    Bull Run Kitchen & Bath
Hakan designed the kitchen and bathrooms for my new house. He did a great job and helped me avoid a few mistakes! The results are beautiful. His workmen were punctual, professional and hardworking. They even returned once to adjust a drawer which needed a tweak. I would highly recommend Bull Run Kitchen and Bath.

    Bryan Construction Group inc
Absolutely frustrating to work with and administratively inept. Were 5 months late (with some items unfinished) from promised completion date on an estimated 5 month home addition and renovation project, despite there being a delay penalty in the contract. Problems started with Steve (co-owner) having great difficulty figuring out the county permit process, as he contends. The county indicates he was slow with the forms and filing. Workers didnt show as promised on many days, going instead to work on their other projects. We got the truck broke down excuse often. Despite constant prompting and Steves eager promises, they were neglectful in coordinating with vendors in selecting materials and design components, forcing me to do the vast majority of legwork to keep the project moving. I was mistaken in thinking we were paying them to do this. Luckily, I was able to monitor the work frequently and have experience in construction. I pointed out errors regularly. Steve couldnt provide a final financial accounting as the project neared completion, adjusting for allowances I paid for directly and contractual penalties. We have asked for this repeatedly and are still waiting. Eight months after Bryan Construction abandoned the project, a group of four employees/sub-contractors came to the home asking me to pay them directly, claiming Bryan Construction had stiffed them. It appeared to be an act of intimidation. A police report was filed.

    Copper Fox Plumbing
Both experiences were great.  This is a small company.  The owners and their staff are pleasant, professional, and quick to respond. They're also happy to explain the process as they do their work.
My first call to them was over a year ago, on a holiday weekend (of course!) when my septic line had a blockage and my toilet had backed up.  This also happened to be in mid-winter during below-zero temperatures.  The owner, John, called me back enroute to wherever he was going, to discuss the problem and estimated how early he could fit me in to his schedule.
John arrived at what should have been the end of his day, and worked  4 or 5 hours to resolve the problem.  Due to assorted issues with my old house (1790s) and very old septic tank, he snaked from the septic tank toward the house first, then had to remove the toilet and use a larger snake from the house toward the septic tank.  Once the line was cleared he reinstalled the toilet. He discussed what may have caused the issue and ways to avoid it if the below-freezing temps we'd been having was part of the problem. He also did a great job cleaning everything up before he left.
The second visit was earlier this year to fix my leaky kitchen faucet.  John came out again to fix it.  The leak was caused by worn out hot and cold water cartridges.  I had to call the company out west that I bought the faucet from to get the part numbers so John could order them for me, because they weren't standard.  It turns out the faucet is no longer made, but the company was able to send me  cartridges for a similar model so John didn't have to order them.  Once the cartridges arrived, John's partner Jim came out to do the install and took care of it very quickly.  The price I paid for the cartridges directly from the company was significantly less than Jim expected, so he recommended trying to get another pair from them if needed a few years from now.  Just in case that isn't possible, he left one of the old ones with me and told me the name of a local plumbing store that should be able to replace them for me, and even the alternate brands to try if an exact match could not be found through them.
This is a great company, and I will definitely be calling them again for several other plumbing needs on my To Do list!  I found them on Angie's List and selected them because fo their rating , large number of reviews,.  Their location in proximity to mine is  a bonus.

    JMW Construction LLC
This review is long over due. The whole experience with JMW was great from the start. When I called to get a quick estimate from Jim he rushed to our home which was over an hour away from where he lives. He gave us a quote and won our confidence in him and his crew. His crew arrived every day on-time and always checked with us to make sure we were pleased with the work they were doing. His crew met with our fish company in order to make sure that they built us a proper tank stand. We had a roughed in bathroom that they finished for us with a rain head shower, marble and mosaic tile throughout. Jim has great contacts in the area and everyone that worked on the project knew what they were doing and were an extension of Jim's work ethic. Jim's company finished the basement which has hardwood floor, chair railing, recessed lighting all over the basement, a new staircase, built in entertainment components and new storm doors to the outside. As one can see they can do it all. They did a great job and I would hire them again if needed. I was pleased with everything they did and would recommend to all I know.

    Custom Design Tile
It went superbly.  I called Brian after another contractor had left me waiting and waiting for a commitment date to do work.  When he finally cancelled me, I looked here on Angies List and called Brian.  He came out immediately, surveyed what needed to be done (we had already done all the demo work except removing the fiberglass tub and enclosure).  We provided him the tile info from TAC Tile based on our choices.  He promptly gave us an estimate and was able to get his team out much faster than we would have thought.  Modesto and Selmo did a grand job; they are expert craftsmen at all facets of the job, and very hard-working.  The results are beautiful and we are super-pleased.  Brian came out almost dailiy to check progress and to answer any questions or concerns (we had zero).  This was a most excellent experience, and we highly recommend this company.  All of our bathrooms have now been redone, but we would gladly use them again if we had a need.

The Grout Medic - Northern VA
They were prompt, polite and provided the information immediately.  They have followed up several times to see if we want to schedule the work.  Due to the extent of the project and the fact that we have only one full bathroom, we have postponed the work.  Since it is likely to be a complicated project (possibly including pluming and electric-work), and our bathroom will be unusable for numerous days, we are waiting until we figure out how to accommodate the details.

    Blackwood Construction Group, Inc.
We've used their services several times now and our experience with them has always been extremely good. They remodeled our kitchen before we moved out here and it was a long time before. They've been very good at following up with problems. Woody is very good at problem solving and he comes up with ideas during the process.

Water lines broken, lights installed in wrong location, didn't order enough tile & mismatched reorder.  Toilet leaked/flange broken during installation.  Outlets mislocated. Didn't cover shoes or protect carpet, sink not centered in counter top....... The list goes on and on.

Everything turned out beautifully. The cabinets are very well made and were expertly installed. The job was done on time and on budget. The pricing was very competitive. I felt comfortable working with Brian because he is a small business owner who makes it obvious that client satisfaction is his primary objective. Brian's office staff was also very helpful every time I called. I highly recommend The Kitchen Connection for any job that requires cabinetry. Kitchens, bathrooms, offices, bars, etc. He is not a high-pressure sales person, and came across as honest and interested.
