    After seeing what a terrific job SGS Builders, Inc did to a similar model house in our development, my wife and I called the owner of SGS Builders, Mr. Steve Sanders, to meet and discuss our project. We provided him with a conceptual design for the addition we wanted, and Steve Sanders quickly provided us a detailed proposal and cost estimate that was very reasonable in our opinion. Knowing how well he and his team had performed on our neighbor���s home, we hired him to build our addition. One of the things that impressed us was the fact that SGS Builders is committed to working on and completing your job prior to taking on other work. He uses an experienced team of skilled subcontractors who he has worked with for decades. He worked with us on every aspect of the design, provided a detailed plan/drawings for the addition and kept us up to date on scheduling and execution of every phase of construction. Vice extending our existing HVAC to the new addition, which would have been a costly and difficult task, Steve suggested using a separate Daikin multi-zone mini-split heating and air conditioning system for the new addition. He is very hands on and very easy to work with and was very accommodating to our needs and several changes during the construction of the addition. Steve showed up on-site almost every day and directed his subcontractors in each aspect of the job. Steve worked with the County for all permits and inspections. Space was limited on our side lot, and Steve was very focused on ensuring the design and actual construction stayed within the allowed setbacks. Multiple surveys were taken and Steve worked with his subcontractors to ensure the footings, foundation and framing stayed within plan dimensions. Steve Saunders and his team of subcontractors did a terrific job on our addition. My wife and I could not be happier with the results. Money well spent. SGS Builders totally transformed our house. We highly recommend SGS Builders, Inc. Steve Saunders and his team provides a great design and build option for any home addition and remodel needs.

    SGS Builders Inc.

    SGS Builders Inc., headed by Mr. Steve Sanders, is an absolutely amazing team of skilled and friendly craftsmen who truly care about their work and pleasing their client with a first class product.  They epitomize true professionalism in this contractor-rich area.

    We recently hired SGS Builders Inc. to take on a major project we had been putting off for several years.  Steve Sanders and his confederation of construction contractors made this project (we had been dreading) look almost easy.  The project was a combination of construction (turn a dilapidated carport into a first-rate garage w/new concrete flooring, finished interior, door opener, and driveway, add a three foot extension onto our existing front porch with ceiling fans and recessed lighting and slate floor, add a new slate sidewalk, and a transit window at the top of our second story staircase) and upgrades (replace architectural roofing, replace gutters, install Simonton windows, doors, Cedarboard siding, and finish with all painting and electrical work).  The cost of the entire project was well over $100k.  The project was completed in two months with no re-dos.

    We received other bids, and while SGS was not the cheapest, we felt that Steve Sanders had the seasoned maturity and integrity to get it all done in minimum time and with real quality construction.  Even before we inked a contract, Steve spent his own time investigating and surveying the project to be sure he limited any surprises and his/our exposure to risk.  Steve was either on-site or readily available every single day of the contract.  He addressed each and every detail of the project and questions/concerns we had immediately and always accommodated our intentions. He ensured that there were NO dead time days except for one period of heavy rain during the concrete phase of the project.  There were contract teams on site every day.  Needless to say, we made a great choice in contracting with SGS Builders Inc. for this project.  Steve brought a crew of ?known? craftsmen who he had worked with on his many projects from 15+ years.  They were all steeped with the ?SGS Builders Way? of doing business---arrive on time, work with great skill, keep the client informed, produce a quality product and clean up each day.  Of note were his carpenters and electricians (new garage and porch construction), masons (garage floor, slate porch and sidewalk, and driveway).  Also his teams that completed the roofing, siding, windows, gutters, and painting phases were exceptional.

    All-in-all, this contractor and his team exceeded our most hopeful expectations for a beautiful and functional finished product.  I do not think anyone in this area could have matched the care and concern that SGS Builders exhibited in completing our plan and reacting immediately to design changes.  We couldn?t be happier for a job well done; our money was well spent.

    JW Home Improvement
    I've had good experiences with JW Home Improvement in the past (and written 2 "A" reviews for other interactions with the company), but I was not happy with their Big Deal of $149 for a garage door tune-up and keyless entry system installation.  The keypad installation was fine, but the "tune-up" and recommendations turned out to be just an attempt to sell more services.
    My garage door had been acting up, sometimes refusing to close, sometimes refusing to open, which was why I bought the Big Deal. I was hoping for an accurate diagnosis of the problem. The technician who arrived was nice and seemed to know about garage doors; he told me that the door had been installed incorrectly and gave me a quote on what it would cost to fix it. I don't remember how much the quote was, but it was large enough that I didn't go ahead with it right away. The garage door was opening and closing correctly at the moment so the repair did not seem critical. But not long after, the door stopped working again. This time, I had my dad come look at it. Dad is not a handyman or anything like that, but he quickly figured out that the sensors at the bottom of the garage door had become misaligned, and that's why the door was having trouble opening and closing. He moved one of the sensors a tiny bit and voila, the door worked! It has worked fine since he made that minor tweak, about 6 months ago.
    The tech from JW Home Improvement should have figured out this straightforward problem in the course of his tune-up. I believe him that the door was probably installed incorrectly, but that was not the source of my problem; he wanted me to pay to fix something that didn't need fixing. I'm not sure if I would use JW Home Improvement again. I probably would for other services, but not for anything related to garage doors.

Omar is an excellent communicator who promptly responded to any questions I had. Rocky and Nate did excellent work, adjusted to any minor requests we had and were polite and friendly.     Michael Nash Design Build & Homes
    We decided to build a ?Family Room over the Garage? addition on our house in early 2013. We found Michael Nash as a member of Angie?s List. The company scored very highly, and the associated comments gave us the comfort that we felt we needed to explore the opportunity of working with this contractor. 
    Upon getting bids, we were immediately attracted to two things. First, Michael Nash was significantly less (roughly 30 percent) than the other contractors from which we received quotes. Second, Michael Nash?s model for its work is to develop projects under a fixed price such that when they were completed, the end cost was the same as the quoted cost, and the projects were ?turn-key.? A designer we had used in the past indicated when undertaking such a project, we should expect the quoted cost plus 20 percent to account for things ranging from fixtures to needing to put in an extra beam to meet county approval or move a pipe to address a plumbing challenge. Taken together, picking Michael Nash, from a cost perspective was an easy decision to
    make. Not only were they significantly cheaper than the other proposals, but we didn?t have to worry about the additional 20 percent due to their fixed price.  
    The fact that they had won so many awards was also reassuring.  All of the pictures that we saw and things that we read gave us the impression that the quality of their work was great. Clearly, they had a lot of experience doing all different types of work, kitchens, bedrooms, offices, dens, bathrooms, and even whole houses. We wanted to create a game/family room that also had a bathroom and kitchenette/bar area, so finding a contractor that could do more than just one type of room was a must. Many contractors we found specialized in one type of room or in whole house builds. It was great that Michael Nash was flexible enough to fit our needs. 
    After deciding to go with Michael Nash, the first step was to sit down and work out the plans for the addition. Having their own architect on hand made both the design and any subsequent changes very easy. We had never done anything like this before, so naturally, we had a lot of questions. After a few back and forths, we got the plans where we wanted them, and the project
    began.
    With regard to the fixed price model, customers can choose among three levels (basic, mid, luxury), and then choose fixtures and finishes based on those levels. We went with the mid-level; we did our ?shopping? at the showroom and could pick from their selection of granite, top faucet brands, etc. While not massive, they had a significantly wide variety from which to
    choose. We appreciated being able to pick tile, fixtures, etc. without needing to debate spending an extra hundred here or trying to save money on something else, or having to go to multiple stores to get this done. The ?one stop shop? approach made this all very easy. In addition, we found that not having seemingly limitless options for supplies like tile and granite at our fingertips was a plus. Having redone our kitchen a few years back, the back and forth over, for instance, tile types (by going to three different tile specialty stores with hundreds upon hundreds of tiles) was complete overkill and extremely stressful. Michael Nash had plenty of styles and colors to choose from for our taste.
    Let me say that above all else, we are extremely pleased with the work. In addition, any time we needed to have something else done or something wasn?t right or we needed something adjusted, fixed or addressed, the Michael Nash folks never questioned or were argumentative. As we got into the build and saw how the space was taking shape, we thought of some other space needs that we hadn?t accounted for in our initial design. They worked with us to come up with solutions; if they were ever frustrated by our many questions, they never let on. ?The customer is always right? is certainly a principal that Michael Nash lives by and made our experience a positive one.
      
    A few weeks into the project, we were contacted by a customer advocate who wanted to make sure we were having a good experience. He called regularly and stayed with us throughout the project.  While we had good communication with our
    project manager, this extra layer of contact was greatly appreciated. 
    We?ve heard some horror stories about disrespectful workers on some of our friends? renovation projects. The people who worked on our space were always very respectful, took pride in their work, and took care to make sure they cleaned up each day.
    The key criticism that we have is that the addition took more than twice as long as was proposed to complete the project.  We were originally told that this was an easy project so we should expect a three month start to finish. The project took seven months. If one portion of the project ended, it sometimes took multiple days to get the crew in to begin the next phase. Consequently, there were many weeks where workers worked at our house two or three days a week. This got extremely frustrating at times, but this is really the only issue that we had with the build. That said, having never done a project of this size before, I don?t know how common the delays are in general. 
    Given the delay, several friends have asked me if I?d use Michael Nash again.  Absolutely. I may be prepared for a longer than anticipated build time the next time around, but I?d be assured to get a great product in the end. Their fixed price model meant
    that we were not stressed about unexpected financial issues (like costs to move pipes) and didn?t need to spend more time driving from place to place to get the fixtures and finishes to complete the project. They were easy to work with overall, and their focus on quality delivered a great space that we know we?ll enjoy for years to come.

    Affordable Sheds Inc
    The entire process was fantastic from beginning to end.  Doug came out and did a survey of our property and helped to recommend a shed that would fit our yard and had plenty of pictures of past sheds he's built to pick from.  He even agreed to use (and credit us) for some leftover bundles of shingles from when our roof was put on a few years back.  Once we had decided on a shed, Doug was extremely fast to respond to any updated quotes (based on options we had selected), questions and very accommodating with our shingle request.  On installation day, his two-man team arrived on time with a truckload of 2x4s and just went to work -- building the shed from scratch in half a day!  We were very impressed and very happy with the quality and how it turned out.  So much better than some of the inferior quality sheds from Lowes and Home Depot, and the price was very reasonable.  Highly recommend Affordable Sheds!

    The customer service provided by Outdoor Home Center was exceptional. Colin came to our home to provide the estimate.  He arrived on time, offered suggestions and provided an estimate for the construction of the shed.  Even though the estimate was higher than I hoped for, when I considered that the estimate included a high quality wooden shed built to our specifications, delivery, and installation, we decided the go with Outdoor Home Center.  Colin kept in touch to let us knowoff the progress as the shed was being built.  When rain interfered with the installation of the shed, Colin let us know before the scheduled day that we would have to reschedule for the next week.  On the day of installation the team arrived on time and Colin supervised as the team assembled the shed in about 1 hour.  They were very professional and removed all of the construction debris.  They were careful not to damage our plants and worked as a team to make sure that all of the work was completed without sacrificing quality.   I am very pleased with the service provided and the quality of the shed.  I would highly recommend them for quality made shed which are made to order.

    Simply - - the best! I interviewed over 10 architects, as well as design and build firms, over a 12 month period, before I found the Kilic husband and wife team. Several of the architects interviewed did not want to take on our major home renovation because of surprises often associated with remodeling a 1970's structure. Others did not seem comfortable working with me, a woman lead on the project. Others simply could not grasp my vision. Mr. Ahmet Kilic, however, was able to accomplish what many had failed to do -- clearly communicate his understanding of my design intent. Each design phase came back right on target. Ahmet answered all my questions and design changes were minimal in both scope and frequency. Equally important, is that the construction documents received both Fairfax County and our Home Owner's Association's approval after their first review. During construction, Ahmet was always available to answer questions and invaluable in resolving design issues that came up with contractors. As the project neared completion, Mrs. Ece Kilic, architect and interior designer, provided an excellent color consultation. The end result far exceeded my expectations. I experienced the "Wow" factor the minute I walked in the door of the finished project. Professional, innovative, smart and skilled only partly describe this great husband and wife team. I highly recommend them for anyone who wants a thoughtful and personal execution of their design dream.

    Brent and Stephanie Thomas (BCR) were excellent in organizing and thinking through problems that might arise with the installation of each phase of this job. They were willing to work with our Home Depot contractors, even when the job was held up for several weeks because of delivery problems with this contract. BCR was able to supply excellent workmen for each job and had an extremely high standard of cleanliness at every step. They were flexible as well as competent.

    It was a project many builders shied away from during our research for a company that would take on the work. Right from the beginning, Mert Oktem, President, Green Choice Builders, clearly understood our vision. Equally important, he understood our concern to work within our budget, to keep costs down, and to stay on time. His architect executed impeccable design and construction documents which received immediate Fairfax County and Home Owners Association approvals. During the concept and design phase Mert allowed time for our review of the drawings, answered all our concerns, and amended designs as necessary. Throughout the renovation, every project assigned was completed professionally and on-time. Mert was always available either on the phone or on-site to answer questions, always resolved issues immediately. Throughout the renovation he was a master of project time lines. He was meticulous in his attention to detail and we always appreciated his responsiveness to our questions, his sensitivity to keeping our costs down, and his commitment to finishing on time. Equally important was his enthusiasm and positive energy on the job site. Asking Green Choice Builders to complete our project was the best decision we made. Mert Oktem, President, Green Choice Builders, understood our vision and thanks to him, our vision is now a reality!
