  • [Note: Angie's List displays reviews as a single paragraph. The same review on Yelp may be easier to read.] Have been taking my 17-year old cat, Babe, to Burke Veterinary Clinic since November 2017. Babe was adopted by my parents in 2006. My 97-year old mother could no longer care for him so Babe moved to Springfield with me from Maryland. Babe has been seen by both Dr. Alt and Dr. Monahan, both excellent Vets. The entire staff is always very helpful and courteous. It is easy to get an appointment within a reasonable time and once there wait times are not long. I called once with what I thought to be an emergency at 4:30pm on a Friday and was told to come right in. When Babe was scheduled for surgery with an Ophthalmologist he needed an antibiotic injection. Burke fit us in so the med would have time to take effect a few days before the surgery. Dr. Monahan even called a few days after his surgery to see how he was doing. Babe has been taking meds for a liver condition since about 2013 and needed to delay his rabies and distemper injections. Dr. Monahan emailed waivers to a groomer. As Babe is also an indoor cat and 17 years old Dr. Monahan said the vaccines are not as important as they would be for an outdoor cat. Dr. Monahan also prescribed a pain medication for Babe on our first visit for his arthritis and was very understanding and patient with me as I called with concerns over his initial reaction to the med. Both Dr. Alt and Dr. Monahan have been very supportive in trying his medications in different forms. After a few years of chewables for 2 liver meds and some months of a chewable pain med, Babe started to refuse them. We switched to liquid meds which he readily accepted in certain foods for some months, then started refusing any foods with liquid meds. Trying to get 3 liquid meds into his mouth with syringes would be too much for both Babe and me. I am giving him the pain med once or twice a day by mouth, which can be a real struggle at times. We have now switched to ear gel for the 2 liver meds which requires his ears be cleaned regularly, some of which I can do at home. A real plus for us is Burke Vet Clinic is only a 5-minute drive from my house, a 12-minute walk if necessary, so Babe does not need to spend a lot of time in the car getting there. Once in with the Vet we are usually out within 1/2 hour or so but never feel rushed, it's just all the time needed for that visit. I highly recommend both Dr. Alt and Dr. Monahan at Burke Vet Clinic.

  • Full recovery. Great work. Price is a fixed fee with no negotiations. Included new X-rays of knee although local vet who diagnosed problem provide their X-ray. Included a physical therapy session that I didn't need. Already experienced with PT procedures.

  • My dog loves her regular walkers. The owner and staff work with me as my schedule changes regularly. They have been quick to respond and flexible with last minute changes. They offer the best price I've found locally for this type of service.

  • Been using this company since 2010 and were satisfied until today. Our regular walker is on vacation and they asked if we wanted a sub for today. In writing, I said "no" because I felt the dogs would not react well to a stranger. Well, Becky's sent someone to our house anyway, the dogs reacted poorly and she was bitten. Our dog has now been reported to animal contort and is in quarantine. If you want your pets cared for according to your instructions, then pick another company. They may be the biggest in the area, but that doesn't mean they provide quality service.

  • I called my vet to get recommendations and was given Au Purr Cat Care as one of the options. I called on a Saturday and left a message describing what I needed and within a half day, Sondi returned my call. She asked me a few general questions and then described her philosophy on cat care. She made me feel comfortable that in hiring her company to care for my cat that he would be in good hands. Within a couple of hours of our phone call she emailed me all the forms I would need to fill out and worked to schedule a cat care professional to arrange with me a time to meet. Within 24 hours of my returning the forms, Carol contacted me about meeting so she could get to know my cat while I was there and learn where everything is in my house. Carol was very friendly, arrived on time for our appointment, and immediately made my cat feel comfortable. My cat really took to her and I had no doubt that he'd be well cared for while I was away. They worked with me to accommodate my schedule needs for when I wanted them to come to take care of my cat. I received updates each visit as well. Everything went smoothly while I was away and I felt that had there been an emergency it would have been handled very well. I would definitely hire Au Purr and, specifically, ask for Carol again. Thanks for taking such great care of my cat :)

  • Their prices are competitive. They did a great job. We have use them for years for grooming, boarding, and even doggy day camp. If you want they will put a human in a pool and give your dog a workout of sprinting. They are very clean. You can do a tour of the facility. It does not smell. They know our dogs. They have great hours. They are very professional.

  • For both of them it was closer to $300 because they go outside. They had to test them for parasite. They had to give them all their shots. Some they only get every 3 years and the ones they get every year. Well this was the year they got all the shots. She was not happy until dinner time. They are very responsive to requests. The girl cat is worst than the boy cat. They boy cat gets as close as he can to me and buries his head. The girl cat she does that but she just starts trembling. I think they are competitive. We went to another vet with our previous cat, but my husband would not go back to that vet because this was his favorite cat in his whole life, and he thought he should have done more to save him. We buy fat cat food for them. If they have it in stock they set it aside for me and if they don't they have it for me the next day. They take me in just in time for the appointment. I want to say that we have probably  never sat there more than 5 minutes waiting for the vet. We have to sit a little longer to do the paperwork after but that is to be expected. We take them in carriers.

  • Gerson came out twice. He was exceptionally professional and knowledgeable about dogs. He was also kind and compassionate towards my dog. He has a wonderful, calm energy. He was very responsive and gave detailed notes and recommendations after each session.

  • That ran us about us about $1,900. They’re not cheap. It’s what you get. They’re very professional. You feel comfortable, the dog is going to be well when you get back. You don’t have to worry about it.

  • It’s a Dachshund. They interacted well with my pet. Got me in on time and out. Have been going to them for some time. I like that they are very close. We’ve been taking the dog there since we got him 6 years ago.
