washed off all the walls, the porch and the furniture on the porch. They did a wonderful job!

  • The 2 of them worked harder and faster than I have ever seen. They accomplished far more than I had hoped - and all done thoroughly. Polite and professional at all times - in person and on the telephone while making arrangements. I will certainly hire them again

  • I bought firewood from Mark Drewry, owner of Grasshopper Tree Service. I was brought much less than paid for and additionally he dumped 4 garden cart loads of dirt and misc. trash. Plus the wood he did bring was the worst quality that I have ever purchased. Do not buy firewood from this person. I called him and asked him to negotiate to make this right. He blew me off and said if I complained that he would publish my name, address, and phone number.

  • They did an outstanding job in intense heat. Very professional, very nice. They worked non-stop (except maybe to get out of the sun, which was intense) and cleaned up the yard afterwards. It looked so big afterwards, like night and day.

  • Chain saw needed repair; gas line hoses had decayed due to Ethanol gas - the bane of all small engineers since the Gov't imposed 10% ethanol on us. The min and max cost estimates were initially given and I determined to repair the device even though it was determined that a new carb was needed too. Honest estimate and accurate completion estimate. Will use them again, I'm sure.

  • This company refused to take the time to do a formal estimate for us.  I
was furious since we were ready to spend up to $50K.  Kathy who came
out to assess the job told us they didn't want to waste their time
providing an estimate since the job was so big unless we knew we were
ready and they would charge us to write up the estimate.  She made it
seem like we would not get a formal "blue print" of the job and cost
until we said yes to Griggs and awarded them the job.
    This was
the series of events...We contacted Grigg's mid-November (as well as 2
other contractors) to provide us with an estimate on hardscape and
landscaping for the front of our home. We had another contract
(foundation company) completing work on our front porch to reinforce
it.  Kathy inquired about the job and we explained to her the nature of
the work and why it was being completed as well as it would not affect
us moving forward with the new hardscape project. We explained to Kathy
SEVERAL times that they were finishing in the next week and Grigg's work
was not contingent upon the completion of the foundation contractor.
    It
took Kathy several weeks to agree to do an estimate (this was now late
December). At this point we were working with 2 other contractors to
provide us with estimates which they did TIMELY and were not charging
us.  Kathy never returned and estimate although we were lead to believe
she was having her guy work on one. She also never returned my phone
calls after the promise of the estimate.
    We ended up spending
$47,000 on our project. I guess this company didn't need the money and
thought we were serious.  Next time I recommend when a potential
customer is asking for an estimate and telling you they are serious and
want to start as soon as possible....you should really listen.
I would not recommend them due to their lack of professionalism.

  • AMAZING Contractor!!!
Andrew to several hours to first understand what we were looking for and our style. He left us with a few books to review and recommended we determine the type of material we prefer. He came back a second time with a very extensive draft of his proposal and samples of pavers for us to choose colors, etc. His drawings and vision were VERY well explained both verbally and on his estimate. There was an earlier reviewer that said Andrew should have provided them with pictures of the plants...i can tell you we have had SEVERAL estimates and other landscapers do work and they don't give you pictures (use the internet).
The job started a few days behind schedule due to weather and we were informed of the delay prior to start. If the weather set them back, Andrew would ASK if it was ok to come on a Saturday.
Demolishing of the existing hardscape, sidewalk and stairs were done within the first week with very little mess.
Andrew and his crew worked for the next couple of weeks building and designing the project. We have a 1980's home and Andrew's vision brought it up to date.
I can't say much about issues...because there is nothing worth mentioning even for such a large project. We had a few minor comments as the project progressed. Andrew was always easy to get a hold of OR was on site himself. He oversees his projects very closely and all of his guys speak english so there are no communication issues. We did not like the rail Andrew used upon installation. When we contacted him about the rail, he quickly came out and gave us several options to choose from. The minor items we pointed out (such as plant placement or paint drops on the porch) were corrected and easy to work through with Andrew. He wants to make things right and perfect. I have never had a contractor who is so particular about their job site and work as well as pleasing the customer.
We can't say enough about Andrew and his crew. I would definitely hire them again!!!

  • I have used Dreamscapes on numerous occasions. They come in get the job done, and do great work. Their prices are very competitive not to mention they are local for me. I would highly recommend them if you are looking to get professional, quality work at a reasonable price!
