    Sixpenny Chimney Sweeps
Despite their company name, Sixpenny Chimney Sweeps does clean gutters. Right now many gutter cleaning companies are booked through May and some into mid-June. My gutters overflowed in the last storm, rain is predicted for tomorrow, and I couldnt get my regular gutter guys. So, I was very pleased that the woman, Catherine, who answered the phone really cared about my situation. She reached out to the technicians and fit my house into their schedule today. I usually pay $100-120 for one gutter cleaning. For same-day service I didnt mind paying a bit more, $135. Catherine called me when I was the next house to be serviced. The technician, Denny, arrived promptly, was polite and efficient. My gutters are ready for the next storm. Yay!

Very smooth process from scheduling to work being performed. It was our first time getting the chimney cleaned in out new house and they spent some time going over the system we have and how it works. I would definitely hire again next year

    Chimney Inspectors, LLC
I have a 40 year old fireplace and chimney in need of repair to be safely used. They did a thorough inspection of the inside and outside, showed me the pictures and where repairs were required. Their knowledge was excellent! Chimney Inspectors were extremely professional, competent and clean. The price was fair for this work and the need to get it done by competent professionals that back up their work. This work requires the right weather which caused some delays on some of the outside finish work - which was smart. If they had done the work in cold weather, it is likely to have failed. They came through and finished the job when the weather was appropriate. They always responded to my calls and always addressed and resolved my concerns. Removing the old liner is dirty work and they did it without leaving a trace of ash/dirt in the house. The new chimney flue, cap work great. The job was clean and well done. I had complete confidence in the owner and his team during the job. Chimney inspectors will be my go-to chimney company from now on.

First time ever having my chimney cleaned. Been in house for 7 years and from the South where chimneys are not used if you even have one. Mike and Eli were awesome and very nice and professional! Basically gave me a class on what to do and how to maintain my chimney. Going to definitely recommend them to all my friends, especially Veterans! Was really nice and appreciative of my service in the military as a retired Veteran! Cost was very reasonable too.

    Bethesda Chimney
I originally scheduled the service for October 25th. That morning I received a call saying the tech had called in sick and they needed to reschedule. I rescheduled for today (10/31) and was told they would be here between 12 and 2. I didn't get a confirmation about today's appointment so I called to confirm at 11:15. Left a voice mail and didn't hear back so called again at 12:40 and still no answer. I finally received a call at 1:54 letting me know that the tech is stuck doing a big job and will not be able to come, again. I understand things happen, but twice is enough and not contacting me sooner is not acceptable. I requested a refund because I no longer wish to deal with this company.

They cleaned the chimney and we used the coupon successfully. Afterwards, I shined a flashlight up the chimney and could see and physically pull additional ash from the sides with a cloth in my hand. It was mostly clean, but a little attention to detail could have cleaned the lower end better. Also, they told us we have a safety issue with a crack in the floor. They took the fireplace apart on the spot, but didn't have the parts to fix it. The chimney sat unused for 3-4 weeks in winter as we waited for them to get the part. After that time and repeated calls with no scheduled install date in sight, we cancelled the repair and had them come back and put the fireplace back together.

    American Professional Chimney & Masonry
This company cleaned the flue system and smoke chamber and removed the damper. They parged the fireplace smoke chamber and smoothed with insulated cement. They installed a new flexible cement crown, ground out and tuckpointed weak mortar joints then applied a heavy dose of V.O.C. grade water repellent to the entire exterior of the chimney. They installed a new lock top damper combo in the chimney. They were prompt and did a thorough job of inspection. They gave me choices and recommendations on what needed to be done and what could be delayed. They did the above listed work in Oct 2017. So far everything appears to be working as advertised. In addition, with the new lock top damper and smoothing in the smoke chamber I have had no more down draft from the chimney and therefore no smokey fire starts or smoke smells in the house since the work was done. That alone has been worth the price. Previously I had to warm the chimney up by burning newspaper in the fireplace to warm up the air in the chimney for a good draw.

Worrell did an awesome job repairing the chimney. He used sheets to keep my carpets clean and and was very neat and cleaned up nicely. He is a very polite young man and I would definitely use Sixpenney Chimney Sweeps again and I would request Worrell.

    Complete Chimney & Fireplace Inc
Dan and Eric did an excellent job cleaning the chimney and gas logs. They explained the pilot light system to me, and I now have a beautiful, functioning fireplace whenever I want. They left the area nice and clean too. See photo. As I expected, the chimney cap needs replacing due to water and rust issues. Dan showed me a picture of my current chimney cap, plus where the water is creating a problem. He immediately sent me a receipt for today's work and a separate estimate for repairs. Dan noted that my gutters were very clean with one exception, which he cleaned at no additional cost! Since my oak tree still has lots of leaves on it, I was able to postpone my regular gutter guys a few weeks so that they can do their work when I really need it. Dan also noted that the roof to my addition was very well done. He stated that the rest of the roof does need replacing one day, but it is not urgent. This information was a nice confirmation of what the general contractor for the home addition told me. I was impressed by Dan's initiative in providing me with useful information. He's clearly a small business owner that really believes in providing top-notch customer service above and beyond expectations.

    American Professional Chimney & Masonry
The company was very professional. The employees showed up on time, and they called ahead of time to give their ETA. One of them went on the roof to check the chimney cap and exterior. The other one started sweeping the chimney right away. They pointed out things to watch (some rusting on the cap, a crack in the cement base of the fireplace), but they were very honest and didn't use scare tactics to try to pressure us into fixing these things immediately. We had a different company come to our house 3 years ago to do an inspection and sweep, and they deemed our chimney "clean", they didn't go on the roof and inspect the exterior, and they didn't even clean up the few ashes we had in the fireplace from a recent fire! But we had to pay them $89. On the other hand, our experience with American Professional Chimney & Masonry was the opposite. They inspected everything, they cleaned everything, and they were extremely professional and efficient. We will definitely use them again!
